So basically you say the only thing holding back dreamcancel is the lack of kof players and yet you quit. That’s real big of you. Constantly complaining about the lack of kof players when you are part of the problem.
I’m in the channel plenty. I’m not sure why Anakron boasts that there are always a decent number of people in the channel when really its only 3-4 people talking usually and the rest are idle. I’m not saying the channel is evil or anything. It’s just that when you show someone an example of a kof “community” or attempt at one, should I point to #snkplaymore where I generally just see gossip most of the time or should I point to dreamcancel where everything is more organized and if I don’t want to hear random gossip/trashtalk then I won’t go to that specific thread?
Anakron says “we’re not all like that”. But I don’t generally see him discouraging that type of behavior.
Yeah, because posting on a forum instantly means that you play the game, right? Wrong. It’s exactly the opposite. Post less, play more. Although Dreamcancel is good nexus for information, it’s also a nexus for scrubs to just increase their post count.
Yeah, because I’ve definitely seen you talking up a storm in the channel. It isn’t even my channel to begin with, and why should I be the one discouraging anything? If you have a problem, tell the person or leave. In fact, I actually do tell people to just shut up and stop beating a dead horse.
You keep comparing an IRC channel to a forum when the two are polar opposites. It’s like you’re trying to compensate for something it lacks. I’m sorry the channel isn’t in the same numbers of #capcom and there isn’t someone to always answer your questions or to play a game with you.
…and #SNKplaymore is a good nexus for scrubs to gossip about other kof players. What’s your point? Does posting in a forum really take up time? It takes about as much time as posting a message in the channel. Believe me when I say I’d rather be playing kof instead of replying to your flawed arguments but unfortunately there is a fine line between posting and playing while at work.
Yeah, scrubs that wrote the Dreamcancel and SRK wikis, am I right? Funny how you say that my logic is flawed when you can never back up your arguments.
I love how you’re talking about me in the channel right now and saying that I’m butthurt. I’m not the one using a channel as your own personal psychologist.
I’m not the one getting butthurt…

Using the lack of players as an excuse is bullshit cause Jojo’s community has less players then kof and it is still going strong. so shut up Anakron you’re actually hurting this community more by making more excuses.
People play JoJos offline at tournaments? News to me.

There was casuals at NEC with flithierich and Tweleve3s. Did you go to that?
@syxx Yeah, I’m bad at using English.
Casuals don’t imply that there is a community. If that was the case, then every game would have a community. However, KOF has to move on to bigger and better things and in order to do that, more players would definitely help. You need numbers to get the attention of people. If KOF XIII was around the same time as last EVO and was in the runnings, Melty Blood would have still won. Melty Blood also surprises people at NEC with the sheer number of players it brings. Also, I’m not sure about the people that play JoJos, but not everyone in the KOF community is a fan of netplay! In fact, Giby told me today that although many people were around the KOF XIII set up at SCR, only 20-30 people actually played.
I am actually friends with Tweleve and he did tell me that there were jjba casuals. I don’t know if there was an actual tournament or not, but more tournaments/events make scenes bigger and generate more interest. We live in the hype age and tournaments are what bring in hype.
Saying tournaments is what a community is not how to approach it. You have to build up from casuals in order to get a tourney scene even going. By neglecting the casual scene you are in a world of hurt when it comes to a tourney scene for a game.
I never said nor implied that people have to exclusively play in tournaments. A community has to have a healthy balance of tournaments in order for it to get recognition and grow.
So Vampire Savior appeared out of nowhere for UFGT7?
You’re bringing up a game for a tournament that hasn’t even happened yet so you can’t even gauge how many people participated in it. Not to mention the fact that it isn’t even a main game. I don’t want to sound patronizing but it also has nothing to do with what I said. Vampire Savior has had tournaments in the pasts and was even a big hype game in the past. I don’t believe that it’s a fair comparison.
No it wasn’t Alpha 3, marvel 1, and Cvs1 was taking over during those times. Vampire wasn’t even getting a chance.
Vampire Savior came out a year before A3 and SF3 was in it’s first iteration and it was NOT popular. Either way, back then Vampire Savior was different and it stood a chance because players from other games were interested in it and picked it up. The same thing has to be done with KOF although this generation’s players are certainly… err, different (lol sf4).
Btw, cvs1 came out in 2K along with MVC2. If anything, Marvel was the one taking over!
Damn there flawless post here.
@Answer: You kids are late. I’ve been on the retired boat since early October. I’ll peep my head in the door if XIII gets any kind of interest going. Only difference with me retiring is that no one cares.
Everyone back then was all about street fighter cause during those times there was still alpha 2, xmen vs street fighter, and super turbo. If you look in the old alt.games.sf2 news group. you’ll no follow ups on vampire tournaments, but you’ll easily find anything street fighter.
took me some time to find this

@the_judge No to keep a community going you need few people that have a passion for the game and are welcoming to new people thats how Vampire and Jojo’s is still around.
