Question about wires w/ Chimp

I know.
You don’t need it.

God this wire is such garbage, i barely moved one of the joints and it broke instantly.

Im going to return it tomorrow and exchange it for 22g braided wire.

dont get 22 gauge wire again, you’ll regret it, again

just get 26-28 or even 30 like mentioned. Also do tin the wires, makes for a stronger connection.

I use 26 gauge stranded wire, especially for things with through hole. Tinning twisted stranded wires makes it easier to stick stranded through a hole.
Solid core is very prone to breaking, less flexible and tearing off metal contacts on a pcb. I only use it for wiring buttons to a screw down terminal, but go with stranded all the way.
Try looking up for local electronics supply stores on yelp.com.

Ive tried 4+ local electronic shops, and none of them carry wires that small.

My only option for smallest is a 22 gauge stranded at radio shack.

And the closest home depot is a hike from here.

I think ill have to manage with 22 gauge. I don’t think it will be that bad, my only problem was the breaking and I think that will be solved with switching over to stranded.

I Dual Mod a ChImp with stranded 22 AWG no problem.

Although with 28 AWG, I can do this:

Where have I seen this before…? Lol.

Starting up my project again. Few questions.

Does the cylindrical ring that surrounds the USB cable serve any purpose? Its pretty hefty. And I only noticed that it just looped it together to make it shorter, but im going to use more of the USB cable so I just took it off.

Also, i read somewhere that shieldground doesnt serve any major purpose?

I cut the wire back about an inch to expose more wire, and just ended up cutting the shieldground wires and insulation off. Is it okay if i do that or do i need that to be grounded.

EDIT: What about the white hairy stuff inside the individual USB cables? Is that insulation I guess?

Does that need to be soldered or should it be seperated.

You don’t need Shield Ground.

And that cylinder thing is a Ferrite Bead.
It to suppress high frequency noise is all.

Is it necessary to have on? I took it off before soldering.

No need Shield Ground.
No need Ferrite Bead.

I think im going to wait until I get the proper equipment.

I desperately need a solder sucker tool, all the holes i need to solder are covered up and pushing them through when theyre molten is tricky.

The 22 gauge stranded is too big for the madcatz board, should have seen that coming. And on top of that I might as well get a multimeter to check if my parts are even working anymore, because ive heated the madcatz and chimp pcb for a long time trying to solder them now.

Anybody have any preferred sites they buy stuff from?
