Do you know how to drive one?
Do you have readily access to the larger amounts of fuel required to drive one?
Do you even know where to fill it up?

Now using it as a hardened shelter, yeah it could be effective, but otherwise, I’ll stick to my Jeep.

The armory has tanks full of fuel I counted 3 last time I was there. Tank is driven by two pedals and a steering wheel each pedal controlling each set of runners. On the outside of most military vehicles it is has been painted on it with the word Fuel and a little white arrow.

3. Baseball bat. Are you serious? A bat will require serious, tiring energy all while making a lot of THWACK noises risking more zombies and making it useless in a group attack. Most zombies are only killed by a cracked open brain, and unless you’re a major leaguer I’m willing to bet nobody can crack open a skull without some serious effort. I mean, you can’t really stun them you have to kill them. The chainsaw is a terrible choice for fuel and noise, bringing it down to the katana or machete. At the end of the day, the machete is more useful because its smaller and applicable as a tool and sidearm compared to a large blade that would require training to be effective. Machete all the way.

A bat would require no more energy than the others, and I’m not looking to lop off heads, I have other weapons for killing. Its to demobilize them. Its to give me some space to keep moving, maybe in a small group of zombies. Sure, a machete is nice, light, and can cut, but you risk it getting stuck in either their body, or maybe in a panic’d wiff, into a tree or something. A bat is going to bounce off and keep trucking. And if I’m really worried about the “thwack” (which if the zombie is already that close, I could give two shits less about), I have a nice and quiet crossbow.

4. The flashlight would be a poor choice agreed, and I think there is more use for rope than being useless, it would be a great safety option from a roof or ledge to lower and raise. However, I’m not sold on a swiss army knife as I don’t think most of its tools would be useful generally speaking. Don’t get me wrong, I think there is a use, just I don’t think its the best. I’d argue in favor of the binocs, as the weapons aren’t always a good idea due to size to look out for things covertly. I’d much rather never risk detection by threats than having to point a weapon at things for the same effect, especially if you saw a potential friendly.

So you are just gonna stick out your hand for a shake at a potential friendly? Hell no, my weapon is going to be pointed at them the whole time until I’m damn sure they aren’t out to eat me. Besides, the scope is removable, and I’m not going to be sniping with a crossbow at any point, so that is just an added bonus with the weapon that eliminates the need for 'nocs.

I think the best choice is the bike, it might be noisy but you will almost never get stuck and use a lot less fuel. You won’t be a mobile base with it, but the key thing is navigation roads. So many vehicles on the roads from a crisis would be hard to get around or move them if you can’t offroad with a Hummer, the bike has better chances to get around. Oh, and if it does get stuck in a field, you could probably get it out. Boat though if you have an anchor (and a place to sail) would be the best option. Safest place around, zombies don`t swim. Anytime you want safety, go chill at sea and drop anchor.

I didn’t say it was fuel efficient, in fact, I addressed that, but I’m not going to be riding on a bike in a chaotic moment, possibly wreck due to the fact, and then die or risk serious injury because I have a shitty mode of safe transportation. Sure, wear gear and a helmet, blah blah blah. Thats just more shit you have to carry around. And its a Hummer, its purpose is all-terrain. I’m not going to be crusing down the freeway with my windows down and hair flowing in the wind. It will be the last place I’ll ever be. I’ll be off-road like the vehicle is capable of doing. There is also this great thing called common sense, too. If I’m driving, and its raining, I’m not going to be like “Oh look, its raining, I should probably park my car in that mudhole over there so I can be stuck in the morning”.

I forgot about removing the scope from the gun I admit. I still maintain bat loses to machete on grounds of less uses and that you wouldn’t be using it to make kills, you use it to disable. A zombie is rotten meat, and the chances of getting stuck aren’t that hot unless you get into bone, which you pretty much shouldn’t be. Far as the Hummer goes, I live in a redneck province. People think they can do things they can’t and get stuck in shit all the time with the meanest offroad stuff around. Eventually, you WILL get stuck. If you get your mobile base stuck, with possibly more than you can carry, you are in a worse situation especially if you don’t know the area well. My personal choices for two gear that weren’t on the list that I would grab immediately is a simple bicycle and a crowbar, and the motocross bike isn’t ideal, but I’d still take it. Agree to disagree, but yeah enough zombie banter for now.

As stated above, the machete is not for kills. Cut some tendons, disable, run away. Faster swings, more accurate than a bat. Bats are crushing force and you’ll have to hit pretty hard to crack a bone, rotten or not.

A bike can be fixed a hell of a lot more easily and can be figured out even if you have basic to none mechanic skill, at least in comparison to a full vehicle. You guys are both seriously underestimating the benefits of a small vehicle that can bob and weave between cars in a city and trees in a forest. These are zombies, depending on what kind (runners or shamblers) all the speed you need is faster than a normal human can run which isn’t exactly unmanageable. While its true you won’t bring everything with you with a bike, its much more useful and meant for raids for supplies and escapes, which a hummer isn’t nearly as good at. And if you are crashing or getting knocked off, you are totally doing it wrong and have more problems than zombies.

If you don’t see the importance is a 100% safe, defensible spot from zombies that you could calmly rest and relax like on a boat, you are pretty slow my friend. “What good is a boat if you run out of supplies?” I don’t know, sail back and scavenge and retreat to safety whenever you want? Talk about being a dumbfuck.
