Re: Mike Z, Alex Ahad and Peter Bartholow (Lab Zero)

The prophecy.

To be perfectly honest, I was planning on buying Skullgirls because I feel strongly about supporting independent developers, even though I had no idea whether I’d like the gameplay or not. I thought it looked extremely intriguing and exciting, but you can never tell about a game until it’s in your hands, so I reserved some skepticism.

That said, I am absolutely floored by how beautiful, engaging, and fun this game is. It’s an inspiration to see and play. Everything from the brilliant tutorial mode (did the game really just show me and require me to participate in relearning nearly all fundamentals of fighting games AS A GENRE in less than an hour? Amazing!), the gorgeous animation and art, the enormously enjoyable single-player story modes, and above all, the freedom to be creative and experimental in your gameplay (as opposed to being restricted to certain archetypes) is just so damned cool.

I love nearly all fighters, but this one is truly something special. Thank you so much!

The whole high low mixup tutorial with grabs grinded my gears but I later put in SF4, used those tactics and got a guy who usually just demolishes me with his stupid akuma vs my gief and I just blocked. There was nothing he could do.

Also, this is probably the first game I’ve ever played where I know a majority of the names in the credits.

It’s crazy where we’re at now.

Wow seriously? Damn, didn’t think the tutorial mode would’ve been that effective, well in that situation anyway. Good on you bro.

I want to thank Mike, Alex, Peter, and the Reverge crew for bringing such a masterpiece of a fighter to light and without a doubt revolutionizing the way modern fighters deliver.

I know everyone is going to hype up Mike and the fighting; So, Alex, thank you so much for bringing a beautiful story and deep characters into the fray. The artwork is pristine, The characters seem to span generations in appeal, and the story grips me more than any other fighting game has (Including the joy that is the BB storyline!). Please don’t stop the SG legacy here. I will gladly pay for DLC, disc releases, and brand new SG titles to see what new characters and stories are included.

Would thank these guys but I rather give them more of my money. When is the PC version dropping so I can buy this game again?

I’m sure if they could give you an answer to that they would. I’m definitely holding out for a not too late release for the all the PC supporters out there.

Really, do I need to thank these guys for working so hard to accomplish this game? Because I’m really more tempted to do something more extreme to show my appreciation for this game.

Seriously, mere thanks and congrats don’t do you guys justice. This may actually dethrone Darkstalkers and Smash Bros. as my favorite fighting game franchise of all time and a reminder of why I love video games and still play them to this day, regardless of the current opinion of the industry right now. This is possible GotY material. I want to buy everyone on the team their own personal stripper for making this game. But instead, I guess I’ll just show my gratitude through this:

EDIT: I should probably point out that that was the closest I could find of that EWJ ending w/ the “U’RE THE BEST” speech at the end but I think I got my point across nonetheless.

This sums me up in a nut shell

i just wanna say thanks

for peacock

GET EM SAMSON!!!

This is so true. heh.

In all honesty i was very skeptical about this game but i decided ehh it’s only 15 bucks. I am also very glad i did. The game is fantastic, and for only 15 bucks you really can’t go wrong. Didn’t really know much about it when i bought it but i love the character strength selection, combo system, and just the way it plays. After playing it for just a couple hours i thought, this is how a 2d fighter should feel.

Great job on this amazing game. Definitely looking forward to future DLC’s and hopefully more games

This game is badass! It’ll be even more so when it has lobbies so I don’t have to train while my two friends fight!

Grats to the team that made this game possible

Thanks for all your hard work guys, I must say during the credits it was pretty touching. Then I started laughing aloud when I saw Mr. X, Vulpes and Dr. Sub.

I didnt know it was possible for a thread on SRK to be this amazingly positive about anything.

Thats how you know that this game is truly something great.

To be totally honest, what drove me to buy this thing was the price point – I admit that I had very little interest in this game because of the art direction. But man, it really DOES look incredible in motion. It’s like silk, and the backgrounds are really snazzy. Very, VERY impressed.

By the end of this console gen, I think I’ll have racked up more time on SG than the rest of my XBLA titles put together.

Just hope it does well enough for us to see those DLC chars. The only thing I’m really worried about with SG is it possibly getting a little stale with a smaller cast + potentially large teams. I mean, Marvel2 did it, but …

Still, it blows my mind that you can get this game for less than a normal pizza delivery.
