R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

The game is still going through it’s development stages so all the changes are to be expected.

Happy as hell to have Karin back! While R. Mika is the main…
Karin will be my other sub!! Oh… the party is getting intense… actually, it hasn’t even started yet and I’m already feeling great!
Now we get down to business!

Spoiler
  • In the video above… between R. Mika and Karin, the players seem to be testing things out which is generally a good idea at this point, especially considering that there is a lot of stuff going on at once. It is good to take time and dissect subjects on games like this.
    … Also… 3:42 LELELELELELELELELEL… (if that shit happened in a real match…)
Minor note. R. Mika looks really hot when she continues doing her V-Skill. :]

  • When R. Mika is conducting her V-Skill and if you hit the opponent with the mic, she can get a combo after it, thanks to the frame advantage it offers on hit. You can probably use the V-Skill as a pseudo-counter attack. It might also be wise to watch out for multi-hit moves when trying to take advantage of V-Skill, though this is kind of self-explanatory.

  • To an extent, players may want to start using Shooting Peach (preferably the light punch version) to “chase” opponents while they are back dashing or trying to get away. Keep st.MK (MK~forward), st.HK, cr.HK, cr.HP, and Wingless Airplane in mind because all of those moves may cause R. Mika to travel forward a short distance. You may also whiff them but if you should whiff them, you could possibly take advantage of the short recovery frames… you could bait something out from the opponent at the mid range.
(For example, if R. Mika where fighting against a Ryu and if R. Mika whiffed something like… st.LP or light punch Shooting Peach and if Ryu reacts by doing a Tatsu, cr.HK or an SRK, R. Mika would theoretically be the one who is safe. She’d get a free punish. I am pretty sure that the majority of people on this forum understood this but the point I just want to make is that R. Mika has a number of ways of baiting moves out while remaining relatively safe. That is, if the player wants to play R. Mika a bit more defensively, which can be easily advocated, especially with how her V-Trigger currently works.

To be continued… Need more footage… need Beta with R. Mika in it…

Some guy on DeviantArt made a outfit comparison for all the people who think she hasn’t changed much:

I think her new outfit is waaaaay better than before.

Even R. Mika’s Taunt is cute…

Has it been known how exactly does her V-Trigger work ? I mean how do you delay it and such ? Do you just keep holding HP+ HK ? I was thinking this would be suboptimal since we lose the amazing st.HK in that scenario. I would also like to know if any of the Nadeshiko attacks are overheads.

I was wondering because lets say that Mika has both super and V-trigger full. You could do something like V-trigger then do cr.LK (low) , (Overhead Nadeshiko), into a combo of some sorts. If it is the version that keep them grounded ( Where Nadeshiko falls from straight above), maybe you could do s.MP , st.Hp x Super.

Something I’ve been wondering. Does she only get 1 Nadeshiko call per V-trigger activation? In all the videos I’ve seen, they activate, do one Nadeshiko call and then never again. For some reason why I always thought she got at least two.

Yes. It is 1 attack per activation.

Hmm I guess it would-be kinda busted if she could perform marvel esque assist for an extended period of time.

According to what Combofiend has told us, there are two timings: Tap HPHK for instantaneous, hold HPHK for delayed.

There is a visual cue from R.Mika for each of these timings, both for the player and the opponent. If the player taps for the instantaneous attack, R.Mika will only point to the sky with one hand. If the player holds until activation, R.Mika will point to the sky with both hands.

You do not have to continue to hold HPHK after the V-Trig activation when R.Mika points both of her hands up if you’re going for the delayed timing.

Neutral V-Trigger (When Nadeshiko comes straight down) seems like it doesn’t overhead, and it doesn’t send the opponent into a juggle state on hit if the opponent wasn’t already knocked down. The neutral V-Trigger option seems to be most useful for OTGing opponents that are already knocked down for combo extensions.

The Back and Forward V-Trigger options (when Nadeshiko comes from the front or the back) both send the opponent into a spinning juggle state on hit. What the juggle potentials are for these two though would need extensive lab time to figure out.

We may have missed a few things… so I am going to repost the WSO R. Mika and Rashid game play presentation videos in order.

Now there is a third video. But, the third video consists mostly of Rashid’s game play.

