Rashid Match-Ups Thread

St.lk definitely best for sim tele. Also, if sim ever tries to do st mk xx yoga flame, you can v reversal the st. Mk and get a full punish (dash up cr… HP)

Also what OS do you guys use for his tele? I use st. Mp, HK or ex eagle spike

Any body got any good laura tips? She is by far my worst mu

Any body got any good laura tips? She is by far my worst mu

What are you having trouble with exactly? My goal is usually trying to frustrate Laura players by keeping out of her poke ranges, AA her always since J.MK is amazing, frametrap her on KD if she doesn’t quick rise, and destroy her once I have her pin in the corner.

St.Lk is your best friend throughout the match and especially when Laura end their strong with Lk elbow (-2)

I have trouble keeping her out. I feel like I can’t throw fireballs especially when she gets meter. Her jump can be anti aired but she only needs one junk to won the match. I don’t have problems with players who do elbow on block. I’m more concerned when I’m getting pressured by st.mp cr.mp strings

Need help vs Necalli

How do Rashid beat a Birdie who just blocks all day and walks back wards and jumps all day? It’s like I tried getting close and he starts jabbing and mk, or do that j mp. When I jump over, he cr mp(hits front and crossup!). When I eagle, it may or may not hit him mid jump. If he blocks it, I get a punish. If I try to get close enough to toss a qcf mk, he either jumps away or react with an armor move. And that j mp has the full length of hit box. It does not whiff. You just can’t walk away from it. Tried cr mp against it, it works sometimes, most times it trades or whiffs. I can roll under that but it lands me in the same situation as before again. EX mixer yes… but risky.

The only thing I can do when I do get near enough is to throw. I can throw a total of 3 times before he gets lucky with a simple combo such as mp headbutt while quite literally takes back all that tiresome effort that I work to landing those few throws.

Quite frankly, the damage output for Birdie’s simple punish outweighs all the offensive rush-downs that had been put in by Rashid. I have relatively good mix-ups, shimmy, and safe jumps in place. But all these are useless if he just jumps away whenever I get close and he blocks all day long. And I’m quite sick of winning on throws alone. It typically takes more than 80s to finish the match with this kind of Birdie. If anyone knows of an efficient way to shut this down for good. Please help. Otherwise I probably have to learn Alex just to beat specific turtling characters.

^ rashid has difficulties with opening people up in general, and his low damage output doesn’t help at all since when and if you do crack the shell, you only get meager damage out of it and then have to crack the shell again.

Against turtles, it is best to go for throws and learn counter hit set ups and just play core SF (repeatedly, especially against birdie)

Thanks. Core SF meaning? I don’t even know how to get him down when he kept jumping mp. Is it possible to eagle on reaction? I guess I have to use j mp and j lk more often against air to air. Most of my air attacks fall short against that lengthy hitbox of a birdie j mp man.

If the Birdie is jumping backwards walk him to the corner. Pay attention to his meter. Eagle spike on reaction to any food eating. Don’t jump at him unless you have the read on a chain grab. Once he is cornered… Have fun. Birdie has slow normals so you can bully him with st lk st lp and st mp in close. I think this MU is in Rashid’s favor.

Well, you don’t have to NEVER jump against him except for chains… If you feel like taking some risks, airborne Eagle Spikes will beat his cr.MP anti-air. Of course, if he just blocks, you’re very minus unless you spaced it perfectly (unlikely, even for an exceptionally good player) so that’s why it’s a risk.

I play birdie and maybe i can give you tips to shut him down. As a general gameplan you either hit and run or go all in. Birdie buttons are whatever up close but they do hurt. Having a 4 frame lk makes him honest upclose vs rashid. Make use of frame traps and obviously dont get too predictable. Also play as safe as you can, i know its tempting to ex mixer after a light mixer sometimes but thats the kind of momentum shift birdies crave. Im not sure how well spaced eagle kick has to be to not be punished but lab it vs birdies light bull head. It seems to be a consistent punish and knocks you down. Dont jump too much cause of his cmp and if you do be spaced and make the read of him about to go for a mk or like a sweep. Thats really the only safe time to jump. I also wouldnt advise jumping a can. Thats like a day one bait. And do your very best to stay out the corner. Even though he has ok pressure and like ghetto mix ups, just about every button he throws out is gunna space out yours. I do have some gameplay of decent rashids i played in ranked and casual and it seems even to me. Whoever gets momentum first and plays safer

Rashid match up numbers in my one month time playing him.

Vs. Alex: 5-5
Vs. Birdie: 6-4
Vs. Cammy: 5-5
Vs. Chun Li: 4-6
Vs. Dhalsim: 4.5-5.5
Vs. F.A.N.G: 5.5-4.5
Vs. Guile: 4-6 (worst matchup IMO)
Vs. Karin: 4-6
Vs. Ken: 5-5
Vs. Laura: 6-4
Vs. M. Bison: 5.5-4.5
Vs. Nash: 4-6
Vs. Necalli: 6-4
Vs. R. Mika: 5-5
Vs. Ryu: 5-5
Vs. Vega: 5.5-4.5
Vs. Zangief: 6-4

Damn, I don’t agree with some of these at all rofl.

