R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

I’m at 5200 LP at the moment, like rank 650 or something like that. You can watch me?! I almost double perfected some 1600 rank player, I felt bad.

Because it is going to turn new players away, which is kind of exactly the opposite of what these forums are designed to do. Sure it’s just an opinion, but it was a little unnecessary imo

Do you have any way to show she’s very popular, because I can at least look at SFV community site and see that she’s in the bottom half of popularity there

Beta character usage - one simple google search away:

As I have said, Mika has become less popular throughout the betas.

Also, personal experience. In the betas? Lots of R. Mikas. Now? I’d bet on not seeing one.

Its not something I’m taking personally. I know I’m better than some and alot worse than others. Drunkards walk gets it.
The elitist attitude turns away new players. Its like the FGC condtradicts itself when it comes to less skilled players.

Everyone can see who the best is. The gameplay speaks for itself. Why be so elitist about it though? What ever happened to humility?

To add to this, when you play online vs in person its a totally different mindset and environment. It’s one thing to beat someone in your pj’s in your own environment, its quite another to be outside of your house in ‘public’ mode with a bunch of other people watching you. Its a completely different game. You can sense and feel people, here them, know their personality to some degree, when its in person. When you fight in person your exposed to a huge amount of differences. I find it weird when people compare offline and online game play. Its as weird as comparing tournament play with games with your buddies. The environments, the mental and social stamina, and mindsets are completely different.

Further more, isn’t it ‘obvious’ that most people aren’t ‘good’ ie ‘fairly above average’ at something? Good is relative. So is ‘the best’. What is the point in stating that? I really don’t see any other than possibly trying to make yourself feel ‘better’ or to belittle online play. So yeah I’m going to straight up call bullshit on such a blanket meaningless statement. Sure its an ‘opinion’ but isn’t it silly to bring up something so obvious?

I respect you Syngin, so don’t take this as an attack on you. Negativity is negativity and it makes the environment less enjoyable for everyone. This isn’t to say that we shouldn’t argue with each other or disagree or even dislike each other, but isn’t it better to shun such uselessness if you want an environment where everyone helps each other out? There are a lot of people who don’t get the opportunity to have irl play or grapple buddies. There are a lot of people who don’t have the time to make this anything other than a hobby. It’s silly to me to basically ‘shame’ them for existing when they come to the forum specifically to connect with others and to possibly get help or help out others. So yeah, I don’t really think this is so much ‘sensitivity’ as it is ‘confronting a negative perspective’. Vigilance is better than letting it slide in some cases.

Pretty hard to offend me - forums are for discussion and that’s what this reads like to me

NativeImpact doing great at NextLevel right now, just beat LIJoe’s Nash

Been watching that kid’s stream a fair bit - really good for learning tech. and setups. Beating LIJoe’s Nash is no joke though.

NativeImpact GOING IN!!!

Winner!

That feeling when you make it to super silver but proceed to lose several in a row to send you back to 2500 :anguished:

Haha, I just peaked at 2100 and lost straight down to 1700 -_-

Back up I climb… to build a bridge with my… RAINBOW!!!

If you guys didn’t see native impact on NLBC last night be sure to check out the vod on twitch or whenever it gets on team spooky’s youtube. He played awesome.

There was one setup in particular I’m stealing where he would do passion press, charged s.HK, and then whiff cr.HP to move close to the opponent as they get up. Then he whiffs 2 more normals, I think f.MK and s.HP, to time a meaty f.HP. I’d have to watch the replay to make sure that was it but it was something like that. Great if you don’t have meter for ex peach juggle. I’m sure it’s been posted here before but it was cool to see it in action in a real match.

Is it archived on a twitch channel? Whats the name of it? EDIT: Nevermind i see it on TeamSp00ky

Lol I never disagreed with you on beta usage, I said her usage now doesn’t indicate she’s popular, which you seem to agree on

Usage does indicate popularity. Dropping of usage indicates a number of things.

A character that’s asked for over and over(and actually teased by capcom only to be replaced by a Doll).

She’s got a following.

Ken is popular, yet I’d be willing to bet his SFV usage is wayyy down compared to SFIV.

I don’t see nearly as many opponents using shoto characters in 5 as I did in 4.

its an interesting thing, because you’d think we would see kens as much as we did in SFIV, but him being altered (and allegedly bad) has really changed the environment.

Watching his twitch stream helps get your head around some of his timing for his meaty set ups. He’s got some great set plays.
