Questions from a new sent player

pressing the direction the same time as the lk works also and is the most common. the only reason why i say to do the direction slightly before the lk is to make sure you cancel the lag and also to avoid pressing the LK a little earlier than the direction.

and yes when i notice people doing it at the arcade, they do it too fast and mess up. surprisingly you have a decent amount of time between attacks. i mean the hit stun for sents moves are quite generous. the only time you should be trying to do a fast fly combo crazy fast if you do a RE-fly combo. ex: launch, lp, lp, fly, lp lp, unfly, fly, U+lp, lp, unfly, fly, U+lp, lp etc. and the only reason why you need to do it so fast is because there are more commands to input.

yes tapping the direction should work, i usually hold the direction because i usually fast fly F or U/F so holding the direction will bring you closer to the opponent which can open up for a 2nd, or even 3rd RP with an assist. nuetral is necessary, but if you FF going F or U/F you pass through nuetral

with the semi-infinitesyou listed, holding the direction may be necessary. as you said, they are very strict. i can do them, and have realized all the tricks.

tips to do those combos, typically the first one:

after you launch, you want to be as close as possible to the opponent as possible, so hold u/f for the superjump. Now after the fly, you want to press either F or U/F for the ff to stay as close as possible. the unfly, LK needs to be done immediately for the lk to hit. now this leaves you a little bit UNDER the opponent, now to get back to the original height you want to fly and press U/F (sometimes F will work) to get optimal positioning and continue with the combo.

However, if you have magneto. i’d rather stick to the rape combo. launch, lk, fly, f.lk, f.hp, unfly, lk+mag projectile, hp / mouthbeam xx RP xx HSF, unblockable. VERY easy, can be done mid screen if you learn the timing,and SUPER DAMAGING

Sometimes. Don’t do it.

I think it doesn’t work in small characters… it looks like lk,mk wich works easy in big characters as juggernau and sentinel, and hardly work in small ones as servbot, wolverine, roll, megaman.

I did it to learn fast fly

  • try basic - launcher, lk, ff, lk, rocket. - at this point I tryed to found a direction wich fits well after fly, I feel more confortable using up, up forward, or forward.
    After this I tryed fast fly with assist, It was terrible in firsts attempts, but it started working well after a lot of training.
    Do fast fly during matches - This is the point… When you superjump with sentinel, In my opinion you must to have in your mind exactly what you want to do. A lot of people thinks doing fast fly, after the first lk connects and try to do it very quickly…

Ive tried a lot of ways to do an easier fast fly, and find this one…

launcher, wait sentinel gets higher than opponent, lk, fly, lk(x2), mk, rocket… as you can see it’s without direction… why it works?? I dont know… Why I does lk twice(in brackets) I dont know too… but it works…
A friend of mine said that you can do it with just 1 lk, but you need to guess the exaclty frame to do.
I prefer the fast fly with direction, because you can do in all cases, It doesn’t matter if you are higher or lower in the air.

Hey, I need some strategy against cable… like how to zone him with sent… Its hard.
In a video I see J.Wong doing anything like this with sent - cable jumps in sent direction doing hk, sent dashes back, laser, rocketxxHSF… how to dash back this way??.. a lot of times I tryed and my sent becomes in block animation and didn’t dash… I need to dash before I see cable doing HK??

its not safe tp zone cable while using sent. only attack if its completely safe. ground mouthbeam xx fly xx unfly is usually pretty safe. but thats about it. ALWAYS PLAY SAFE AGAINST CABLE. especially with sent. he can easily be hit with 5 meters since he falls so fast. sent does big damage with combos. just be patient, don’t get hit and once you get a touch on him, make it count.

So launch,lk,fly,lf,rocket is the most basic of the basic sentinle air combo that includes fly?

The only reason that I’m learning sentinel is because I recently got interested in using the Spiral/Sent trap so I’m forced to learn to use sentinel lol.

Also another question, how are you suppose to aircombo a character like servbot? I know that the chances of facing someone using servbot is very low, but how would you actually aircombo a servbot? I mean as soon as I launch him I do lp and then when I do lk it misses x.x

s.hk ^ sj.lk FF f.lk f.mk dpRP is the basic FF combo

On Servbot, sj.lk sj.mp hpRP should work. You might need to use dpRP depending on their position.

I saw someone do HSF and then instead of doing dash,hp,rocketpunch,hsf

How exactly did he do this? I tried doing it also, but my HSF wouldn’t come out faster enough to make it connect to the first HSF. Sometimes my 2nd HSF wouldn’t come out at all.

i’m thinking sent’s the only character left there. you don’t do the qcf+KK motion, IMO he did the A1+A2 command. it comes out faster.