Vs. Alex: 5-5
Vs. Birdie: 5-5
Vs. Cammy: 4-6
Vs. Chun Li: 4-6
Vs. Dhalsim: 6-4 (I actually think Rashid does really well vs Sim. You need to whiff punish all his limbs and trade with sweep at midrange. You jump for free vs him since you can alternate between air eagle and jump fierce)
Vs. F.A.N.G: 5-5
Vs. Guile: 5-5 ( Once Rashid knocks Guile down, he’s fucked. Just walk and block this dude. Early jump HP trades or wins with his cr.HP. If you jump towards him and he throws a boom react with ex air eagle)
Vs. Karin: 4-6 (Her footsies are better, but you’re better in her face. Neutral jump setups fuck her up since it forces a whiffed reversal)
Vs. Ken: 5-5
Vs. Laura: 5-5 (I don’t know how you think Rashid beats her. Maybe shit Lauras)
Vs. M. Bison: 5.5-4.5
Vs. Nash: 4-6 (Much harder than Guile. His dashes make it extremely difficult to ever get in. Coupled with his slow booms, you’re forced to take a lot of reads. However, if Rashid gets in. He fucks)
Vs. Necalli: 4-6 (I don’t know how you think Rashid beats him. Necalli is extremely hard to deal with. Has higher damage out, 3f jab, reversal. Amazing close range. Everything Rashid hates)
Vs. R. Mika: 4-6
Vs. Ryu: 5-5
Vs. Vega: 5-5 (A good Vega will keep Rashid out all day. His superior movement and footsies are really tough to deal with. But his lack of a good reversal means that when you get in. He’s fucked)
Vs. Zangief: 6-4 (cr.HP all day)

Lol I don’t blame you. But let me explain some of these. Again, this is from my experience.

Birdie- I feel like Rashid bodies him outside and inside, Birdie has to respect eagle spike. He can’t v-skill, any version. Once you can tell the difference between a whiffed throw and his v-skill (eat), he has to stay in the midrange. Up close, Rashid wins. He has a 3 frame short and so many plus frames. Birdie’s best shot is midscreen at mid range. Birdie can chain fireballs if you throw them and he has long buttons that can keep Rashid out. Mix in that EX dive grab, he can be trouble in that range. st. HK can punish chain, and leaves you at +2 on hit so you are in. As far as his midrange buttons, unless the Birdie player has flawless footsies, spacing and can sniff out whether Imma dive kick or jump in, it can’t be that hard to get in on him. I’ve had plenty of success whiff punishing long buttons with st. HP xxx EX Eagle Spike midscreen and using st. MK and st. HK.

Dhalsim- Maybe I was too obvious with my jumps, but Dhalsim’s cr. MP and B+HP do a pretty good job against Rashid’s jumps. I did have trouble with st. MK pressure, but like you said, you can just counterpoke with sweep.

Guile- Guile players just need to mix their booms up on Rashid. If you are so obvious with your booms, any player will find a way thru it. Whiff jabs, make him jump, somersault him in the grill. Rashid gotta make a read to get started in this match-up. Guile beats him at everything but up close. One thing I didn’t explore in this match-up was Guile’s v-skill. It’s probably SUPER free to v-skill ex eagle spike. So cool he can’t do that for no reason in neutral. But he can still chuck booms and play footsies.

Karin- Has everything Necalli has but a command grab, a dive kick and a meterless reversal. In fact, I’m sure Karin has better frame data than Necalli. And she has better mid ranged buttons. Only range Rashid wins in (but has no reason to be there in this match-up) is full screen cause that hoe is away from you lol. If Rashid gets started, its tough for her, but its tough for everyone lol.

Necalli- I was just arguing with someone about this match-up. I think Rashid takes this clean no debate. He wins at every range against Necalli. The only thing that makes Necalli dangerous is the fact that you really can’t jump on him and his V-trigger is annoying to deal with. However, you can play a very annoying guerilla style in this matchup and get definite results.

Full screen: Now, alot of players not gonna see the value in this but against Necalli, who’s meta is changing to a psuedo-fireball character to gain v-meter early in the match, this is important IMO. In no way can he do seismo. Ever. If he does that shit full screen, H Eagle Spike him in his shit. Full screen, you can run, block and backdash to bait Necalli’s slash and seismo game if you are too scared to H eagle spike anything Necalli does full screen and you can still punish shit running lol.

