R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

Her AA grab actually AA’d without ex and when used late during Ryu’s jump-in in the end of the first round.
Combofiend will get her nerfed at this rate, she looks too awesome.

Her win quote against Chun (she says something like “you pros are a cut above” I think) implies she might be aiming for more success.

I don’t think they will, at least not the s.HK that seems so dominant right now.

As far as I can tell, R.Mika’s s.HK has the slowest start up for a Crush Counter in the game so far. There’s so much wind up time on that sucker it makes sense that it’s so good once it finally gets off. What I don’t see people doing is DPing that s.HK on reaction. Watch her bend down for the s.HK wind up, buffer in a DP, release that shit when she releases hers, beat it clean. Make her afraid to use that button. If you’re gonna keep throwing cr.MK and Fireballs at her, you deserve to get kicked in the face into a full combo.

Both R.Mika’s s.MK and s.HK are unique, different, and force the opponent to approach her in a way that’s much different than most people’s “buffer cr.MK into special and hope for CH” style of footsies. It’s ingenious. You have more tools than cr.MK, use them to beat her. The entire point of SFV’s normals is to make it feel like each button has a purpose and a use. Stop mashing jabs and cr.MK.

It won’t get nerfed, people just need to learn the match up.

Ah… so does st.MK links into st.LP for a combo. I like this as well.

That last round was impressive. Nice combo at the end.

St.MK seems to be really good to condition the opponent, then hit them with st.HK or mix it up with command grabs.
In round 1, between 0:40 and 0:49, you can really see how much more dmg her command throw does because of the v-skill.

But I couldn’t see a visual effect for the dmg buff. She used it and absorbed a fireball, then threw the mic away. So I guess the first dmg increase is applied immediately after she uses the v-trigger.

So it looks like R. Mika has taken some of the most notable wrestling moves and put them in her arsenal. She’s got the stone cold stunner, the tornado spin throw, and a bunch of other cool wrestling grapple and attack moves.

Is there a particular move though you wish she had?

I don’t know much of wrestling, but I do remember Lex Luger’s torture rack. That is one of my favorite wrestling moves. So what’s yours?

Only on Counter Hit it seems. I’m not sure how significant this is though, since it doesn’t look like her s.LP or c.LP lead into anything damage-wise (I’ve only seen s.LP and c.LP combo into LP Shooting Peach on counter hit but I might be wrong), you could probably throw in a tick setup somewhere but that’s about it.

This is probably common knowledge but I haven’t seen people talk of it much, her s.HK only has the cool properties when it’s fully charged. I’ve seen other players use without charging and while the startup is faster, it doesn’t low profile as well, doesn’t travel as far and doesn’t even combo on hit. I’m guessing it has maybe 3 levels but that’s only speculation.

And after watching some of those Khaos Gaming vids. It seems Nadeshiko has no hurtbox whatsoever. A Mika player used her V-Trigger against a Ken player, he reacted to the drop kick with EX DP, it goes straight through Nadeshiko and hits Mika. Could be good for baiting invincible reversals in any case.

one thing that I find annoying: when she comes to the fight and her assists gives her a jump boost, I fell the animation is quite…dull. I don’T feel the weight RMika’s body that her assists throws in the air. Hope they fix that

0:43 - Damage buff on the throw is hella noticable. Imagine if she spoke a bit longer… I’d also like to know if there are any secondary methods of getting the damage buffs off of the V-Skill.
0:50 - The timing of the Wingless Airplane was rather late! So perhaps it really is a decent special move anti-air when used carefully…
1:20 - We’ll keep in mind that players can combo into R. Mika’s CA. Very nice.

This may have been mentioned before but her V-Skill also functions as a mechanic to get the opponent to want to approach you head on. It’s a direct punish for people running away, a major issue most grapplers usually have to deal with (unless you’re T.Hawk, then you use your gun).

Go ahead and run away, just gonna talk mad shit about you over here, then the next time I grab you it’ll hurt that much more.

The V-Skill punishes not only fireballs, but cowards as well (sometimes the two are interchangeable).

Yeah, pretty much an option to discourage zoning like Birdie’s V-skill. I wonder if this is going to be a trend among grapplers.

    (Minor note: … I really love how you can actually hear that “slapping” sound when she smacks her own ass… <3)

  • cr. LK can combo into itself… (I didn’t think it would based on it’s animation but it’s deceiving. She will be able to link into something like st.MP after cr.LK. Use cr.LK for the low hit confirm).

  • Upon whiffing a command grab… if the opponent is neutral jumping (or is cornered), using cr.MP would be very wise (although, this point was already made clear in the first few game play videos… use this as a reminder).

I think i might have seen her CA comboed into from a St.MP as well. I wonder does anyone know if you can cancel her charged st. HK in any ways. I was thinking about how good this move was earlier today but i am afraid that getting counterhitted is very going to happen a lot when trying to use it.

In that combofiend match, her potential v-skill build is insane. She gains bar starting the speech, a bit for holding it, gains bar as if she had been hit from the armor absorb and then some more if the projectile hits. He built a full bar in that few seconds.

The command grab before hand also seems perfect to set up the v-skill, the ryu player neutral teched and he had absolutely no way to punish that, specially with the armor. Maybe super would do it.

They’ve removed linking mediums from lights in the later builds. She’ll probably get c.lk into s.lp but nothing else.

It’s not cancellable and if you mean like a feint or dash cancel then nope, gotta commit. Could opt for the non-charged version which starts up faster, if you’re getting poked out of it I guess.
