Are we gonna keep posting here or shall we go back to the general Mika discussion thread ?
This is a cool stun sequence that i was kinda working on, i think it can be viable in a real match but i will try to land it.

Well, Mika was probably the most changed char from s1 to s2. I think it’s more coherent with we use specific threads to deal with her changes. I’m ok if we gonna concentrate our focus on that old thread, but it’d be worthy if we point out stuff which are unfailingly belonged to s2. I suppose some new players may get confused with old combos/resets/mixups reported there.
Fighting a proper Guile feels impossible sometimes but it feels like most Guiles stick to really repetitive habits. I’ve been able to get some clean wins against Guiles because they tend to 90% do a Flash Kick after a trade in the air or go for grabs when you block at neutral.
It makes sense R Mika has a problem with crossing a zone, but man, trying to chase Guile down is the real priority and I don’t got a proper idea of how to go about that.
I’m not a fan of my Cr. HK having such a long window of punishment on whiff, though. Really feels like even though I’m visually back in my guard animation, I still get dashed in and punished proper. Its insane. Its nowhere near as bad as doing Cr. HP from afar where you eat a combo, but its visually infuriating.
I stuck with her. It feels like she’s not as impossible to play with as I thought. She’s certainly weaker but you’re not going to get stuck in the ladder trying to improve, its just working to earn a win.
I have never posted here before so please be patient with me, I am having the absolute worst trouble with the Laura match up I watched the RiseUp video on it and looked at the frame data but I still tense up whenever I play against her. I know you are not suppose to be super relax in this game but I am struggling HARD any help would be great.
edit: I have been in been in between Gold and Ultra Silver for months and have not improved I started playing different characters but I still end up going back to Mika because I know her buttons if that makes sense. Also in this season I am having trouble with characters that have good ranged normal.
The shittiest thing about cr.HK is that you can be thrown out of it at almost anypoint, it is disgusting. I got thrown out of it numerous time while Mika was SLIDING. Not to mention yeah being very whiff punishable. I think it sucks that Mika is basically one of the few characters who can’t whiff punish or block punish sweeps with her sweep. That really sucks.
I also agree that Guile is a bitch of a matchup. Daigo played very passively and didn’t run-away as much as he could have done, the matchup is really hard IMO, possibly her worst.
First of all, Welcome to SRK and welcome to the Mika forum.
I think it is a general opinion that Laura is a top tier character now and is pretty much better than Mika overall. The issue with the match is that Laura can control the neutral better, she does more damage, have higher HP and her vortex can be done anywhere in the screen. Couple that with the fact that Mika got very weak defensive option and yeah, it is a bad matchup now. I think it used to be even or slightly in Mika’s favor but it is most likely bad now.
You need to carry her to the corner somehow and mix her up to death there. You can’t rely on Dropkick here because her cr.MK will low profile it so be careful. She has a very strong anti-air game to shut down your jumpins as well. Just play your best and try not to run into any of her buttons because anything will lead to LP bolt and you are in the vortex. Also i would recommend using your V-reversal on her quite often.
Laura is really better. Using Mika is now an uphill battle. She is having good moves, but they all have recovery or brutal startup times. She is having no medium hit frame trap on block and she is all mixups, no combos, the worst v-skill and no wakeup options. Her footsies sux and she doesn’t have AA options except the slow Wingless Airplane startup (which trade all the time) and her slow st.hp. cr.mp is easy to zone and crossup so it’s unfortunately not great, however you get a good reset.
On minus moves on block, you can only command grab or do the st.lk+st.mp flying peach combo. You can do this for anyone on range like Cammy and Laura.
For Laura it means her claps and her charges on block.
The flying peach ex recovery is a forgery! Many other characters are having advantages on ex moves on hit… but, of course, Mika is too dangerous for having that reset.
All in all, I am still waiting for the new characters to drop her. She is honestly horrible. It’s really hard to jump on characters because her hurtboxes are unfair and get punished over jab AA.
If the new characters sux, I will just drop the game and leave it to all the shotos of this world who love to play the same character over and over again.
I swear 2lp is still 3 frames even if they listed it as 4 in the original patch notes pdf (it /was/ a little unclear and there was occasional errors.) I have had little problem using it as a 3f and have not seen Fuudo or Du have a problem with using it that way, but maybe I am just seeing things? Anyone else have a similar experience?
Where do you guys go to play with people, there is not FGC in NC and I just wanna practice against a Laura player. I have beaten Laura’s but I feel like I “guessed” I know that word is taboo if I actually want to get better, but in season 1 I made it to super gold with only playing like 10-15 Laura’s total. My match up knowledge is severely lacking (It was like my Vega match-up in Season 1)
I started playing Laura(figure out wtf I’m doing) but I’m literally just going nuts.
@SkinkerMcPinkerton Where in NC are you located? There are a few fgc locations in the state of North Carolina. Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh to name a few.
Now that a new balance patch gonna be implemented next month, what are you thoughts about it? Do you guys think they gonna nerf Mika overall again, or is it time to some buffs?
Xian would be the best person at making Fang look broken since characters like Fang fit his style the most.
Still makes him look mid tier at best. Mika is still clearly a better character than Fang although yes, Fuudo with his skill inherently would do well with Fang.
That’s really what’s most fun about watching Fuudo’s Mika. He is known for mainly playing mid ranged poking characters like Fei Long, then added his strong fundamentals to a character that’s much more momentum and set play based. Which is really strong because you can see his patience game up until he tags with a counter hit or whiff punishes you and then you start going for a ride. Then sometimes he just dashes up to you and brimstones you and you’re in the corner.
Mago made the switch to Karin as she’s basically the closest there is to Fei in this game (orochi is like a one hit rekka, v trigger rekkas and very mid ranged based). Fuudo decided to do something different for fun and it’s still carrying him well into Season 2.
