Ragequitters : The Blacklist

This is what happens every time ragequits on me.

i think this is a good idea…a hall of shame of sorts

But its a good idea to get photo proof. If not we’re unable to, then we should also implement a strike system. If someone is found Disconnecting by 3 different users on this site, then you become officially blacklisted

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

…and?

How many times does the ragequitting blacklist idea need to be shot down before people get it?

SNAAAAKE wins this thread.

All the fucking time. Because people seem to want to tell the whole fucking world that they are so good someone dropped on them.

whats wrong with that?? XD

I think this thread is brilliant. It’s too bad we don’t have more contributors adding to the list of ragequitters. I’m going to offer my pics.

The sad thing about it is that these guys are not necessarily bad players. They’re all within the mid-4000 BP zone; except for the Zangief player who was above 5000 BP, beat me twice, then disconnected on me once I figured him out.

Shame.

Anyway, taking requests! CiscoRey on XBL.

Honestly, if this thread does nothing more, it discourages anyone who comes by it to not drop their matches. Common sense tells us that we can’t list them all. And I agree, blacklisting can always be a bit sketchy; but if you can provide a pic to prove what is an otherwise obvious drop, then why not?

I think the truth of the matter is, a lot of these people wouldn’t drop their matches if they knew their antics could be exploited. That’s an idea most of them never stop to consider.

I just don’t understand the whole you-can’t-do-anything-about-it approach to threads like this one. Obviously, he is doing something about it–however futile you believe it to be. It’s more than what some other people care to do.

Besides, it seems like quite a few people have acknowledged the idea as thoughtful/entertaining.

But Rhianna didn’t drop on Chris Brown…

Couldn’t find the plug in time before “K.O.” appeared in front of her face, so she took the loss and kept going.

I need to add you btw…

Oh yea…this idea is shit.

Jarhead S0ldier always drops on me, try to avoid him. He plays just about every day too.
Browniel has dropped on me also.

Here’s the problem: this thread isn’t discouraging anyone who drops from a losing match. They don’t give a shit. What are you going to do? Look at every person you play, load up this thread, scour it, and if they’re on it drop yourself? Suppose that individual is mistakingly on this thread AND is an SRKer, comes here, and posts “evidence” of YOU dropping a match?

And “evidence” is in quotes for a reason. Even if somebody tends to quit near the end of a losing match, even if in all likelihood that person is a so-called ragequitter, it still isn’t concrete evidence. They could have bizarre ISP/router/modem/switch/console ethernet port troubles, or constant RL obligations, or whatever. Or maybe they are just quitting because they don’t want to lose useless BP/TrueSkill rank/whatever. But your evidence is, at best, inconclusive.

This activity is not thoughtful, nor entertaining. It is, at best, a waste of time, and, at worst, a potentially harmful precedent.

I am gonna ragequit on all you bitchs…cant stop…WONT STOP! does p diddy dance

Apparently many more times?
**
The blacklist is just not a working idea. I’m not saying its a bad idea, but there are too many flaws to implement it in a fair way.**

This thread exists for two reasons:

 1. A lot of players find quitters very irritating, and not much fun to play against; often, the kind of person who quits when he’s losing is the same kind of person who talks shit and throws insults over the mic, and is generally a dickwad. Some of the players (like Ciscorey here) who want to avoid said dickwads would like to have a resource for knowing which players are problem cases, so that when you sit down to play the game, the chances of your playing experience being diminished in some way are cut to a minimum.

 2. There are a lot of ragequit pics that are just inherently funny.

There’s a ton of threads on here full of people whingeing about quitters, and I haven’t seen one single thread so far where someone makes some effort - no matter how small or apparently stupid and insignificant - to improve the situation in whatever way we, as a community, can. It’s not some kind of righteous crusade against nerd rage. It’s not some peurile opportunity to say “hey, look how good I am, people quit because I beat them so bad” - that never once crossed my mind.

I’m not under some foolish, misguided impression that quitters will stop quitting if they see their name on a list (although I do believe it’s at least a small deterrent - we all know people are more willing to act like dicks when they’re doing it anonymously). It’s just for SOME people who want to avoid playing with quitters, which is no fun. SOME people will find it useful, and SOME people don’t, and that’s fine. Nobody’s being forced to do anything they don’t want to do. It’s just supposed to be a handy resource so that whoever wants to be informed about this stuff can be.

If you think it’s useless and dumb, that’s fine too. You don’t have to use it, or pay any attention to its existence whatsoever. We have established that there are users on this forum who find it useful and entertaining. Even if they’re in a minority, that’s who it’s for. I don’t see how it’s a “harmful precedent” in any way - if people don’t care who’s on the list, or whether or not they themselves are on it, and it has no power to punish anybody in any way, how can anyone be harmed by it? Besides, if it was really that bad, the mods could come and shut it down any time.

It’s not a punishment system. It’s just a reference point for people who want to avoid quitters. I feel like I need to keep restating that to make it clear. It’s just some effort, however small, to help the community run smoother for people who appreciate a fair game played in a sportsmanlike way.

EDIT: As far as the whole “misleading / false evidence” issue goes, I think we can safely say that in the vast majority of cases, it’s extremely obvious who the intentional quitters are, and who is just having connection troubles. I was playing against some guy the other day who disconnected when he already had one round up on me. Obviously, that was a connection issue. There’s no reason why I would post that here. If somebody disconnects during the final round when they’re one hit away from death, I think we can agree that 9 times out of 10, that’s a ragequitter right there. Obviously there will be exceptions, and those can be addressed if and when they arise. We can discuss it like civilised human beings instead of just flaming each other pointlessly. It’s not that big a deal.

I got a better Idea. How about we just make a list of people that suck?

I’ll start it.

1.Bigbadboogie

Feel free to add to it. Also make it a point to post pics of 10-0 scores with a little story to go along with it to make you look mad nice.

Just an example:

Man I played this bigbadboogie guy and dude he fucking SUCKS.

**Like someone said earlier, people just wanna show that they can beat someone bad enough to make them pull the plug. Mike Ross did it in his own thread, then of course it’s typical for SRK to take some insignificant shit like this and run it into the ground.

I openly admit though, I come to these threads to see the pictures people post. Some of them are hilarious and seem like authentic ragequits. But yeah, it ain’t gonna solve anything.**

another vote for BigBadVagina.

that guy sucks ass.

I can’t exactly say that I’m sure I know where you’re going with the hypothetical talk. Evidence of me dropping a match?Huh? If any such evidence existed, I’d very much like to see it.

And I disagree about the no one cares rebuttal. You may not care, a few other people may not care, but I assure you… someone does.

Unfortunately, the 3 individuals who are subjects of the images above were all sent messages regarding early quit/possible connection issues. These three in particular went the extra mile of confirming what they do by replying with complete obnoxious bullshit.

I assure you, if I were to make a note of every possible ragequitter there’d be
more images to pass around. The benefit of doubt is the least I’ll give you.

At best, this opinion your offering is subjective.
