Aw man I love this blog! I haven’t been online yet but I’ve heard the stories. The hatemail has got me in tears from laughing so hard. I don’t see the point in ragequits though… I haven’t played SF in a while and I accept that I’ve atrophied back to the realm of scrubage, but quiting just because I suck? I could have sworn both Sony and Microsoft’s terms of service don’t allow 2-year olds on line…

Believe or not folks, some jerks on SFIV are “lag switching”. If you don’t have any idea what that is or have never played Gears Of War 2. Please google it and look it up.

The first time he did it, I politely called him on “convenient lag”. He plays a HORRIBLE Guile and has 1456 GP already I gave him “GG” regardless. I continue playing later on into the night and BOOM, who do I see?

I played him again, and every time I gained an advantage in the game or went after a corner trap the connection would freeze… stutter… I’d whiff a move and he’d punish. He also punches the switch when he goes in for throws so your timing for teching is thrown off. If it’s not one thing it’s something else with cheaters. Please keep the rest of the community aware.
Somebody will eventually bump into him again. Hopefully they will have a capture card as “lag” doesn’t show up in the system record matches. Take care guys.
I had a Ken quit on me, didn’t get a picture because I didn’t expect someone to quit after losing the first round and I always bash A after a round finishes to get things underway asap.
I nearly him with Sakura, he only dealt a few chip hits to me. I don’t think it went the way he wanted because he taunted me as soon as the round started and kept trying to srk and helicopter kick me, which I kept blocking, throwing and changing into tatsu combos or w/e. Either way, it was an obvious ragequit.

I never heard of the term lag switching. I was hoping something like this was gone after modems. back on xband, youd pick up another phone line and blow into it. Anyways, this might explain why I fought this crappy ass Blanka last night but still lost. Nothing but rolls and lightning but everytime he approached, it would be fine, id block to counter, then lag fest. once hed get away, it was smooth again.
Or hed roll in and id hit lariat, and gief wouldnt even do that, just still stay blocking. nothing would come out. Im kool with understanding delays in my buton presses, but to totally ignore them? Same thing with tryin to tech hit throws. I know its comin and i hit the throw, nothing, i stand there and go sailing.

Lag switching is very lame, and I’ve had it happen a couple times. I personally don’t feel any remorse quitting out on a cheater, even in a Player Match, they aren’t even worth my time.
Its pretty easy to tell when its happening too, you beat the snot out of a guy, hes in a bad situation, and all of the sudden the game slows down to a chug. Then he hits you with something strong, and the lag goes away. Then, this happens again when you start whooping him.

I’ve experienced this a few number of times playing last night. This usually happens when I am in control of the match (or of course winning). All of a sudden lag will kick in and I’m thinking great why does lag have to kick in now! hehe. I play it out as best as I can only to end up losing the lead then the game as a result.
I thought it was their connection. Oh well what can you do, I guess people are willing to go to extremes just to win.
Seriously, I think ranks, points, medals or whatever you want to call it is a bad thing for online games. It just turns people evil :lovin:

*Lag Switching/Stand By’ing is the act of interrupting the connection between the Router & Cable Modem view a “switch” or “button” to forcefully create “Lag”. People use this technique in Gears Of War 2 frequent but had showed its ugly face in SF IV.
People will use it when they are getting corner trapped, to stop you from FADC fire balls, to throw you with out getting teched and to interrupt your combo timing.*
DStroyer4 on Xbox Live is especially noticeable because for the most part he is NOT good. His defense is bad and has limited offense with his Guile. It’s a person in most cases most of us would be routinely. It shows you how foul this trend is. Beware of these guys as A LOT of them are padding their GP.
I’ve had three lag switchers in a row on CE tournament matches. I was whooping these guys and all of a sudden the game started lagging and screen started freezing everytime I was about to win, and then magically dissapeared once they get out of the situation due to the lag.
Online is a breeding ground full of these people. What an F’ng joke they are.

i hate lag switchers so much…I was rocking a Flo-Chart ken with Honda’s oicho Throws…and just convieniently lagged after 4 oicho throws in a row…happened over n over…sigh

The final time I got a message saying “due to the match being incomplete you must start over” or some BS like that. Between this and the lagswitching… :annoy::annoy::annoy::annoy:

I’ve decided 3 was appropriate as well. It’s possible people with 1% may have actually needed to go or randomly had someone disconnect on them.
