Rate my Dudley Please!

I need some feedback on my Dudley. I am finally putting some videos up. The only problem is there is no sound. Sorry about that.

Hmm, you seem to have the basic idea of how to play him. Some thoughts:

  • NO RANDOM MGB’S! Regular MGB is trash, period, and the EX one is just for combos.

  • You need more f+RH for wakeup games. If you can’t link Corkscrew, practice! Drumming your fingers across each punch button helps out.

  • 2 low shorts XX super, and sweep juggles are important as well. Keep practicing…

  • The best way to land EX MGB is to use s.RH as a poke from outside its usual range, and buffer the EX motion. If they stick something out, you’ll hit the combo.

  • Throw! I hardly ever saw you try one.

  • f+MK leads to some neat offense, watch Kokujin matches to see what I mean. The super link from it is kinda difficult to confirm though, gotta be quick.

Where do you guys play, BTW? I’ve been looking for some other 3s heads nearby…

-Josh

I know about the MGB. Bad move I try to go for little chips at the end of the match but the first part was a garbage match. I like my 2nd better. Throwing… I hate getting too close to Alex… and Hugo.So I punish with RHs and HPs. I basically should have put up more matches. These don’t sum up my potential simply because of damn Alex I like to be VERY CAREFUL. Thats all

I’m in Dayton/Miamisburg,OH

Thanks for the feedback though man.

EDIT: Sorry for sounding like a n00b in advance. Stupid thread name

Wouldn’t an EX uppercut get you out of stungun every time? And whats with that Alex doing fierce flash -> sleeper hold? The sleeper hold isn’t that damaging, and since this is his post-stun attack it’ll do less stun. Haha sorry I’m judging the Alex more than you.

Don’t fear Alex on wakeup too much. He can’t do much without burning EX.

You need a lot of work here.

Where’s the combos? Gotta stay in there when you jump in. You do some cr. mp, cr. lk bullshit and just jump away. Stay away from cr. mk, just go for a 50/50 set up, pay off is way better, and they are safe on block. But honestly, your going to need to learn how to combo.

ssb overload! You gotta conserve those. Especially against alex, he actually can beat the ssb out with a lot of things. Not only that, but you shouldn’t be relying on that move, which it seemed like you were. In other words, don’t just use it like a poke. Good people will pick up on it and own you to hell.

Wake up game didn’t amount to much. Try some rose set ups, and yes, go for the f. rh super links, and the other things you can learn to do in the other threads.

Don’t be affraid of alex when hes close… atleast not that alex, he didn’t even do powerbombs, and rarely threw! (and as that other guy said, he went for the headlock after the flash stun lol) Why are you scared??? Wait till you play a good alex, you’ll have nightmares. Work on st. rh x ex machine.

Quit jumping back and forth, just stop doing that. it’s crazy lol

I really could go on… but your obviously just developing your dudley. You need to realize your habits, and force yourself to break them. Lotta work to do

Can’t I quote myself?
I did say I need to post more matches simply because I can’t measure my play style when I see those 2 matches.

Thanks though

uh go ahead an quote yourself. I wasn’t trying to make you look bad, I pointed out the weaknesses. Figured that’s what you wanted. And if anyone disagrees with me, please say so, so i don’t give this dude the wrong advice. I don’t think anyone would disagree with my advice though buck-a-roo.

If you want me to throw in something maybe a bit more positive sounding, I can say, nice job on the jump in to cr. mp to super combo. Shows your capable of more.

My bad I was kind of on the edge. My mom was sweating me the whole day so I took it the wrong way. I do have a reason for jumping… and it is to be crazy. I like to mess with people anyway I can although its not safe. One thing is that I forget to c.mp xx ducking or f.mk xx ducking throw.

Take it out on Kens and Chuns

You forgot Yuns…

  1. Get better opponents if you wanna get better. You throw away a lot of uppercuts, rarely do they get punished. Arkayne even failed to punish a blocked SA1!!

  2. You seem to throw more. That is a good thing:wgrin:

  3. I don’t think you used d+HK more than twice in four matches. Why not? Safe on block AND juggles when it hits. Mixing up f+HK and d+HK in corners is devastating. d+HK juggles them, simply f+MK reset and into SA1/3 for free.

  4. You are too jump-happy. OK, against crappy Yangs that might work, but otherwise would not be recommended by me.

I’m sure people will find some more flaws, these are just the ones that popped in my head while watching the videos.

