Does anyone know who did the art for the more realistic side of characters (the portraits when you pick S/N/K groove) and where I can find them, and if that artist did any others like that?
Former SNK and now present Capcom artist Shinkiro did that art, he’s best known for his SNK artwork throughout the nineties, he’s done it all from Fatal Fury to SS to KOF to even SNK titles that weren’t fighting games. Presently, Shinkiro does art for Capcom, he did the art for of course the CvS games, the GBA Super Ghouls n’Ghosts port, that Dino shooter game for PS2, Final Fight One for GBA and his most recent work being Capcom Fighting Jam. Shinkiro has also done some guest work for Udon’s Street Fighter comic and he’s done a cover for an issue of Spiderman I think.
You can find the Shinkiro CvS1 and CvS2 art at this site: http://shingotink.tripod.com/
I’m not sure, but I think Shinkiro might be a “she”.
Well last time I heard, Shinkiro was a dude, I think you might be mistaking him for Senri Kita, the woman who drew the ill fated CFAS art and the poorly received 3D Samurai Shodown games.
EDIT: What the hell did you do to get banned?
Interestingly enough, the Capcom art in CvS2 was done by Shinkiro as well.
Really? That’s hard to believe, but if I remember right, Shinkiro is the only one listed for drawing in the credits, so that’s probably true AND amazing. Did She/he/whoever also do the art for CFJ?
Actually no, the Capcom Groove art in CvS2 and some of CvS1/Pro’s art was done by Kinu Nishimura, Shinkiro only did the SNK Groove art.
I just said that already in the opening post, yes Shinkiro did do the character art for CFJ. CFJ is a throwback to his notso uber realistic style he used for the early KOFs and Fatal Fury series.
Oh yeah, I remember the KoF 94’ to 95’ stuff where everyone had that stupid grin and looked like something out of 1950’s soda shop.
Thanks guys. Did Shinkiro do any other artwork for capcom characters?
Oh drat, I heard that he did from elsewhere. My bad.
I believe Shinkiro has done a lot of game covers for Capcom recently, especially for GBA games like Final Fight One and Ghouls N’ Ghosts…
