I learned how to roll cancel in cvs2 without the aid of a stick on a dreamcast pad, along with pretty much everything in marvel used in high level play. I prefer stick but if you’re persistent and really want to learn execution shouldn’t be a problem, if you’re practicing on pad don’t use your thumb play it like a keyboard and do a chicken claw on the first four buttons(index and thumb on square x, middle on triangle. ring and pink on r1, r2… I can actually play guile better on pad then i can on stick…) Kara throwing isn’t that hard it’s all in succession the best way to practice it is to practice the motion on a table first. Drum your fingers and listen for a flawless succession, you almost want to roll your wrist with your fingers positioned correctly. P linking is like the same thing but it matters the combo you’re trying to plink. Double tapping just tap your ring finger and then index in a drum succession, practice it in your free time till you can dwiddle your fingers like the best. I learned roll cancel electricity in math class.
Also if you get to play bwiyon on friday so i don’t want to hear no tournament experienced player excuses. You create your own tournament experience brotha.
i find it funny that so many people are quitting sf4 until super comes out
i bet 90% of the game is going to the stay the same. you might as well keep playing and learn the system while you have time bc youre going to be ass when the new game comes out too
Wednesday. I got some tips for you and its coming from a person who was in your shoes. I didnt start playing till about 2 years ago. Youre going to get beat and there is no way around it. The trick is to learn why you got beat and what you can do to fix that. The second thing you need to understand is the street fighter community. Youre only going to get better by playing but you cant annoy the people you play with. You got to remember that a lot of us came from older fighting games in the past so we are all at least in our 20’s. To us you sound like a kid that plays Halo (no offense) If you want to get better thanAsk questions and keep playing. If you lose, shake the other persons hands and move on. For myself I had to get beat early on but i slowly got better just by reading the forums and getting info from other players. Once you established yourself in the community and you dont annoy other then you will be invited to play in casuals which to me is the most important. I played with Nerd Josh and Tony B but then I slowly started meeting other people in the community such as Ill Will, Most of everybody in MA, Western Ct, ETC… The more playtime you get the better you will get but dont annoy the people who can help you get to where you want to be.
Ita about an hour away. The rason im going is because i usually work on Fridays till about 7 but I am working too many hours this week so they are letting me out at 3. Hope you can make it Magno. Its been too long.
I piano randomly at work as well. Playing on pad is hard but if you want to do it you got to use the fight pads but honestly wednesday you will need a stick if you want to be serious.
Its true guys. Learn your characters. Learn your combos and how your character plays.
i remember how back when i started there was no such thing as videos showing you how shit gets done
I am still horrible at rollcancelling lol… moved on to K groove to feel less of a scrub =P
but turned out to get nasty at some JD’s
I miss CvS2 machine at the mall everyday of my life =[
Haha you’re so right, when I had first seen a video about roll cancelling it took me over a week to be able to do it five times in a row. :looney: Though by our next ranbat that I used to throw in our arcade I had already mastered rc Blanka before most people even knew what the glitch was.:lovin: Now you got magneto maniac/Jav1ts showing everyone whats up on youtube haha.
im down for that im sure everbody else we’d just need to remember the results
and how we split ranbat points. I propose ala TGA style (taken from TGA thread)
Point system details:
1st Place - 10 Points
2nd Place - 7 Points
3rd Place - 5 Points
4th Place - 3 Points
5th Placers - 1 point
-When the Ranking Battles are finished, it will be followed by a Tournament(thus ending the Season and resetting the scores.)
I’m not gonna make it this week. My classes are starting up soon and I need to buy books and art supplies so I’m extremely tied for cash. Sorry guys, good games to all.
It took me a while to find this thread due to the completely unrelated yet awesome name.
@Bwiyon
It’s excellent that you’re going to make it this Friday, it has been a dog’s age since I’ve last seen you. Also, for the record, these meet ups don’t end at 9, but rather 1 or 2 in the morning (the latest was 4am, courtesy of Blue9). So if you get out from work at 7, you would not have 1 hour of casuals, but 6-8~ish. Have you gotten in touch with Kayin since he moved back?
@Gonzales
The ranbats idea is most excellent. Although, we should think of a prize for the season champion(s) other than DAT FIGHT MONEY. Although, that is a bit ambitious at this time.
Hey everybody I just wanted to let everybody know they should post in the BG tourney thread also to keep it alive. There have been updates so please check it out and post up.
Jeremy, Its not the fact that I would get there late. its the fact that I have work on Saturday morning. Its about an hour drive to get back home and i have work at 9:45. Its not too bad but i like to get some sleep in because saturdays are usually busy. So i mean i get there by 8-8:30 then i have to leave by 12-1 so its a little rough. We will see how this friday goes. Oh and by the way kayin is crashing with me until he figures out his situation. so he will be with me when I come up.
lol at roll canceling. I remember learning about that when I thought I was hot shit in CvS2, Only for Ratio2Vice to straight flat out embarass me. Actually was the thing that got me into Tourneys now that I remember.