Yeah that day I became way more aggressive toward the middle of the day. The Arkayne matches was earlier Yang was later. I thugh to myself about how my game was up to that point and realized somethings:

I didnt throw
no rose wake up game
Combos

So I played a Chun li at my college and I cornered him and knocked him down . So on wake up I whiffed one low and 1 UOH then c.rh x3 MGBx2 ducking upper. It came very smoothly with very little thought. I felt one step closer to being a better playerSo now I’m back in the lab training on my execution of combos.
Thanks man

Firstly, I think it was a great idea to post up your vids. Your going to learn easier this way.

Problems:

Too many nonhitconfirmable uppercuts. I don’t even know if cutting down would do the trick, I think for now, (since you are learning) it’s best to just take all those out of your game completely. (they are not necessary against scrubby opponents, really, its true)

Combo inconsistancy. Practice practice practice. It will become natural, but you don’t want to biff up the easier juggles so often.

Link your supers. I might have missed something, but I didn’t see any hit confirmed supers at all. Or any supers well utilized.

Still having issues on your ground game. Got work the cr. sh punches, practice cr. sh cr sh super. PRACTICE IT! If your not gonna do that, try the cr. sh, cr mp, cr fp chain. You landed a lot of your cr. sh punches, get some damage.

I saw another random ex machine… tsk tsk

Yes, lets see more cr. hk’s

Improvements:

No more cr. mk’s, good job.

You went for combos this time.

Applied good pressure, even if your tactics weren’t the best, you got the idea.

Didn’t go ssb happy

Looks better, keep up your practicing.

PS I wouldn’t link a super off a f. mk reset in a corner juggle… just cancel it to a fp uppercut.

I’m terrible with that… Don’t go for damage, but instead get wood with a high number of hits, especially when it all flashes like a mutha…:wgrin: People also tend to parry those corkscreww blows in the corner. BTW, what is the damage difference??

That’s what I get for shortenning my posts to the minimum…
What I was trying to say is that usualy go for more hits and flashiness than damage, often wasting meter in the process…
Parrying was mentioned in connection to your advice with the f+mk reset. If you d+HK them, then reset them with f+mk, the opponent can parry the SA that follows. Right?

I got it the first time tbfh.

But looking at the level they are at, he will get away with it.

u have a long way to go man.

stop jumping around so much for no reason, jump back fp for no reason is just wasted movement. don’t try to use jab uppercut as a wakeup, stop using MGB’s randomly, i saw no real mixup game, you didnt apply any pressure to land your supers, you use duck randomly too often, no ground game what so ever, etc…

watch some videos of kokujin/jima/fujiwara and notice what theyre doing (or not doing) and what you’re doing (or not).

Its time I started using an arcade stick and start training with that. Ghaleon’s and Josh’s technique were really sharp when using it. Time to reshape my game.

well thats one major start, switching to a good stick

when i saw you land your neutral throw neither one of you mashed at all and mashing is 100 times easier on any stick

like people have said, dont rely on EX SSB or normal SSB’s that much. they are good for throw fakeouts but they really arnt that hard to parry

big thing i noticed…ease back on the poking. against those players they seemed to not get the idea that 80% of the pokes done from you can be parried high and against a good parryer, they will parry you quite a bit for lots of damage (hello chun li).

you really gotta not use MGB’s except for EX combos off a s.RH and be very careful when you decide to use an uppercut reversal. if you do decide only really use the EX version.

you also need to get your 50/50 corner mixup goin. c.RH is amazing - safe on block and juggles for easy damage usually burning no meter. F+RH is amazing as well. quite safe on block, hits hard, has a mk followup, and most importantly links into SA1 and SA3. go to training mode and put the comp to croutch and with both supers practice linking them after a f+RH. you gotta get it down to muscle memory.

seriously the dudley mix up is this
option 1 - c.RH into juggle or safe on block
option 2 - c.lk x 2 into super or walk up throw
option 3 - f+RH linked into super, walk up throw, another f+RH, c.LKx2, etc…
option 4 - f+mk linked into super, is tough to do on reaction, best to to kinda late into there wake up or sometimes meaty
option 5 - nothing, sometimes simply doing nothing just outta their throw range can be very deadly. this is best for if you know your opponent is reversal happy, if you get that feeling back off and let them fuck up. doing this makes opponents think twice about reversaling

these are just a few basic options you should really know well for when you got them in the corner and chances are you will land something 50% of the time.

and whenever you land a super and the opponent is in the corner, throw the rose, it is such a valuable tool, and if people complain that your taunting them, tell them to fuck off haha.

well i could go on and on but i just wanted to tell you a few things

keep up the playing
