@anakron: it appear to me that you don’t follow fighting games too much, but in Japan high level online play is already available. There’s a series of tournaments called “Gods Garden” which is done online, they are able to do that because they have the technology unfortunally in America we don’t so for the mean time high level KOF online anywhere in america does not exist but I dream of the day.
About “Following Top Players” I believe there’s a very fine line between following and dick riding so I try to stay away as much as I can. However I do know that DUNE, Kyabetsu, OOGOSHO were at SBO this year but they didn’t win so if that’s enough for you to call them “Top players” then will know how the “US Top Players” stand against one of them since DG is already working in getting DUNE to Arcade Infinity once we get the update. Per the last vids we’ve seen about XiaoHai and Dakou suck at KOF so I don’t think it would be worth playing agaist them, but I know they were good at OLD KOF’s.
What I do know is that they follow the Arcade Infinity players, since we’ve seen a few of our vids on their ASIAN forums front page such as combo vid by ME with Yuri, and another one from RJ, a few match vids from Reynald and Mr.KOF and some of the Kane317’s Chin strats. Maybe they were pointing out how not to play the game lol.

Also, having better technology = higher level online play? Are you fucking serious? It’s because they don’t have scrubs there that rely on lag tactics. GGPO has NO input lag depending on your settings and that’s less than the cabinets you’re playing KOF XIII on at AI. The rest is just people having competent internet.
You just showed me that you are an ignorant person and it’s not worth to continue a conversation with you, I play Snow Bros on GGPO on a daily basis cause it’s the best game available on GGPO.

Anyways, here’s my take on the situation. I’m Mexican, so I am allowed to speak on behalf of my country, knowing what’s up.
Mexico has a huge problem with essentially being underachievers at everything. I spoke about this a while ago in another KOF-related post – imagine that! – that was directed at Dark Geese. There are definitely some individuals in Mexico that occasionally strive above this mediocrity (Ana Gabriela Guevara, Chicharito Hernandez, KOF Abraham), but unfortunately these people are few and far in between and this is why Mexico itself is in the pitiable state it is now (and I mean this in a complete sociopolitical and economic way: Mexico right now is a fucking horrible place to be in). They can’t succeed because they can’t come together, they can’t get past some of their really insular and dumb way that their culture works, and they just can’t progress as a nation. I am probably fucking terrible at fighting games for all my life simply because I started all my playing in Mexico and now I can’t get rid of all my shitty habits that I learned from everyone else, who simply went exclusively for “cheap shit” and never bothered trying to grow out of it or trying to develop more from there.
A lot of this underachieving / “easy way out” mentality can be seen in everything Mexico does, too. They have a gridiron football league for college teams; it’s fucking miserably bad. They have a Mexican soccer league; it’s fucking miserably bad. Their best soccer players get shipped out elsewhere because they have nowhere else to develop, and the Mexican league sucks for development purposes (it can beat the MLS rather handily, but it sucks for actually teaching the game properly; the MLS will probably start to dominate it talent-wise in a decade and I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Mexican players who were a bit too good to play at home started taking better contracts in the USA to develop). They’re practically letting drug cartels and the PRI (or PRD, which is worse!) slowly take over the country because no one there is decisive or really willing to do shit. A culture of underachieving and laziness!
Anyways I got really crazy here, the moral of the story is that Mexico is all fucked up and even though you have the occasional really good KOF player in Mexico (Abraham), Mexico’s best can’t compete with, say, Japan’s best, or really even it’s high-mid. That’s actually kind of why I think a lot of the Mexicans that got the fuck out to run to the USA have the right idea. A lot of the people who dipped tend to be heads of family that can be pretty hard working and know that you gotta work hard to get shit done. They also know they’re tired of getting fucked by their own country and would rather actually do something for themselves rather than lazy it up.
HOW DID I GET ALL OF THIS OUT OF THIS THREAD I DON’T KNOW anyway Mexican KOF players < Japan KOF players and I’m Mexican and I fucking approve of this message and I don’t even like Japanese KOF players at fucking all. I’m a fan of dakou, xiaohai and that’s it fuck everyone else
