R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

Of course I gonna buy it. She looks pretty cute.

Might be one of her best costumes actually

When does this come out?

Ok, I know is too early to say, but do you think Mika has high chances to be in a future SF game? I’m suspect to say but I feel like an expressive part of SFV floodlights are targeted on her (design, personality, sex appeal, gameplay wise). I mean, she is a mix of Poison (controversial), El Fuerte (hated char), Dan (goofy) and Karin (pretty popular),which makes me believe she is an almost accurate inclusion in further titles, even if her role in the Story Mode was pretty shallow.

I think R. Mika is one of those characters that is far enough out of the ā€œcoreā€ SF character solar system that she is going to rarely come up again, if at all. I’m happy enough that she made the cut for this game considering how rare she was to see outside of random references.

Hmm, well in A Shadow Falls she is about as important as Ibuki (a core character) and therefore more important than some other characters (r.i.p. necalli). But in the individual story modes she is all over the place. Whoever was writing the story modes took a lot of joy in her clearly, as she is almost leveraged as a ā€˜shining star of the future’ sorta deal. I think Capcom realized that they could not make her their mascot for various reasons, even though she has a ton of potential for various marketing things, and therefore tried pushing her to the side a little bit more than was originally intended.

That being said, she has a pretty big impact in this game even in season 2 and Fuudo being a constant threat and one of the few Japanese players to consistently perform well in premier events gives Capcom Japan a lot of reason to leverage her. There is a reason they gave her a radio show after all. She CAN market pretty well in the Japanese market. But she generally just mechanically speaking shines best in this Street Fighter. I’m not sure she would translate well to another, but as things are now Capcom has definetly put her in a more important position than she probably ever would have in other games.

The long in short though is, I think R.Mika would have a pretty good shot at being in the next game IF the Japanese scene doesn’t die and somehow goes through a Renaissance AND Fuudo is instrumental in that somehow. Otherwise the American market is a bit too constrictive, and there are better candidates for ā€˜female poster child’ for that market. She has to compete with some amazing and equally important Street Fighter women. Chun Li (old guard 2nd best known fighting game character) Cammy (clearly the Developers favorite in this game and a good starter character) and Karin (ohohohohoho, but more seriously she gets a lot of face time with pros). I’m just glad she got in this game and got an opportunity to make such an impact. I don’t think she is here to say, but a lot of people know her now and get to feel the Muscle Spirit.

Sorry for the wall of text and rambling but I could literally go on for hours about this, I didn’t even get into the marketing problems ^^; Didn’t want to make y’all suffer through all my ranting so I specifically didn’t go into deeper explanations/thoughts.

@HanDred_Fist no worries man, you can write as much as you can. We appreciated your opinions and suggestions.

Actually I wanna warm up this thread since it’s been running inactive recently so any new topic is a good way to live it up.

Returning to her popularity and chances to return, her trailer got more than 1 million of views, which is pretty good. Next to Chun and Cammy, she’s the character with more costumes so far (seven in the total), which makes me think Mika’s a significant brand to Capcom.
Her voices, both in Japanese and English, were welcomed though fans. Her costumes as well. Furthermore, her scene with Balrog in sm was one of the its highlights, and being the only female pro-wrestler in the series already playable makes her definitely an ace up my sleeve.
And I still think Iwashigahama Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling has high chances do be explored in further titles/animations. How amazing would be Mika’s partners being revealed and detailed as fighters in one SF game?

@mykka @amrraed @C100 @ā€œDevilJin 01ā€

let’s talk about this

I think she has a good chance of returning in future games, maybe not SF6 but perhaps SF7 if they ever get there, and also is crossover games. She’s the only female wrestler of the franchise and has popularity behind her. I think SF5 made a good job of making her character actually be usable and good, by winning events and being featured a lot.

It is interesting. Mika is really popular among the fans but not that popular among the players. She is kinda like Chun Li in that regard.

I think she might have hard time though. I can always see mainstays and new characters having better shots at making it in the future games over her. So what I think is that even if she does eventually make it into another SF game, I don’t see her in the launch roster for said game. I think she is in the same boat as Cody, Guy, Adon and others.

With all of that being said. I am 26 now and SF5 might make it to 2020 so at least for me and my generation, I don’t see myself being that serious into a 2022 game or something. I sure hope Cody, Poison, Mika and Chun will be in all future titles cuz they are my favourites.

I think she is in the same level of relevance like Ibuki and Makoto. Karin, on the contrary, is getting high, being probably the 4th or 5th most important female in the series (behind Chun, Cammy, Rose, Viper/Juri).

She should become the new Sakura - give her a spin off pro wrestling game featuring a whole new caste but including her. Have Zangief and El Fuerte appear in this game, maybe poison and hugo too.

I would love to have her return in another SF game. I feel like she could be the successor to Gief just like Sakura is kind of the successor to Ryu in a sense. I think Capcom can roll with that and get her more involved in future storylines. She got a likable personality, hella strong (literally took Balrog’s Turn Punch to the face like a champ), and she’s unique in the fact that she’s the only female wrestler in the series. Fingers crossed on my end.

I do think SFV got her some new fans for future generations. Even if its not for us since we’re getting old, the new kids finally know who she is, and I think SFV did her justice. In fact I never really cared for her in A3, so I think its been a positive rebranding of R Mika

They need to give Ibuki more serious plotlines than ā€œboyz omgz!!!ā€, her popularity is there, now just give her something to do and a purpose. But that’s something to discuss in the Ibuki forum so I’m gonna quote it there too.

There’s a code that loosens her hair

What is the code? I haven’t used any of the skins with these yet, what do I do?

@S-Laughter You basically hold up, all three punch buttons, and light kick at the same time during either the versus screen, the intros before the fight starts, or when a round ends.

I think it is when the screen goes white just before the round begins. People say that this is when the actual loading happens and that all of the previous shit is just for show but who knows.

I’ve had the ā€œoutfit codeā€ work in weird ways. I’ve had it work by holding the buttons from just before the white flash up through the first intro playing. But I’ve also had it randomly fail sometimes when I try it that way.

Best way I’ve found to have it work consistently is to hold the button combo through the Vs. screen coming up, all the way through the white flash up to the first intro. Holding all the way through the white flash seems to be the key. Letting up even just a bit before it finishes loading in will give you just the regular costume.
