i would like to see you guys get Super Street Fighter II Turbo
So here is what I am looking to put in over the next few months. Let me know your thoughts. Also what are your feelings on SSF4AE. If we moved on it would that be a draw for you to hang out. knowing it is coming to consoles in about 2 months…
1.) Super Street Fighter II Turbo
2.) Power stone
3.) Dark Stalkers : The night Warriors
4.) Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Personally, I would definitely make a lot time to play SSF4AE at PWA if you had it even with console releases. I don’t mind paying to play and I love the experience of playing people in an arcade. I can’t speak for others though!
So as much as I’d love AE at the arcade, I would hate to see the community fail to support it.
That is the BIG question here. We are thinking on pulling the trigger on SSF4AE however with the console release on the horizon is this game going to be a big enough draw to bring people in on a regular basis for it to be financially worth our time
If Capcom left SSF4AE out of the Console scene then it gives us a niche and I would it is a higher persuit for us.
Again you can beat a one-one-one trash talking fun experience live. Rather than sitting at home playing on-line.
Which is why I am looking for feedback?
It is more beneficial and cheaper for us to spend the money on other older popular/unique fighting machines along with upgrading control systems on the current machines on the floor than plop down $6000.00 on a Tatio 2 SSF4AE Verses system if it would only excite people for a few days and fizzle out. While pain in my ass redemption games pay for themselves in 2 days of arriving on-site.
Does this mean we will not go forward with something like SSF4AE, not necessarily… If the community is hungry for it and we get a huge backing and commitment that it would be played then it might be worth pursuing.
I am also going to look at some other new fighters where the price is a little more reasonable as well.
Thoughts?

Thoughts on Tekken Tag??
if it’s the current tekken cab you guys have, the button layout is weird
as for AE
like tom said i don’t mind paying to play, plus you could draw in people and have tournaments on it
there aren’t too many authentic ssfiv AE cabs in the usa so i think that you guys having one would be something unique
AE would be a great investment for the hardcore SF4 fans that grew up living in the arcade at its height in the 90’s. I just don’t believe the fan base round these parts is big enough to give you the return you would be looking for given an investment of that magnitude.
SF4 is big because of the casual fan it draws but it’s that same demographic that would rather sit on its butt and play online all day. I think that can explain why Capcom waited more than 6 months to release AE to consoles to give arcade owners time to get return on their investment. I would love to wrong about this and have PWA swarmed with players far and wide to play AE, but I am not sure how realistic that is with it being only two months away as DLC and disk.
I like the above list with Tekken Tag, but as for Darkstalkers how about Vampire Savior instead=). Gundam Extreme Vs. and a head to head cab with Twin Sticks for Virtual On Force would fit the bill for any giant robot fanatics that might come through.
I have no idea the pricing for any of this but KOF13 might be a draw since the release is in limbo and machines are scarce. CS2 may draw because its obscure, flashy and not the typical Street fighter fare. I would gauge that by how well the CS machine is currently doing and take it from there.
Agree with the upgrades to CVS2 and Alphas first.
there were like what, 4 games made for that board? Probably better off just making a cab and running it through MAME. People would still totally play it.
Yeah, i would say kof13, cause, like laurence is saying, it’s release is the absolute furthest away for a big title and there are like 3 in the entire US. Of course, New England isn’t exactly Mexico–where people would literally be clawing each other to play it. It just seems like such a good title though.
Super Turbo and MvC2 would both be really solid additions. Of course, both are also pretty cheap and available on the current gen consoles. So, to me, this would make investing in it a potentially risky move since more than half the people who have responded to thoughts about AE said they wouldn’t play it if they had it at home… but then again, it seems as if it would be proof that people WILL play a game in an arcade that is available in their living room since it has received a number of votes. Obviously, the risk/reward is a bit skewed but it’s the same line of thinking.
I second this. I don’t even like street fighter and I would play the crap out of it. especially since adam has stated they would run sanwa parts with hd monitors (not TVs, monitors accepting raw data with no input lag). I actually think people would get better at the game faster because every dollar you spend is literally a challenge to somebody else and it’s just far more exciting at a machine. I’ve always thought that arcade fostered more of a community atmosphere too.
The problem is the money. Gamers aren’t exactly rich because our hobby is expensive on top of RL obligations. Spending a dollar per play to improve when you can do the same at home is burning unnecessary amounts of money that can be contributed elsewhere. The point is the time to grab an AE machine was at the end of 2010 as they were coming to market or the very beginning of this year. Obviously PWA wasn’t here at that time, but unfortunately it is about the timing. While these newer games are easily accessible at home many classic games are not.
PWA can certainly be the home of these harder to find games. Look at the buzz regarding having CVS2 as part of the PWA roster. That’s not the easiest game to find on console nor are others like last blade, powerstone, galaxy fight, world heroes, Samurai showdown 4-6 etc. To top it off unless you own a Sega Saturn or Dreamcast (what are those?) you will more than likely be receiving far inferior renditions of these fighters and others, validating a trip to the arcade much more. Bide the time with more classic/obscure entries and I would be surprised if an AE console release didn’t drop the price significantly for an AE machine (following simple supply and demand since I know nothing about arcade pricing lol). Perhaps bringing one in with less of an investment will pay dividends much sooner and be a safer venture as a whole.
I agree with the bolded part 100%. While AE would be awesome to have, I would prefer it if the controls are upgraded on the fighters before that happens. If you can’t do Sanwa for all of them (understandable), at least upgrade the parts to iL Eurosticks and iL Competition buttons. It’ll be a huge improvement over the current sticks/buttons you have on most of the machines currently and it’ll fit into your existing panels without having to drill larger holes or replacing the panels outright. I have a set of these (1 joystick, 6 buttons) that I bought years ago and never used, so I’d gladly donate them if you’d like to install them on a cabinet and get feedback from the other players. I’ll be heading up there tonight anyways.
As for new machines, I agree with everyone that wanted a Super Turbo machine since that game is a classic and a lot of people still seem prefer it over HD Remix. I’d also like to see some Puzzle Fighter if at all possible because I love that game so much. As for brand new games, it would be cool to see you guys first in line for Tekken Tag 2. I’m not sure how big it’ll be compared to AE though. I also know a lot of people that would kill to see an Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA setup or a Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 4 setup when that comes out, but I imagine those costing a whole lot of money. Fun World in Nashua made a lot of money over the older versions back in the day though; at least it seemed like it because there were always people on it and those machines and the DDR machines were the only ones that they ever even bothered to fix on a regular basis, so maybe it’s a worthwhile investment in the long run.
Have you thought about getting more beat-em-ups? Especially the 3 or 4+ player varieties? Those are always fun and would attract younger people and groups that like to play co-op while eating tokens like nobody’s business. It’ll be awesome if you guys can get your hands on great and obscure 4-player beat-em-ups like Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara though I’m sure a lot of people will be happy with old classics like the TMNT games or X-Men and The Simpsons, too.
if you would like to donate joystick and buttons I would gladly put them into a machine
Adam
You sir brought back some good memories:tup: Loved the D&D beat-em-ups and imported Shadows Over Mystara for Saturn years ago…ah those were the days. Totally agree with getting a few of these on the floor.
Hey Adam! Speaking of Flyers, do you mind if I grab put a SB tournament poster at the arcade? In turn, I’ll see if Peter at the Souper Bowl will let me put up some flyers for the Fight Night!
