Instinct? Some people are just wired bad. They are also brought up bad from an early age. Some people are also just really, really desperate. Like you mentioned, cannibalism is only done when really desperate. Some people’s instincts might be so powerful that desperation leads to rape.
I doubt there’s much research into why people rape people as we don’t really want to arrive at any conclusion that may diminish the crime.

Depends on the law of the land. In the United Kingdom you would avoid a murder conviction if you can show that any reasonable person would lose their self-control as a result of the provocation, you instead be convicted for voluntary manslaughter. Don’t know how things work in Turkey or America.

If you shoot someone 10 times and then you grab a knife and stab them in the stomach it would be incredibly difficult to show that the force was not excessive and that you didn’t have the option of running away and contacting the local authorities.

Well the US is like the polar opposite of those places where women are guilty no matter what; here men are guilty until proven otherwise. Better? Worse? Depends on where you’ve been raised, the dominant perspective of your particular surrounding peers/culture, blah blah.
