Stunning. Thanks for the dirt.
Really wonder which buffs/nerfs she will get.
With PSX over, here is a list of the changes that were reported:
- [BUFF] cr.MP hitbox increased (preventing jump-ins that would otherwise cross-up)
- [BUFF] cr.HK startup reduced
- [BUFF] HK Wingless Airplane startup reduced
- [NERF] Dream Driver (crouch throw) advantage significantly reduced (gets a meaty st.HK in the corner)
- [BUFF] Lady Mika (f.HP) is special cancellable
- [NERF] Command grab recovery changed to 70f (rumored)
So VT2 has two modes? if instant activation it sounds like Nadesiko throws the chair like a projectile? on long press, Nadesiko runs in with a chair from the other end of the screen and does the combo we see. And itâs a 3 bar V-trigger? does mika get to use it twice per activation?
uhh looked at pavacadoâs twitter, cr MP now can be V-trigger cancellable?
Aside from the universal command grab nerf the changes doesnât sound too bad for her (so far).
I heard cr.MP is now like Birdieâs. So thatâs pretty nice.
The universal command grab nerf will do nothing. Top players have already shown that they think itâs safer to take command grabs than to jump away from them.
C.mp vtc cancel seems pretty good. Good to see Mika get new unga.
I donât think that people fully realize how significant the changes are to Mika.
Capcom cleary have no vision or direction in mind for her. Now here are the issues. Mika is a character who have to rely on lights to pressure and normal throws. Her having a crouching throw was there because her command grabs are low damage and the range isnât that great. A lot of characters could walk out of Mikaâs tick grabs so that was her reward. After a dream driver, Mika was at a position where she could meaty with Lady Mika, her single plus on block medium or heavy.
Now the changes in AE made it that Dream driver now does 120 damage up from 100 but she doesnât get the plus frames pressure anymore. It basically resets the neutral. Keep in mind that Dream driver was her primary way of getting to the meaty lady Mika situation.
Now further along we see that for Mika to sustain pressure and keep staying in, she needs to do more command grabs. Now what happened is that Capcom only buffed the damage on ex typhoon. The other command grabs are all the same. So you are being asked to go more for the risky option of the command grab, while they made it even riskier to do so.
Mika is already at 950 HP so risk taking isnât going to be that rewarding. You are asked to go for regular throws but that end your pressure or risk everything for a command grab that leads to a plus 2 situation.
Basically Mika have gotten better defensivly but is now much worse offensively. She is being asked to play more neutral when she have one of the weakest neutral tools in the game.
Luffy already said that he have been playing Kolin since Capcom cup and he is switching. Fuudo told Joey 900 at psx that if Mika isnât better overall that he would switch.
Based on what I am seeing. Every single MU that Mika used to get outclassed in in the neutral but win by pressure will be worse. So Vega,Karin,Cammy, Nash, Kolin, Urien and others will all be much worse than they already was. Then add the already bad MUs like Guile who might as well be impossible in AE and Zangief who already destroy Mika.
Mika was a character that got butchered from S1 to S2 and she made it by cuz the meta of s2 was something she could do. Now with a more neutral based game and her retaining all of the nerfs from S1. I canât see how this character wonât get plummeted in the tiers.
We are looking at a S2 Alex situation here
Yeah its looking pretty rough for her this season
I feel sorry for every Mika player that is not me. They nerfed every Mika player who doesnât play her boring as hell. They gave you guys the chair. (Awful pun but someone had to make it.) I hope more buffs for her are in the completed notes cuz the nerf to Medium Punch on top of the day dream is just way too much for sticky type Mikaâs. I hope you all like that Lady Mika buff though. If itâs in the most op form from PSX at least we got possibly frame trap ca >_>;
With the recent announcement of the closing of this forum I have a few notes:
First of all, itâs been fun fam. Aside from discord, are any of you active elsewhere for discussing R.Mika tech and the like?
Second of all, I strongly encourage the Mika army to review this grapple buddy list and get everyoneâs info who they know and want to continue training with. forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/208185/r-mika-grapple-buddy-list
Thirdly, letâs make it our mission here to generate as much AE Mika tech and discussion helping out our fellow Mikaâs before the forum closes down. Itâs only two weeks, but we can get a lot done in that time! I know yâall have been ghosting or coming by only every now and then but lets go out with a bang!
Lastly if any of you are on twitter Iâd be more than happy to be mutuals. I read, post, and interact there every day and am more than happy to talk fighting games with you all there further. Twitter is in my sig.
@HanDred_Fist @Raccon I just joined the SRK discord: https://discord.gg/zu4mK2C
Only place Iâll be going for now until a new forum is hopefully created by someone.
Iâm already there, on Mika discord.
dang the forum is shutting down? Guess its time I started using discord⊠(not that must has happened on forums since discord took over lol)
Honestly I think that was part of the problem. The social aspect of forums is what keeps people coming back to them in between tech dumps. The comradery is one of the other main functions of a forum. The problem being SRK is/was notoriously toxic. There are pockets of good, but the pockets largely moved to Discord which is a bit better for âtight nitâ interactions to begin with. Once Discord replaced the day to day interactions, the forum was doomed through out competition of a vital aspect of what keeps forums healthy. No one should be surprised by the forum closing down if theyâve been around here in the last two years, thatâs for sure.
Could someone link me to the new discord?
<- Could not be more underwhelmed by the S3 changes
<- Strongly suspects that a lot of counter-hit combos will no longer work
