If they’re so terrible, you’d think you’d just beat them for easy wins, but no, you ‘can’t be bothered’.
Face it, you’re not even good enough to get past some FBs and get in close. I’d taunt you as well.

Yer right. Not good enough. That happens in a lot of matches but there are many matches when I get in without any problems . . . :arazz:
taunt me taunt me . . . :looney:
brb arcade
Where… do you live??? You only have buddies that come over 3 times a month? Sounds like the middle of nowhere…
lolz @ kyarisan . . . i was thinking the same too. I rarely have anyone over for SF . . .
There are about 3 arcade locations I know if in Oahu that have SFIV:tup:
I feel your pain, though. Online isn’t as good as offline, but if it’s all you got - then it’s all you got. Laggy SFIV is better than NO SFIV imo.
it was an honest question
We don’t have an arcade to go to, so between fifteen and twenty of us have started going to a gaming centre every weekend to play instead.
You don’t need an arcade to have a fighting game scene in your area.
Be a bit more proactive.
Yea man, wherever your location is, go check the Tournaments & Events or Regional Matchmaking & Discussion forums and if there’s nothing where you live, start a thread.
Where do you live, OP? Chances are there’s a scene that you don’t know about unless you’re really in the middle of nowhere. I mean, I think the MD/VA area is really solid, and every time I show up to a tournament or meetup there’s always a bunch of guys saying like, how long has this been going on?
Playing in arcades or meeting up with people to play is fun and great if you can, but honestly, even with lag and hordes of scrubby people, there is something to be said for getting to play whenever you feel like it with zero logistics. You also get to play a lot of different matchups, whereas when you have a smallish scene of people to play with regularly, not only are you limited to a few matchups, but you’ll be used to how only a certain number of people play.
If you want to be like a top tournament player, then yeah you’ll need to go to a few tournaments and travel to play with people from other areas, but you can probably get really solid from mostly playing online and supplementing it with playing with real people every so often.
i feel bad for all the top notch offline players that get beaten by terrible online scrubs.
i wish winning offline could somehow translate into winning online.
I don’t know why people are even entertaining this thread seriously.
OP, I’ll see you online tomorrow, you know damn well you’re not quitting SFIV. You’re a member of SRK for crying out loud. You love SF too much and will play even with this ‘lag’ being present.
I have a similar feeling but for different reasons. I thought i was pretty good player bc i kind of did pretty well online. I went to my first tournament and learned just how shitty my play was. So now I know that the only real competition is in person against people who are better than me.
Offline, yes, your timing can be more precise and it’s an better experience, obviously. We all wish we had vibrant arcade communities near us.
But you can’t discount the sheer variety you encounter online, or the mass number of games you can play (without paying a dollar per play). You will be forced to learn how to beat random stuff you might never come across in the arcades. Yea, your execution and timing might suffer a bit, but you will improve your strategy and adaptability.
I think there are pros and cons to both ways of playing–with the arcades obviously having the upper hand.
Best netcode ever.
Bye.
Information has to travel, yes. every match will have SOME lag.
Hasnt this been discussed before ?
Personally, if you are a pro, you would want to focus on arcade because YES YES YES, online ruins your timing especially for timing critical characters.
On the otherhand, what kind of bullshit to say ‘online doesnt make you better’. Dont give this kind of crap because Online is more than just PERFECT offline-like execution, it’s lots more than that and most importantly getting to
And of course, dont be dumb and play someone across the globe where the lag is like a slow-motion movie.
By your logic, there is ‘lag’ when playing Halo via LAN party as opposed to split screen.
Don’t know why I brought that up seeing as it is in fact true but still … Point is, not all lag affects gameplay, even with timing critical games like SFIV.
