It’s finally good to get this one in the bag. Shawty’s a best. Once I get my Ragna game down flat then I may come back to her.

What’s the general strategy when playing Rachel. Also need to know what pokes are good to use for Rachel. A lot of my things get stuffed. Usually I’m either using 6B, or spamming A. Also, How do I use the pumpkin properly?

6A/6B are your better pokes. J.B is also good, as is J.C for ppl who are above you.

You probably won’t do too much poking w/ her since her normals have such poor range.

Her air-to-ground game is meh, avoid that situation if possible.

General pumpkin use:

  1. Helps you approach your opponent safely (summon -> dash 6d)

  2. Covers you while setting rods/frog (ALWAYS summon a pumpkin before you summon a rod/frog, esp if airborne)

  3. Okizeme (knock opponent down -> summon, throw it at him -> pressure)

Okay I don’t know if im the only one but i seem to have the hardest time fighting Jin and Noel.

Mainly because both my pokes are less range than both of their attacks, as well as i can’t seem to counter their attacks very well. I’ve been improving greatly against fighting noels but Jin which so happens to be the most common played character always woops my ass.

Even the scrubiest of scrub that just spams the ice slide some how beats me.
Any help and suggestions would be awesome.

My PS3 copy has not arrived yet (should arrive tomorrow… grumble), but I’m down for some games. My tags are in my profile, and remind me to hate you later for wanting to do Rachel mirrors.

I second the notion that B, B, C+D, C, :qcf:+ B , :d::d:+ A, BnB combo has improved my game slightly (when I can pull it off :P)

I actually never find myself doing that combo, i always go for frogs, just have to learn the character specific ones but they’re overall pretty easy imo

I gotta use frogs more…this is true…maybe thats why im getting spanked, going for the long combo instead of the core mechanic :, but im getting that combo off more often!

I like to throw frogs behind my opponent to see if they’ll block them, when they do use D to get in on them and score a free tick throw, or mix it up with a low or overhead.

ok I need SERIOUS help with Rachel… I don’t know but I seem to have lots of problems setting up any of her combos in a real match… I’d practice it for hours in training, and get everything down no problem. When it comes to a real match, I have big trouble getting anything in cleanly and if I do, for some reason I choke when it comes to the air combos…

Anyone know a good way to set all this stuff up, especially against people who just rush down all day?

I’ve been trying to block and then when I have the opportunity use :r:B to counter hit them, that stuns them long enough to do a combo, but doing even that is hard.

Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated…

here are a couple matches of low level online play to show which combos are easier to mash out

like nothing special just simple combos u can mash out

also if you’re having trouble going from B to C+D then I just do B then neutral C then slide into D really fast. And if I’m doing B into foward C+D, I do B, hit forward+C then slide to D while still holding forward.

learning rachel is hard…everything is so new (IMO). the notation, the speed of the game…or at least her speed, her range, etc. i have to remember to use frogs as well…i’m concentrating too much on landing combos i just learned in training mode and ish…
then i forget the other stuff i’m supposed to do.

Albedo, maybe try playing against computers first.

Playing Ranked Matches online against other players has some meaning to it. So get used to doing what you want to be doing against other players against the computers.

The stress to pull it off is still there, but it matters a whole lot less if you don’t.

I guess I’m weird because I don’t think shes that hard to play.

If you’re trying to find opening to get into combos dont bother waiting for a 6b to hit just mix it up with wind rushdown.

Stuff I use is dash in 2a 5b jump cancel immediately 3d+c 5b jump cancel 2c. thats two quick overheads in a row which i find hits people all the time, and if they get hit by any of it the rest keeps comboing (easier on crouching opponents and not tager). or you could skip the 2c part and just jump cancel wind down 2a for a quick low hit. she has a lot of options for rushing down you just gotta get creative with your wind.

why does her 3C hit Arakune 3 times automatically and not Noel?

Josh, you need to start hitting me up more so I can learn to rape like you do. The mix-ups at Bernie McFly’s crib were hella nasty.

  1. You mean 2b, 2a doesn’t hit low :stuck_out_tongue:

  2. You don’t have to land to do another j.2c, its jump cancellable. So you can just to 5b j.3dc dj.2c for dbl overhead. And ofc it combos as usual so…

You can also usually do 6B after the 5B into C+D. That gives you plenty of time to buffer it in.
