Quick question

I didn’t see an introduction thread, but hey. I am rather new to fighting games.

I had a bunch of random MSP left over from when I was hacked (though I was refunded the money so it worked in my favor) I bought SF:AE, SFxT, and UMVC3 (I bought fighting games because I am not a fan of FPS on console, besides black ops2 sometimes, and I don’t play much single player games) I haven’t been able to decide on which game to stick with and I have enough for 1 or 2 more games. I also picked up P4A for $4 today.

Anyway, should I spend my MSP on SG, is it worth it? do people play? or should I get MK9, KOF VIII, SCV, or Tekken Tag. I am not sure which one of these would be the best choice, which game has more people ect.

Yes I am all over the place in choosing a VS game to stick with, I haven’t found one that I REALLLY love (besides liking UMVC3)

What are your guys opinions on which game and which game has the most player base?

Thanks!

MICROSOFT POINTS?
XBOX360?
SKULLGIRLS?

i think its worth getting SG

Obviously you’re going to get a resounding YES if you ask ‘Should I buy Skullgirls?’ in here. This is the Skullgirls forum. All we do (aside from SaikoJosh) is endlessly prattle on about how much we love the game.

The best way to get a proper answer to that question is go download the trial. It’s free, it gives you access to two very different characters and a good portion of the very good tutorials. It’ll give you a good taste of whether you’re going to like the game or not.

Out of all the games you listed above, SG is most like UMvC3. Sorta kinda. If you like that, you might like SG.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Xbox version is currently behind the PS3 in terms of balance patching, so it’s missing a bunch of features and fixes you’ll find on PS3.

Go get the trial though. It’s free. There is virtually no reason to not try the game first if you’re considering buying it.

Cool, thanks. The patch is coming though for the xbox yes? I would imagine so if it came for ps3 lol =P

What about the player base on SG? is there only like the same 5-10people or there’s a good pool of players?

I am by no means a player who is looking to become ‘pro’ and attend tournaments ect. Just looking for a good fighting game I could enjoy and get good at without getting my ass handed to me EVERY time =P

I will definitely be giving it a go in a few minutes =D

The patch is coming eventually, but it’ll be several weeks out at the earliest. Now don’t get me wrong, the pre-patch game is still good, it’s just* slightly different.*

Unfortunately, the player base on the 360 is definitely smaller than PS3, especially because it’s lagging behind with the patch. However, if you head over to the XBL Matchmaking Thread you should be able to find plenty of games when you want em.

One of the great things about SG is that it’s a very fun game at casual levels. It’s got a small roster, but basic combos are really easy and the ability to choose the size of your teams is great when you’re dicking around with friends.

Give it a twirl in arcade or something to see what it feels like, then check out the tutorials. Even if you don’t actually like Skullgirls and decide not to buy the full game, they will make you better at every fighting game you play afterwards. (The blocking tutorials in particular are very very clever.)
