great as always, rook. nice to see that you’re still around.
U killed it man!
K-I-L-L-E-D IT!
Man, that could pass for Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins! Awesome job Rook!
this’s awesome man. armor’s a bit tricky for me too. lots of times, i just wing it and throw strong contrast in regardless of lighting.
Oh shit. This is hot. Dynamic pose and lighting.
Beef up that core shadow and highlight man. For metal I make the core shadow really dark, the reflected light lighter than usual, and the highlight really bright and crisp. Then I go over the highlight with a soft brush to get that shining look.
Nice pic rook.
Perhaps playing around with overlay and multiply layers would help to render the armour. Also, if you don’t want the armour to apppear too shiny and ‘new’, adding some texture either manually or finding images on the web and placing them on top on a multiply layer.
=ddd
Wow. I love your art! Most of the time all of my characters’ facial expressions look the same when I draw them There’s so much uniqueness in each sketch. Added you on DA as well~
I like looking at sketches a lot for some reason, at times I like looking at it more than the finished work.
the knight looks bad ass!
Amazing sketches, feel like a mix of Yoji Shinkawa (one of my fave artists ever) and some Dreamworks design docs I saw a while back.
Really like how destinct your characters look, even the ones that are just quick sketches with minimal detail.
thx Diavle
a bit static, and the brim of his hat is a tad large. Might rework this someday… (shyeah right)
you bumped a 3yr old thread haha.
Solid stuff as always man. Cross-hatching is dope.
I would maybe use 100% opacity brush when you layin colors so you’re forced to be more careful with your choices.
thx DFist
I hope to resume my informal studies in color this June… will try your advice
I missed the wave lol. rook is chill with his sketches, well done
Always want to see more from you… I’m kinda interested to try that coloring tip as well. Def something I need to work on ha.
