Purple Eyes Only: Juri Video Thread (Updated: 9-28-10)

wow flip champ did not let ed get in, i liked how master ed ma played though, cancelling that cr.strong into another strong was nice, hes got that kara thrown down though, something i still need to work on.

You know, i hate the fact that everyone thinks Juri is free…

announcers dont know shit about Juri, AND…ed ma isn’t doing anything special…hes just a GOOD player.

Infact in that match there was a lot of things I saw ed ma do that I went “…well thats silly”.

Am I the only juri that thinks after a throw vs people with poor defense to always store 2 fireballs?

Shoryuken - Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition - Video from Capcom Blog

There’s some Juri action in the last video. Don’t know about the rest.

Agreed. Somebody should get on the mic in one of these streamed events and tell them how it is.

Something seemed off about that play by ed ma. There were times where he didn’t press hard on F.Champ shim in the corner. Didn’t ex pinwheel or ex dodge the ultra. I think in the first round of the second set or the second round of the first set. Didn’t ex dodge the fireball. Other then that, the announcers were speaking out of their ass about Juri. Other then that, it’s nice to see a Juri player reach top 8, grats to ed ma once again.

Juri players don’t even know half the shit. I’m trying to help this guy up his juri. It blew his mind when he saw me kasacancel. He also didn’t know about her Kara throw.

So much shit man.

But yea… Why don’t more juris store 2 fireballs ?

What do you usually do after storing two? The medium and heavy ones can be crouched under, so I don’t find them very useful for corner pressure. The light version by itself is amazing for frame trap/throw mix-ups, so that’s what I use.

As soon as it’s done processing I’ll post a video up of some stuff that I haven’t seen on these forums.

I think I found some new shit with Juri. Or, I found something that I just haven’t seen anywhere.

Either way, I found it by accident.

Sorry about the length, my sony Vegas decided that it doesn’t want to open anymore and I’ve got to reinstall it.

Long combo is long.

There you go. It was new to me, so I figured it would be new to somebody else as well. My thoughts on this combo: It’s hard as fuck. It’s the tightest link Juri has. Even harder than 2x standing light kick to crouching - MK/MP. It’s not about slamming it out as quickly as possible either. And I’m not 100% on the execution as I’ve only managed to squeak it out a handful of times since discovering that you could cancel her standing far LK into specials today.

Medium can be used as bait for an overhead, it’s a pretty slow mixup but people get hit by that stuff sometimes. Then after this overhead lands you can release the low one during the animation so you lose the store and go for a kara-throw or something else. Just be sure you’re not playing against a mashaholic. I’ve done some leveling up and some independent study over the last few months, which is why you haven’t been seeing much of me lately.

Did you not see the whole video on hit confirming the mid?

Essentially, you wanna throw the low first, and hit confirm the mid. If the low is blocked, you release the fireball silently. Something like

c.mk xx release low > walk back slightly > far mp xx release high.

You cant release the mid from far mp, so you have access to your mid kick again, and you gave up nothing for trying it.

c.mk xx release low > nj.hk > release mid > Maintain pressure

c.mk xx release low > release mid > Sekku.

If you release mid right after low during the recovery of the move it wont come out and you can maintain pressure.

If it does hit, you c.mk xx release low > c.hp xx release mid > c.mk xx hk pinwheel.

This combo doesnt work on everyone but you have options. It works vs most of the cast I believe although I will have to test it. THe point is, you maintain crazy pressure in the corner with the possibility of huge damage/stun. And if they block it you should be able to avoid being punished hard by silent releasing the fireballs

far.MP being super cancelable was new to me. I actually didn’t realize you could link far.LK after cr.LK, but far.LK being special cancelable I knew about, I use far.LK xx EX Fuhajin as a footsie tool sometimes, it hits from further than cr.MK on standing opponents, and its a bit faster so stuffs some things. Anyway, cr.LK to far.LK is 1f link, so much rather cancel straight from cr.LK or do the cl.LK, cr.MP link instead.

I assumed that far.lk wasn’t special cancellable but that proved me wrong, need to give an apology to somebody for spreading misinformation lol.

i usually have 2 stored …
one thing i like doing is this …
in mid screen … i would jump mk or hk (depends on which im holding) then cr.MP into LK fuhajin… then just release the other fuhajin … its rediculous how many people try to jump or anti air and that 2nd one stuffs them all the time … and if they somehow managed to magicly escape it with their jump u have enough time for an anti air and even follow it up with a reset. and if they dont jump and worry with a crouch u can jump in for (somewhat) free. unless they have an EX then u bait it out … theres so much to it.

(i would recommend practicing doing EX pinwheel with LK and HK. if u play a shoto and they whiff out an EX uppercut u can go cr.HP into into EX pinweel and then release the MK to force them to stay down… its nice keeping pressure from far … i blame dhalsim for this … lol)

i do this especially with characters that get hit box pushes and you cant consistantly link in another cr.MK for followups like seth, abel and cody… etc … their push backs put u at a safe distance to bait out crap like that …

Fun all around. Got some accidental Mooning, me getting really angry against a guy player, and voice cracking urging to juri players about corner fuhajin usage.

Part 3 has just what we were talking about. I essentially lost a perfect chance to take a lot of damage because I didn’t do the combo above correctly.

Tell me why you guys think.

Solid tactic with having a mid stored before a jumpin to lk store blockstring. As for the expinwheel, This is the reason why i urge people to use ultra buttons with Juri, you can always get Expinwheel out without having to think to much on where to press.

I use it all day for kasacancels. I only do ex pin cancel and ex low cancel anyways. Works out well

Dude, practice your FSE combos. It’s painful to watch you screw it up over and over again.

My nerves get to me. I’m so anxious to see a reversal that I cut them short or I get d, f mk instead of a c mp, f+mk.

I don’t like to just press buttons until I reach the end. I try and have deliberate quick combos unless I see a hit.

Oi, its one of those things that I practice often and then drop them in a match all the time.

is there a way to turn off player names being displayed in replays, ill post up some of my matchs if theres a way to get rid of the names. Dont want to put anyone on blast lol.

You can’t. But you could censor the names in a video editor or something.

I don’t think the names show up if you’re not connected to the internet while watching.
