(First: Is this even the right forum to ask SFIV questions?)
I’m seriously considering paying to watch the next Topanga, which starts sometime tomorrow (Thursday). But I want to know what I’m getting myself into. So I’ll just rattle off the questions that I can’t find answers to. I know some other folks here are planning to watch it.
1: Exactly what are the planned times for the broadcasts? ;p
2: There are nine matchups planned per day. What is a typical span of time for each matchup, given the rules that have been laid down?
3: Is it 100% necessary to pay to watch the stream, or does paying simply put your priority higher (and enable whatever passes for high resolution on NicoVideo)?
4: For people who elect not to pay, is the video at least made available after the event is over?
5: There’s almost zero likelihood I’ll actually be able to be in front of my PC during each of the matches. What is a good method for setting up a scheduled recording of the feeds, either using Fraps or something else?
Any other relevant info is welcome. PMs also welcome. Thanks.
IIRC the last topanga league wasn’t avaiable for purchase outside of japan.
Yes you have to pay. If you don’t pay I believe you can watch until a certain amount of viewers is reached then you’re kicked out (this is a really low number, like 1k at most).
Not officially. You can find matches on youtube (usually taken down pretty fast), youku (some chinese youtube shit) or torrents. A long time after the event you can find them on youtube.
There’s a ticket option that lets you watch the VODs for a certain timeframe and another that only lets you watch live.
Thanks. Confirmed a lot of my fears. Just a quick additional question about this.
The link which details the how-to doesn’t particularly differentiate between choosing to watch live and choosing to watch the recorded stream, insofar as ticket price. Does buying the ticket not grant access to both?
Not sure, sorry. I believe the previous topanga had different price tickets it’s something that I have on the back of my mind and can’t confirm 100%. It has something to do with premium niconico accounts or credits or something like that.
