Names are not hidden to protect the innocent.
lol this ain’t relevant to juri but did ya’ll see the gameplay videos of oni akuma and evil ryu? mannnnnnnnnn!!! everyone gonna use those for like 3 months straight.
just saw them, uninterested, most likely have been purposely made OP by Capcom to fit their image, can only hope they havnt though.
well, from the comments and short stream i saw, general consensus is that evil ryu is looking good while oni is looking meh. ryu has akumas sweep, his dive kick, and his overhead links to srk to his ultra 1 or 2 basically for free. plus his dash is sexy. it travels far with short recovery as it looks. and of course i don’t have to mention the teleport and red fireball. damn! and his tatsu juggles to srk and most likely more. i won’t lie, i will be trying him out.
Right ill probably upload some vids once a week or so, it helps with viewing my personal progress, seeing my own mistakes and i obviously can get some optional constructive critisizm along the way.

Some Guy player i was playing against in Endless and this was the last match i won before he left/rage quit on me. Literally won 90% of all the matchs we played. By this point he was eating everything i threw at him, cracked.
Something i took away from these matchs were that i noticed you could cr.mk under Guy’s elbow drops, which can be helpful since at times they are hard to anti air, this way you catch him on landing or make it whiff and grab him.

I started playing ranked matchs again recently, i do a few every now and again when no ones running an endless lobby. Out of the lot this was probably my favourite, got steam rolled first round and pwnd the next 2 rounds.
I like the Chun matchup in anycase, you can zone her really well, especially if they dont know how to Hazanchu over fireballs. Far st.mk to poke through her poke strings works alot too.

A generic Dudley match. Although i havnt shown it much here i really like to abuse far St.mk in this matchup, it AA’s Dudley better than your crouching pokes at times, it keeps you safe from trading with the peoples elbow at its max distance. Also it knocks him out of command dash punchs and sliding Fierce punchs. Its also really good to use after a cr.mp to push him away, and you need space vs Dudley.
Nice games. I’ll try to throw out some thoughts:
vs Guy. Not much to say here, I’d mostly recommend practicing your corner pressure, mixups and combos, you did the right things IMO, but you dropped your execution at points.
vs Chun-Li. Any reason you’re throwing mid fireball instead of low? I personally prefer low, since if you throw mid’s, Chun can walk behind her own kikoken and poke after they neutralize each other.
vs Dudley. More anti-airs, he was jumping a lot and getting away with it.
Overall, I felt you could’ve gone for corner pressure more, you didn’t try to corner your opponents actively.
maybe on that one occasion i used mid more than the others, i dont pay much attention to whether or not im throwing lows or mids i just do what feels right at the time partly as well i get this stigma of holding the low at inconvienient times, if they somehow get in on me i dont want to hold a low fireball and then not be able to tech a grab. Corner pressure often means closing in on them, Chun and Duderz are those kind of characters where id rather zone them out than risk eating a reversal and doing the stupid guessing game on the next mixup. Although im very fine with pushing on Guy, hes easy wakeup pressure and even easier to hit out of the air.
Well. If it felt right at the time and it didn’t work out for you, you should re evaluate why you thought it felt right. Heh.
I watched them, oni akuma’s ultras are so cool. I wish Juri had something more over the top like those ultras.
I wasn’t against Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma/Oni being in the game, but I wasn’t expecting much from them. When I actually saw them, especially their Ultras, I was like WTF lol. If they become available for console, I’m picking them up for sure, their Ultras are so over the top it’s unbelievable. Too sick.
Anyway, MetallMike, was watching that Dudley fight, I wonder if Juri would have enough time for a cr.mk attempt underneath Dudley’s duck then straight move…
I remember posting something a while back about some badass move Juri does in the OVA.
Basically, ki starts flowing around her from the Feng Shui Engine until the buildup of ki is too much, then it all gets released upwards in a tornado like fashion. heres the vid: (skip to around the 6:55 mark) would look totally badass in the game, the hand gestures she does earlier look pretty sick as well.
Seeing as Fei Long is the topic of interest in the matchup section, i just stumbled upon this video:

enjoy.
My god thank you for this vid! god i hate fei’s so much! By far my worst match up. He can really stuff Juri hard. I love the fuhajin use by that juri. Lots of high fuhajins to stuff any jump in and chicken wing. I like in the first round how the juri player used j. fp to safe jump in that match. I just gotta study this vid hard so i can get over this fei hump that’s been plaguing me lately.

Meh.

Second match was terrible lol. Kept dropping links, or doing links too quickly and get something random, like sweep. Kept getting nailed by EX CoD and whenever I got knocked down…
Unfortunately, I forgot all about st.mk being airborne and using it to escape throws, or just use instant Shikusen. However, the reason I was teching was because not many Abels use regular throw, but Tornado Throws are risky because if they miss, they get punished. So, I assumed that Murasaki would use regular throws to throw me off, but that was not the case.
Nah you played solid man, all in all considering its Abel. Also dropping links on PSN is totally understandable lol. Aside from the 1 framers you still got all your BnBs in and played a solid poking and footsie game.
i dont mean to shit on your parade or anything, but that abel didnt seem like he knew the Juri matchup, and didnt seem very solid overall.
other than HIM making mistakes, you played solid. nice use of fuhajins / poking. good stuff.
Thanks guys!
And nah, there aren’t a lot of Juri players, so yeah, I agree, he was probably unfamiliar with the match-up. In fact, not many players are familiar with Juri. I’m planning to give my guys more pointers on the Juri MU.
I take that to my advantage Ryuga. I go to a tournament and instantly don’t fail because nobody knows what I’m doing.
Then they realize that I’m free to any kind of tick throw because I REFUSE to crouch tech. Then I lose. Lol.
^
LOL!
IMO, not crouch teching can sometimes be a good thing. Leaves you less open to counter hit set-ups and traps. Sometimes it’s best to eat a throw and sometimes, it’s good to go for tech attempts.
Watched the rest of that Abel match (in that guys channel), pretty nice, you played very solid. He really liked to tornado throw you lol. One thing that came to mind was, you baited a TT a few times and neutral jumped it, but punished with nj.HK, cr.MK, EX Pin. Its always easy to say in hindsight, but wouldn’t nj.HK, Ultra 2 or EX DK, Ultra 2 have been a lot better punishes, especially when you had full revenge meter.
And I’ll agree with people not knowing the Juri matchup, from watching Ed Ma at WCW3 and what not, my impression is that most people have no idea about what to expect from Juri, beyond the very basics. And that makes sense, I don’t pay special attention to eg. Hakan match up or Dan matchup, since I’ve never fought one that I lost to, yet.
