Just to clear a few things up…
I shot the video that Tony’s talking about and yes, he has a copy of it. The issue is that I was there shooting for EVO so it’s got to be cleared through the powers-that-be before anything can be uploaded.
My only issue with the possible uploading is that the video that Tony has begins at the end of the match so the whole story isn’t really there. Yes, Stephanie talks a lot of trash when she’s playing (at least when she was playing Sherry), but to be fair, Sherry was pretty vocal during Stephanie’s other matches too.
Ya just can’t take that stuff personally, it’s part of competition. This isn’t “Let’s have tea and biscuits and be polite”, it’s Street Fighter. If you can use it to get under someone’s skin then you’ve created a competitive advantage for yourself. Hell, Michael Jordan was one of the biggest trash-talkers of all-time. You’ve gotta be able to back it up, though.
So yeah, there was a little bit of drama…
That said, it’s a good thing no actual fight broke out. I know a bunch of you are thinking ‘how could you break up a potential catfight? That’s so hawt!’ but the reality is that it would have been bad for EVO. Bad for the future of Women’s invitationals there (which I think went over pretty freaking well, all in all) and just bad for the community overall. G4 was there, that’s not the kind of thing you want them focusing on.
^ agreed with everything you said. Nothing wrong with a little smack talk but it does get under people’s skin and sometimes especially when things aren’t going your way, it can get a little out of hand. I think we’ve all been there so it’s not going to ruin anyone. I think if it does get released, it should have something in the beginning that describes what led up to this situation to be more fair to Sherry.
