@Devon, a couple posts up: are chip damage wins seen as unsporting? if you know chip damage will kill them then why not do a move that will kill them?

What always puzzles me about these people who say ‘chip damage kills are cheap’, is that say take this scenario:
You get hit by a fierce, and then chipped to death by a hadouken.
If it’d be reverse: You block a hadouken, get chipdamage, and THEN get hit by a Fierce you die, because you took that chip damage.
So either way, it was the damage of the chip damage that eventually was the cause of your demise. What’s the difference whether you take the chip damage at the beginning or at the end of the match? It kills you either way.
actually i thought the C when you would win meant cheap for the longest time when i was little. I didnt know back then it meant chip.
Pretty sure it still means cheese like from the alpha series.
But how is wining by chip any cheaper then hugging db with zero offense with no life?
This arguement is very old,but the fact remains if i hammered you so hard your in chip country and i am in no danger,hanging on and letting me win by time out makes it better some how?
well i was like 7 at the time so the thing i thought it meant was cheap because they were blocking. i had no idea what chip meant…later i found out what chip was.
It’s likely the cheese and “c” icons were Capcom having a bit of a laugh with it’s player-base isn’t it. Just a wink and a smile to us because somewhere down the line we’d have probably heard all the “that move is cheesy” stuff.
Laughing along with us at the sort of mentality if you will.
It’s like the “throwing is cheap” and “playing to win” achievements in later titles, or Dan’s win quote against Akuma :arazz:

I’m with most other people. I have no problems with chip damage.
The safest move, fireball, can be countered with almost every character with no health now anyway (some requires ex or ultra, but still).
If you get knocked down to zero health, guess who’s fault it was in the first place? You only deserve to win in that situation if you out play your opponent that much.
I know there’s a zero health vs zero health situation, maybe that’s why some characters are ranked higher I guess.
And by the way, I don’t think there’s much difference in macro and turbo in this game.
If you macro is legit (which I don’t think it is), then turbo is fine.
Macro is in the game, turbo is in the controller. One is distinctly outside assistance.
I meant macro as using one of those “trainers”. Press a button and a series of combo comes out.
Speaking of which, I’m glad they changed DeeJay’s machine gun upper command. It’s impossible to pull that thing out with four hits in SSF2T without turbo.

you know i remember when me and my friends played ts , once in a while we d start doing matches where we exchanged our mains , just for fun , well when i played Ryu i would usually get denjin and try setting it up in the most annoying ways.
Well sometimes it happened that they got stunned before getting hit by denjin and had a sliver of life left …so i charged up denjin and used to yell " You can’t lose this one!!" at them while charging , knowing full well they were dead.
Same thing in 2X or IV when i know i ll be chipping them , its just fun.:encore:
Obviously i m not going to say this to strangers, mainly because i don’t want my arms ripped off.
All in all i think things like these make the game 100% more fun and competitive , i don’t mind when they do the same thing to me , it means i was an ass to let myself get beat up so bad or that i m simply worse than the person i m playing .
It would actually make me mad if somebody did NOT try and chip me, i would feel like he s not going all out on me , meaning i suck THAT bad.
Ah cool, yeah turbo is only a hair short of that nonsense.