First Video:
At 23:52 - Rainbow Mika’s game play showcase starts right here.

  • When the player uses f+HP to launch the opponent, they may need to be mindful of what moves that they follow up with, because there is a somewhat small window to combo when trying to do so from the mid screen. It’s very easy to follow up with juggles and combo finishers in the corner.

  • 27:15 - Blocked DP reversals… equals vulnerability to counter hits. R. Mika’s damage output is high as it is when the damage is maximized.
27:47… On counter hit, f+HP seems to launch the opponent higher and it is easier to follow up with even a regular Wingless Airplane.

  • LP Shooting Peach appears to be the safest version to use. If you space the Shooting Peach (of any button, I suppose) correctly, she can be relatively safe on block. There is also not that much whiff recovery. A lot of R. Mika’s normals and her special moves cause her to move in a certain way where it is generally useful, even if the player may not be hitting anything.

  • 29:31 - OUCH… O_o

  • 29:53 - The safety of st.HK is tested. It seems like even the uncharged version is safe on block, though it is hella minus.
Both EX special move command grab have no invincibility… strange.

  • WAIT A MINUTE. 32:50… Oh! So even if she takes a hit, the mic throw is NOT automatic. She can still hang on to the mic…

@Neclord
Here is a slight update on the combos we have so far! Please, post the following combos within the OP when you get the chance.

Crush Counter st.HK (against mid air opponents), qcf+P (Shooting Peach)

Crush Counter st. HK (once again, mid air opponents), qcf+P (Shooting Peach)

Nadeshiko V-Trigger offers very nice combo extensions, zoning, mix up and even defensive options, offering quite a bit of versatility.

Got to play R Mika yesterday at Dreamhack London. To answer someones question, yeah you have to hold down the vtrigger to delay it.

Also I heard that kara throws were removed from the game? Not sure if they are actually removed in the Rashid build but Mika has a kara throw with F+MK

I envy you so much right now. I am craving for some SF5. I wonder how good the range on that would be ? I also noticed that her cr.HP ( The roll like attack ) seems to move her forward so maybe there is a possibility there for a good Kara throw.

@Great_Dark_Hero Nice breakdown. Is St.Lk ~ St.MP just a link or is it a target combo ?

Edit : NVM , just looked at the moveslist and it is a TC.

The range of the kara throw isn’t huge, it’s a very small step forward. Didn’t try it with the other moves. She seems to have 3 really good anti airs for like different ranges. Her anti air throw, cmp and s.hp. She also has good pressure/mix up potential in the corner off her f+MP wall bounce combo.

I wish she had all of the new outfit except still with the heart nipples

Hey here’s a crazy thought. R.Mika could potentially be the most devastating stun character in Street Fighter V. The way I see it. Most characters who cause a stun state during a combo. The damage they do during stun is still scaled so they don’t benefit off it that much. But with Mika’s V skill. If she causes a stun state during a combo. Instead of having to settle for piss poor ( albeit free ) damage. She can just use her v-skill and beef up her throws. So that next time she hits she’s likely gonna end the match. Where as other characters would’ve had to settle for the weak damage.

Also how practical would this be? If you see you have your foe close to stun and you have V Trigger active. Go for her V-Skill. And should the opponent attempt to attack, call in her assist partner. In theory you should be able to absorb the first hit, while her buddy hits them and puts them in the stun state. So now you’ve already got a head start on her V-Skill and the opponent just got stunned. Giving you even more time to build it up. Or just use what you’ve build to get some big damage while they’re stunned.

@ Great_Dark_Hero
Done!

Yeah, that would be neat.

The whole thong outfit is fun but just in front her top looks kinda dumb, like her breasts are fleshed over colors. On her select screen her boobs just change colors from flesh to white to blue you know.

I don’t mind her showing lots of flesh (I like her thong) but her select screen looks kinda crappy. Like her boobs just change colors from flesh to white to blue, instead of how clothes usually work. I mean if I wear a t shirt you can see my arms and then there’s a change not just in color but in layers right?

They probably won’t change that but I wish they would. Her select screen looks wonky atm.

Maybe the hearts are too immature for her now?

No matter where I see her, Mika keeps stealing every scene that she gets in. Her gameplay is astonishing!