Up close: This is where it can get wild, because Necalli has a meterless DP and a 3f jab, HOWEVER, both of y’all buttons have trash range lol. So what you do is lay on the plus frames, mix up block strings and stay confident with the ranges of your normals. Meaty on wake-up if he has V-trigger cause you know these Necalli players love waking up with cr. Jab xxx v-trigger. Catch that bum mashing buttons lol. St. HP (CC) combos do like what, 400 for a meter? If he has no meter and you knock him down, you can meaty with a ranged cr. MK and his invincible DP (the heavy one) will whiff. If Necalli is pressuring you, anytime he does a stomp, you can v-reversal out and he can’t do shit lol. In fact, if you see him do a stomp, you can just EX Spinning Mixer, if you want to escape and do damage.

Midscreen: Necalli’s best shot at this match-up, because Necalli has more damaging normals in the midrange, his v-trigger and the threat of random dash command grab. Patience is key for both characters. The Rashid player should challenge these dashes, and really, challenge alot of stuff Necalli players do in neutral. The best range for Rashid to be at if you prefer to fight midscreen is just outside of roundhouse, so you can whiff punish medium and heavy buttons easy.

Anti airing: This is the trickiest part for a Rashid player in this match-up because Necalli has a divekick and a great jump in. It’s tough to use that cr. MP anti-air that we all love because of the different timings. Solution? Use H Spinning Mixer. This anti-air is perfect for Necalli’s floaty arc. Even if it trades, the Necalli player still gets knocked down and you are in a slight advantage in neutral (which i would probably use to either jump at him or H WWS into mixup). Once Rashid players starts using that consistently, I think Necalli and other divekick characters like Cammy won’t be too much of a problem.

Laura- I don’t see how Rashid can lose to her if he’s not an idiot or the Laura player is just strictly better than you. She has more range than him but Laura EXTRA can’t wake up on Rashid. Cr. HP baby.

My list

Vs. Alex: 5-5
Vs. Birdie: 5-5
Vs. Cammy: 4.5-5.5 (Mini Necalli but a little less annoying)
Vs. Chun Li: 4.5-5.5
Vs. Dhalsim: 5.5-4.5
Vs. F.A.N.G: 5-5
Vs. Guile: 5-5 (Could change in the future)
Vs. Karin: 5-5
Vs. Ken: 4.5-5.5
Vs. Laura: 5-5
Vs. M. Bison: 5-5
Vs. Nash: 4-6
Vs. Necalli: 4-6 (I use the same strategy as Corn minus the low profile & HP mixer–I will start doing it though. But he is still no walk in the park.)
Vs. R. Mika: 5-5
Vs. Ryu: 4.5-5.5
Vs. Vega: 5-5
Vs. Zangief: 6-4

I’m getting bopped by mika every week in tourney. I need some serious help

What’s the problem? She’s easier to keep out than the other grapplers (except Failgief). Lots of crouch short, lots of wws, neutral jump (careful of wingless), avoid doing Rashid’s -2 stuff.

Flowchart ryu is really annoying. Crouching mp almost always looses to his jump in attacks, Ryu obviously wins the fireball game, he has basically twice Rashid’s damage output, and frame traps with f.mp and light mixer get eaten by dp. Any tips? I’m a pretty srcubby Rashid. Despite my pic, I main Chun and F.A.N.G., not Rashid. I just think he’s really likable. Using him is fun, but I kind of suck at it.

I’ve never found Rashid’s low strong super reliable as an AA. Stand short is very good if they are jumping in deep, you get a mixup as they land (or just push them back out with low short). If they are far I usually just M Mixer. Jump short/jab/strong are also great defensive A2A. V-Trigger and super are both amazing AA, if you have full super and someone jumps at you they are very stupid.

Your goal is to get past Hadoukens, not contest them. At mid-range you can use Nail Assault on reaction but the spacing is picky. Better yet do Front Flip instant air EX Eagle Spike to plow through with fireball immunity; more damage and works at more ranges, as a bonus it still counts as v-skill and builds v-meter. If you are too close to do either of those, blocking and doing L Mixer will beat anything Ryu presses except DP. If you are really close, you can block and sweep, but good Ryu’s won’t do that. At longer ranges you can use a combination of WWS, L air Eagle Spike, rolls, and neutral jumps to avoid fireballs. If you predict a fireball, Front Flip H Eagle Spike can hit from full-screen, and you can switch to L version if they don’t throw one (do it quick, Shoryu reaches a lot farther than Ryu’s arm). Wall-jumps can also help deal with fireballs but that is very situational.

Light Mixer and fMP on block are frame traps against you, not the opponent, use those moves sparingly.

Rashid’s low short is extremely important. It’s the second longest reaching light button in the game; only Birdie’s low jab reaches farther and it is has 5f startup. When you have Ryu at the tip of your cLK range, most of his buttons including DP will whiff (unless he hits an extended limb of course), and his longer buttons will get stuffed by your 4f poke. At this range you can harass very effectively, stMK forward movement lets you maintain this spacing without letting up the pressure, forcing the opponent to take a risk to get out.
