Ramadan Mubarak!

Does fasting mean giving up something… because as far as food and water go, I don’t eat and drink until nighttime anyway… so what could I do, I want to join in regardless of whether I’m Muslim or not… but how? Give up something else that’s part of my lifestyle… video games?

you cant have sex for a whole month.

whilst i do feel like eating about 5 lahmacuns now right now, i think thats a very bold statement to make!

Dude, theres literally no chance that you don’t eat or drink ANYTHING all day long everyday…surely?

Bad habits in general are what you should be trying to give up (or at least avoid) whilst fasting. Smoking for instance. Also, behavioural changes like becoming more kinder, generous and charitable (not saying that you don’t do any of these things, just giving examples). That sort of thing.

Try and just be as pure as possible, the belief is that this is the one month of the year where the devil is imprisoned, and his whisperings cannot reach the believers. What I do is I don’t swear or use suggestively bad language, I don’t yell, I try and be as generous as possible to friends and family, I open up my wallet to donations and let go of my frugal thoughts, etc. I think you get the picture.

The best feelings you get from fasting are when you go to congregational prayers and when listening to the sermons, they are always very inspiring.

I would suggest going to your local mosque around 12pm-ish on Fridays and listening to the sermon before the prayer (Friday is the holiest and best day of the week for Muslims). You don’t have to be a Muslim to enjoy the sermon and receive some benefit from it.

Yeah, this also. When I was younger, Ramadan helped me break so many destructive habits, namely, smoking weed.

not eating and drinking is a way of to discipline your body. But beyond that, fasting is a way to discipline the soul.

Pakman and Raziel made it quite clear, thanks to them.

Lahmacun is the key to open the door. Behind that door there is the source

and yeah sure you can not eat, drink or let anything to get into your body such as drugs or medicine from your veins. (not all day long from sahur to iftar)

Why did you ask that?

Medication has gotten me into a bad habit of not eating or drinking… even after I stopped taking it(I’m back on it again btw, because it’s kinda necessary)…

Everytime I eat or drink I feel sick to my stomach, and I can only bother myself to eat something… at night:sad:

So I’ll give up cursing… for only a month…because I love to curse… frequently…

So before I start, fuck my life…

Which Qari’s do you guys like to listen to? My favorites are Shiekh Abdurrahman As-Sudais, and Saad Ghamdi, and Saad Nomani.

Currently my favorite is Saad Nomani. This guy is unbelievable, he can imitate any famous Shiekh, but his own voice is unbelievable.

happy eidul fitri muslim peeps . met your old folks already , hope fellow muslims in srk have a great family reunion  .

Why even bother? You aren’t getting enough calories and protein to make working out worthwhile. You’re just destroying yourself. This is not a custom for people who valued physique and physical strength. Now…if looking like Dhalsim is your goal, or if you are a chub-mo, go for it. If you’re buff, you’re hurting your gains.

If you’re married (which Islamicly speaking is the only way you can have sex) you can do it during the evening hours just like eating and drinking.

Late I’d Mubarak brethren.

yeah but im one of those undercovers. i dont actually do ramadan, but do get the benefits by coming home when its time to eat to reap the benefits. so for me it doesnt matter if you gotta be married or not.

also bayram mubarak peeps.

Makes me wonder how many of our SRK muslims have pre-marital sex. :wonder:

lol, muslims? dont you know this is the same rule for christians and jews as well. what i do know is that most males where im from dont do that rule, but a lot of females do. just the way it should be imo. who want to marrey a fucking hoe, only we can be the hoe’s, lol.

your personal life is your business but don’t say things about ramadan that aren’t true. ramadan doesn’t prevent you from having sex that month.

I know it’s the same for Christians and Jews. My point was that SRK’s muslims seem to be more serious about their religion than SRK’s Christians, but they’re all probably hypocrits.

Why assume the worst?

No ones free of sin or mistakes though. When you believe in a certain set of rules the point is to realize the mistake when you make it instead of justifying it. I wouldn’t call someone who slips up, even regularly, a hypocrite. We all have our vices. When you start saying “oh but… because so and so I think it’s ok” that’s when it starts getting iffy because even though your justifying it, the religion or ruleset you believe in doesn’t have justification for it.

dude theres different vallues to different things. we cant eat pig, since pig is the worst meat out there. thats good and i dont reat pig. we cant drink alchohol, a lot do. reason for not being able to drink is people becoming drunk and doing stupid shit (like brothers killing each other). so technically drinking 1 drink shouldnt be a problem. for me, even when im drunk im not a person that will cause trouble (me = happy drinker). so i dont do that rule, doesnt mean im automatically not a muslim.

add the fact theres as many muslim religions as theres christian religions. you got muslims that eat pig and get tattoos and all that shit. you got muslims that dont. its like protestants and katholics and such. personally i only uphold the rules that i find important, like not stealing and shit like that. but thats pretty much the same for any religion. thou shall not kill, ok seems logical, ill do that.

than you got the people who are really into religion, with kathos its the kind tha sends money to the church and goes to church evet\ry sunday or even more. with muslims its the kind that prays 5 times a day and such. im a believer to a dergee, not really a practicionar unless i was already doing it, like not eating pig and not stealing and such. most christians are the same. though most muslims are more into their religion than christians in general. it doesnt mean everybody lives like a prophet, even the pope doesnt live like jesuz. you know, raping kids and such. most religious people in power usually do tend to be corrupted individuals with too much money and power at their hands.
