Random Select Winter Showdown - Dec 15th

We’ll seed the top 4 players who show up based on the ranbat rankings.

Yo, I was wondering whether MAS sticks will be provided if people don’t have their own sticks. Also, any more info on the parking situation for those of us out of towners? Would you recommend that we just go with the two parking structures within a one block radius?

I’ll be bringing a DC, TDC2, Anniversary Edition (for PS2) and 2 converters. I estimate that Pablo’s caravan will arrive by 2PM if we depart on time.

I don’t know about the MAS stick situation… we don’t have MAS’s most of us use either custom sticks or HRAPs… a few of the local marvel players have them, so maybe they will bring them but I can’t say for sure. Parking Structures are the best bet… they are both close to the location with the one on broadway being closer than the rest of them.

13.25 hours away now. Everything seems to be in order. See everyone tomorrow. Please be on time!!

Good luck to everyone participating.

So, this is who I am bringing:

Julien Beasley
Julian Blake
Keith Hwang/Huang
Dan Hwang
"The Asian Sensation" Brian Ma
Nate Montes
Pablo “The Sexy Beast” Basilio

Yeah, we are bringing some heavy hitters. We got ST and Marvel held down for the crown, please believe.

Nate informed me that John “LTB” Michaels is taking Master Josh Ray, they have both attained the secret scrolls in their respective games.

My caravan will be there from 2-2:30pm, so the 5 on 5 is good to go. We are strictly ST and Marvel, sorry about my excessive sign ups. That is just how things worked out.

Nighty night kids.

Awesome. See you guys when you get here.

?

I don’t feel good. I guess I’m going to come anyway since Seattle’s going. I’m bringin a DC also.

anybody down for marvel comp tonight after the tourney? call jonathan at 3528715572

^-- That’s not Jon, is it?

Hope the tourney turned out good. I wish I could have gone but I’m glad the other TC 3S players were able to show up. Can’t wait to see the results. Did anyone film any footage (in any games)?

We filmed at least the top 4 matches of every tournament. Nate did MvC2 with a his camcorder, everything else was direct feed with a DVR. I’ll probably have everything up by the end of next week.

Results will be posted soon.

Thanks for the most well-organized and classy tournament I have ever attended! Really glad I went, hopefully another can be thrown before the next evo. Had a great time.

Lawrence raped me free 5-0 on a first to five money match.

Theo put me in losers, and beasted me out of losers.

Thanks for the good times, guys. Hope to see you at Zach’s Friday.

Just got home now. It was a great event at a kick ass venue. Thanks SamY, Ross, and everyone else who made it possible. I’ve posted the ST and MvC2 results here. Beasley, please leave the server up tomorrow and I’ll input the brackets. Kinda tired now. Will definitely post more acknowledgments after some rest.

Awesome tournament everyone, I had a blast

Now it’s time to start planning the PNW majors!

Damnit, I never got that money match vs. Pablo! We need to do that next gathering at Zach’s. I’ll bring cheese and low tier rape, sucka.

Thanks again to Sam, Ross (especially for leting us crash at your place Fri. and Saturday. You saved us a lot of time and money!), and Mark for organizing the tourney and bringing players together. Though I hope to see some better PR outside of SRK next time, looking at the Veteru situation and whatnot. Great venue, great atmosphere, and lots of good times.

GG to:
-Sam B, Lawrence, and Seattle players in MVC2. I was surprised to go toe-to-toe with such good players until the end of some matches, only to have them clutch play and show me why they’re the best in PDX. Congrats to Sam for blasting through untouched. Sorry for not being there on time for the tourney; maybe next time we’ll be better organized.

  • Jetay, Virsaga, and other PDX ST players: You didn’t see that Cammy coming, did ya? Good games to all of you. There was much better execution in most games than I’ve ever seen in the NW.

-Guilty Gear players: You’re all on another level compared to the “scene” up north of Seattle. When pad players place in guilty gear and keyboard players give top finishers competition… I don’t know what to say about that. That’s messed up >_<

3S players: I played once and lost to an Alex. That was discouraging enough to stop playing.

SNK gamers: that was a refreshing change at a fighting game event. There were a lot more players than I though working Nate and Julian over. Good stuff, guys.

Good shit on taking 3rd in Marvel Dan

Thank you very much to the PDX crew for hosting such a great event. I want to have another one!

The 5v5 was really fun. Congrats to the Portland team for winning. It was very fun and exciting! We’ll have to do it again next time!

Acknowledgments to the following people:

fatbear, KabukiMono, Hellsap, and whomever else worked to make this possible.
PSU for supplying the venue and much of the equipment for little/no charge.
Portland players for being nice to hang out with.
Pablo and Brian for driving my lazy ass.
#1Geesemaster for owning me in tournament then borrowing my stick to beat on others.
#1Geesemaster and RayBladeX for rising to the occasion and dominating the 5v5.
Paul Lee for letting me borrow his converters.
All the Portland MvC2 players for the tournament and casual matches.
Seattle ST for dominating the tournament despite my own choke-artistry.
dann, for repping the Seattle Marvel scene when no one else would.

If you and Pablo would have worn your luchador masks and fought, I’m sure the organizers would have worked to fit you into the “special events” time slot.
