haha, that cracked me up so much. Loving these vids, although I agree that they could use a little more SF commentary. Why not explain to your dad some of the finer points?
I see what you guys are saying and they are all very good points broadcasting wise but I don’t plan to do a really long series. I haven’t got the energy and the time to commit to it. My girl is already very angry with me for canceling so many dates lol.
My format:
- Record fights in Ranked Mode where I either abuse a tactic or show how bad they are.
- Speak over the video.
It will probably be less than 10 episodes to be honest. I didn’t want to get into a certain pattern or format that will eventually get boring. I like to try to be creative and give people something they don’t expect. I want people to feel like they have to watch every episode and not just assume that episode 19 will be pretty much the same as episode 32.
Even if I do make more than 10 or so episodes I’ll definitely stop when Super is out!
I did mean to talk a bit about Dan in that last episode as a back up if my Dad wasn’t talking much but he was fine.

Just so everyone knows. I wasn’t being lazy. I didn’t do a voice over because it would be even harder to follow than it already is. Or I would have had to leave out the music altogether for a voice over. Try to look at this as a form of art or video production rather than a SF4 fight with commentary. The reason its still part of the series is because it is a pun on the reversals. I also took the time to find fights against Ryu only and get land an Ultra in that fight. Mix in the video and audio editing and you’ll find that this episode took me much longer than any of the previous ones did.
Let me know what you think if you like it or if you don’t like it. So far I’ve gotten 50/50 responses for it. I won’t be doing this again though. It was experimental.

Did you notice that the guy picked random and ended up with Guile? I think it was his first time playing Street Fighter. He didn’t know anything. He didn’t even know how to block. I jumped over him and he was still walking in the same direction.

That video really exposed your lack of footsies and knowledge of the game in general. You need to play rounds where you don’t use specials OR focus attack. You literally only know how to do combos. Most of the games you were just holding down focus all game. If you want to get better, learn how to footsie without focus, which is insanely predictable and punishable.

Well, it can certainly be added into SF4, but watch the first part of the vid again, you did nothing but focus attack. All Sagat had to do was wait a second, and tiger knee, or just dash in and throw. Footsies is about being unpredictable (in a smart way), and using pokes into baitout your opponent into making a mistake. SF4 is a really hard game to learn footsies in, since there are a lot of unconventional characters (Viper, Rufus etc). However, even with just the mentality of trying to implement them into your game, you’re taking a big step forward.
I’ve watched your other videos, and you’ve got your combos and mixups down. So now what you have to do is start thinking “how do I smartly land that first hit in the combo?”. This could involve anything like baiting out a throw tech, then punishing with a neutral jump roundhouse, with a low forward etc., or simply taking a point in the game and damaging him only with pokes and counter pokes to get your opponent frustrated. Focus attacks are definitely a dangerous part of Sakura’s game, but you have to learn to use them smartly, instead of initiating everything with them.

Notice that whenever Sabre tries a focus, he either whiffs or gets punished, but when he just uses his normal pokes, he lands the hard hits in everytime.

Thanks man these are some really great tips I really have to find more ways in than just jumping in and focus attack. True is I’m one of the more poor quality Sakura players in the Sakura Character Discussion topic.
When did we play? I rarely remember people I randomly play in Ranked or Champ. I’m in Player match on private 8 times out of 10. Add me and we can play more and I can learn more. And it’d be great to be on your team in Super.

I really wish this wasn’t your last vid. Its so nice watching someone else playing Sakura and winning for a change by comparison to myself. I’ll definitely add you and we’ll play Super though and its a shame you’re cutting off the vids here but eh, it was a good run while it lasted.
well you don’t have to go ranked mode. I think most of us forgot about that part. Just you playing while muttering whatever is cool. I think it’s good for those who want a break from watching competitive play.

I’m gonna put Sakura on the bench with Cammy and Sagat while I get started on Duds. MAybe after a while if I’m feeling confident I’ll continue the series in Super but for now its time to learn and be a complete noob again. I even have to learn Sakura’s new ultra setups, learn the tweaks to other characters moves. LEarn the new match ups etc. Everything has to be looked over again. ITs not the time for me to record myself not punishing stuff cos I don’t know what’s what.
btw I played Champ mode today and made it to semi finals twice. Yay me! So many people are G1-B / G1-A now. Its tough for me. I now have 18k in GP. I guess thats where it stops for me in SF4.
