I could see your point if this was all changing within Season 1. In Season 2 her tools will have new context so different story till we see everything.
I agree that the no meaty after v reversal makes it more stale and boring, but canāt really say that is a huge problem until we see more.
I canāt say itās a huge problem either but itās certainly one less thing she can do given that it doesnāt seem like sheās getting any useful buffs at all. Like thereās a really long list of things that you could change to appease people and make Mika both a more solid, traditional (see also: boring) character while simultaneously making her less hated. Something like changing s.HK from -4 to -2 is pretty damn far down that list.

I would personally like that. I have always gravitated toward corner bullies but i would trade some of that strength for a better neutral.

Absolutely. Keeping in mind that better neutral would likely equal a different kind of corner bullying. Like imagine if f+MK was closer to its Beta version in terms of how you could control the movement but was 0 on block and could combo naturally into 3f s.LP or cr.LP and into s.MP on CH. Same for cr.MK. How about slightly faster startup for cr.MP make it able to hit crouching characters and also make it airborne earlier. If her non-s.MP medium buttons where actual threats in neutral (i.e. lead to actual damage instead of being single hits most of the time) I would gladly take that scenario if the price is the current corner vortex. Basically what Iāve just described is SFIV Rose with a command grab instead of a projectile. I would be fine playing that character.
I would also say that it couldnāt hurt to buff her V-Skill as while it is, IMO, a really cool idea about the only thing it does right now is get you killed. Let me move around while itās active. Let me chose where the microphone gets tossed. For the love of god make the recovery better.
Imho her V-Skill need a buff also because the slower grey health regeneration in season 2.
And⦠talking about her uncharged HK, normal crush counter instead of juggle? I mean, many characters have a button with similar startup / range dealing ground CC.
Maybe it could be a good tool for her mid-screen game now that the Wallbounce is goneā¦
I doubt that. An airborne, low crushing move that is only -2 on block and getting a full combo out of it would be way too good IMO.
I get that you mean ones like Necalliās, Karinās and Kenās but all of these are -5 on block IIRC.
The closest thing to her new st.HK is the one Rashid have and that also pops up like Mikaās st.HK currently do.
I would like a better walkspeed, especially backwards. Her forward walkspeed isnāt bad imo.
I would like to have some range on f.MK again.
The problem we are going to have now is that with cr.HP being gone we are gonna have to either dash forward, charge dropkick, jump, or try to whiff punish with st.HP as a way to get in. The crouching fierce was by far the best tool and is easily her most significant nerf.
I am not sure if everyone here realize what this change means. It means that our way of pressing with a block string that pushes us into the perfect cr.HP is gone. We are gonna get some pressure then forced out due to pushback then have to take another huge risk to get back in again. The reduction to input lag would also make it difficult to dash in or to whiff a cr.HP as a mobility tool.
Mika wouldnāt be able to bypass neutral anymore as LoyalSol would put it. Then again with the nerfs to others like Ken and Cammy, this is a pretty fair nerf to her in the meta of season 2.
A lot of stuff is very vacuum until people get their hands on it. Itās possible that c.HP could be nearly useless, but who knows if people are quoting the exact numbers and pushback changes on it. I just have a feeling that a move like c.HP will find a way to still be useful.
Mika in general is one of those characters that I feel all of the general patch changes basically indirectly buff her. Not to say that the nerfs donāt nerf her, but all of the game system changes pretty much work in her favor other than maybe no meaties after grabs. With that said, the slower recovering white chip, no meterless DPs and V Reversals no longer reducing stun if blocked pretty much offset and work in her favor any way. This basically puts her back in a situation where the person should nearly automatically lose if you get them in the corner (and her corner carry should still be among the best).
The nerfs will nerf her, but the indirect general buffs should put her back into strong form.
Honestly I donāt see how any command grab character is going to be bad in this version of the game when the honesty of knockdowns will make command grabs ideal to open people up.
I looked up Fubarduckās twitter and he specifically said that Brimstone is still loopable. I guess that mean that Mika still has enough advantage after it to be able to loop it. I really doubt that Capcom would nerf the Oki after this specifically since Unlike Laura and Alex. Mika has 2 throws, one with less range and damage but you get Oki which in my opinion is 100% fair.
130 for a command throw with this short of a range isnāt significant. Honestly what I love about Brimstone is the corner carry on it. The way Mika hops over their heads lift them and slam them, moves her a substantial distance in the direction of the throw.
Anyways. I doubt Capcom would nerf this throw specifically since it would make the move useless almost. I think having to sacrifice the range and damage of rainbow typhoon for oki is an honest and fair mechanic.
IMO any one of the nerfs sheās allegedly received would have been a fair nerf. Key word there is āoneā. As in any single nerf thatās likely coming down the pipe would have been a substantial downgrade to the character. IMO the most substantial is between the loss of midscreen wallbounce of f+MP~MP or s.LP and cr.LP going from 3f to 4f startup.
Itās looking rough for Mika Iāll admit just cuz nothing good has been said, but honestly not a lot good has been said about others like Karin or Cammy either.
Some characters are starting to find more stuff though now that people are cracking the download. Lots of good stuff found for Ryu despite his throw nerf and Ken still has some good stuff and new stuff also.
Wonāt be surprised if people find some other things in the crack for Mika or those patch notes bring some unexpected buffs.
Iām definitely gonna mess around with her when the patch hits. There are some nerfs that concern me like the cr.HP nerf, but overall, I think what makes Mika Mika is still there.
