Question about controllers for TvC

I bought wii pads thinking that they plug directly into the console. But they plug into the wireless remote thingy. Kinda not feeling that, in case there is battery problems, or a lag issue from the wireless matrix (is there!?!). Anyone know anythiing that plugs diirectly iinto the console? Or do all the wii type controllers have to be plugged iinto the wireless remote thiingys? We don’t play on arcade sticks here-- Sega Saturn Horii pads for life! But i’d rather use an arcade stick if it goes right into the console. But if there is a pad that plugs directly into the console?! Please link or let me know.
Or is there no known lag issues with button inputs doing it via wiireless remote thingys?
Hi

Controller --> GC adapter. Search around the boards a bit, because some adapters work better than others.

I’ve been using a classic controller, and I haven’t noticed any input lag, but to me, the game seems very forgiving regarding inputs to get out special moves.

WHat’s GC adapter?

All wii controlers plug into the wii remote. You can get any gamecube controller you want and plug it directly in.

As for any lag… I haven’t heard of any. The remote, for all it’s gimmickness, is actually a pretty technologically solid piece of kit.

A Gamecube Adapter.

It has a slot for your controller and then plugs into your Wii.

I prefer the Hori Wii Arcade Stick, but Datel makes a nice pad that is truly wireless. It’s called the Retro pad and uses 2 AAA batteries. It’s more ergonomic than the Classic Controller but I find the CC d-pad to be a tiny bit better.

Honestly, I have issues with the GC controller. I think it’s quite bad for Traditional Fighters, and I’m actually looking for some alternatives. I’ve tried the CC and I can get used to it like I am the GC, but I think I might want a PS2 controller since that’s just the best thing after an Arcade stick.

What do you guys think?

The way this game moves you really need a stick imho.

Wiimotes use Bluetooth technology. You can expect little to absolutely no lag at all.

You dont see the majority of SSBB players, who use the Wiimote/Nunchuk/Classic Controller, complaining about lag at tournies.

Cool, thanks for info. Going to have to try the above pad.

I use the classic controller. It’s absolutely fine for short bursts. If you intend on playing for the whole day though…expect calluses. If you’re more of a stick guy then definitely get a stick. The Cube pad is definitely doable but you’ll be messing up a lot of half circle and dragon punch motions because the d-pad is so tiny. As for now it’s the classic controller for me.

Classic controller seems faster than 2 adapters I tested so far.

Choose Ryu with both controllers. Press 1 at the same time with both a few times. See wich Ryu wins more. Now change hands and do the same. If the same Ryu is winning no matter which hand you’re pressing the button, there’s a chance the other controller has some lag. So far I compared 2 adapters (the expensive one from Play Asia and a random from my friend) and both were slower than the Classic Controller. It’s hard to notice in regular play, but after the tests it becomes more evident.
