Random vs Stick with a character/Team

I want improve on “The king of fighters 98&2002” i play very casual SFV&MK11.

I would love read your opinions on this two questions.

  • Should i pick a team then focus strickly on this 3 characters?
  • Should i play “Random” strickly for some months before pick a team?

My goal is improve on a rushdown style to be able play with my friends on our weekly parties.

Pick 3 characters that suit you and have a feel for. Then go into practice mode. Practice all there timing. Combos. Build up muscle memory. Stick to same 3 characters. Repeat combo u see others player doing against you after in practice mode. It just takes time
