Purple Eyes Only: Juri Video Thread (Updated: 9-28-10)

Hey Emp Cow enjoy your vid. I might as well spill the beans on what i discovered while in the lab. I love ultra II and the many set up it has…

  1. Ex Low Fuhajin>fadc Your timing is key> Ultra II
  2. In the air…Mp>Fa lvl 1> Ultra II (Damage output is 390 at most)
  3. Close FP> Ex low Fuhajin (Be sure it juggles the opponent into the corner)> Fadc (Just in case)> Ultra II
  4. J Mp.> Ex low Fuhajin (make sure you do your ex fuhajin as soon as you are on the ground.)> Fadc> Ultra II
  5. (Hey can someone test out the timing of this…it’s pretty wacky…) J mp> lk pinwheel> Ultra II (For some reason it hits sometimes, other times it just doesn’t hit. It’s strange, but this can only be done in the corner.)
  6. J mp.> Lk Fuhajin stock> Fadc> Ultra II (You can also do this in the corner without an fadc. As soon as the fireball hits do ultra II and you will land it.)
So there you have it Juri community. I was hoping to save these and whip them out at a tourney, but to be honest i’m a okay player at best. I haven’t landed any of these in any online or live matches yet. Still trying to practice them in the lab. Try them out. Lemme know if you guys come up with anything else. Thanks and good luck!

I’m not K1 lol, but I would advise against using LK Pinwheel outside of combos altogether. I said it 1000x but, if someone crouch blocks it, it becomes more punishable, enough for a very big punish, in some cases, a raw Ultra with reversal timing, regardless of how you space it.

But generally, do not do this against:

-Anyone with a fast standing or crouching jab, example, Rog.

  • When certain characters have super ready(Viper, Ryu, Chun Li, ect.)

those are pretty nice ! i need to test them out myself to get a universal timing and such, but would you mind if i added some of those to a follow up vid im making ? ofcourse i would mention your name in the vid just like i did with kail.

update: i was testing these out. man these are fricken hard… im not sure some of them work :S (could be wrong) !!!
i couldnt get the 1st 1 to work AT ALL!! … not even in the corner, same with everything that ends with an EX low fuhajin, i keep getting the oponent too far for my ultra to connect even if i get him between fireball bounces, i even tried to make the last bounce in the corner so i can garantee it and it still wouldnt connect. i liked setups 2 and 6 alot (especially 6 in the corner)

and about the pinwheel one (no.5), it wouldnt work with the setup you have because you cant combo after the 2nd hit of an LK senpusha in the air, it has to be FADCed from the 1st hit. so the setup would be like this: jf.MP, LK senpusha, FADC, ultra 2 … it also works midscreen but its really messed up because you end up changing direction (i dont like depending too much on auto corrects but the setup DOES work mid screen lol)… its alot easier to land in the corner though.

Mmh, to beat a dead horse: I’m personally of the mind that you should play your opponent. LK Pinwheel is kind of quick and hard to react to for intermediate players (especially online). Just don’t try to sneak one on Daigo.

To give you an idea of how punishable it is, here’s some example punishes characters can do if they crouch block it, off the top of my head:
-Juri: EX Pinwheel punishes, LK Pinwheel xx Super works too
-Chun-Li: Ultra1, Super, EX Spinning Bird Kick, cr.HP xx legs loop
-Makoto: Ultra1, possibly EX Karakusa to punish combo
-Guile: Flash Kick
-Shotos: Shoryuken (FADC Ultra)
-Viper: HP Thunder Knuckle (I guess)

I would imagine every character can punish it (would actually be interesting to know if there are any that can’t?). So yeah, play your opponent, I wouldn’t drop the move altogether from my arsenal, as its relatively fast and not too easy to react to, but just realize the kind of risk you’re taking when throwing it out.

You can’t ultra off a juggled low fuhajin release… Ex or regular. You can however hit only the rising hits and not full animation. Oh shit. Bet you guys didn’t know that!!! Ha. I’m playing.

Only a few characters it works on. You gotta hold the fa for just a hair.

i have a match from yesterday. it has some Juri matches in it.

The ex low kick one try to distance it out. like you have to fadc and be right in their face just as the fireball is coming and then hit ultra two. No. 5 is strange it’s just out there. I’ll try to put some vids of me doing it. Please make a vid of it, i’m flattered that you would ^^;;; i just had a lot of time to fool around with Juri. Imo i like number 6.

The ex version is sometime funky. It all depends on timing. Like i see the person doing it just as the second juggle is about to occur. The thing about it is. Once the second fireball hits it knocks them in place for ultra II, but to fully hit the ultra you have to be right on them like literally so that when they fly back the kaisen will pull the into it. Getting it at the tip of the ultra will cause this glitch. Tbh, fp>ex fireball isn’t as reliable. There are much better options for Ultra II.

EX low xx FADC > U2 (1st hit) is only possible if it creates a bounce and the 2nd Fuhajin didn’t hit before U2. Not really practical since you can’t hitconfirm. Can’t get 1st hit with cl.HP because it adds a JP before EX low.
You can set it up midscreen with backthrow > meaty EX low FADC U2 for example, but I don’t think that’s hitconfirmable and it’s 3bars likely wasted on guard…

About anti-airing with lk Senpusha (or after j.mp, same juggle situation), if you time it correctly it will hit once (2nd hit), making it possible to connect U2 after it without FADC, midscreen needs good spacing, and also possible on 1st hit trades sometimes iirc. You can also EX Fuhajin after it if it hit twice, or EX Senpusha if it hit once.

Regarding meaty Fuhajin mid, if it hits you can combo with j.hk, dash>cr.mk(I use this often, easy to hitconfirm), dash>sekku when it’s spaced like with store(knockdown)>release.

With a MK Stored, after Senpusha hk/EX you can dash > release Fuzzy.
After blocked MK Store, Instant Divekick (hitconfirm)> EX Senpusha > dash > release Fuzzy.
These setups should be easier to use in AE, if store hits it simply replaces the divekick.

I tried to find setups where I could use EX Fuhajin low meaty, but some of them I couldn’t hit EX low deep enough to dash after it and be at frame advantage.
Sweep/backthrow>EX low>dash seems to put us at frame advantage.
HKSenpusha>dash>EX low>dash seems to put us at a few frames of disadvantage.

With Viper, she can actually punish harder than that. Tested them and here they are:

  1. cr.hp(tight.) So that means normals like cr.mk as well.
  2. Super
  3. Ultra(if close enough)
  4. cr.mp(if close enough)

Ideally, it’s going to be cr.mk.

Juri: cr.mk into whatever.

Yeah, if your opponent doesn’t know, then it’s fine I guess. But personally, I don’t make a habit of it, in fear that once people finally clock on to this, they will not miss an opportunity to punish you.

I appreciate the fact that youre so open to constructive criticism. A lot of people arent. Big ups for that.

To answer your question…everyone else got to it before me lol. I dont throw out pins unless theyre in a combo. I guess i just like to try and play it safe with them. Especially not vs anyone with a 3 frame normal because most of the time that character (whoever it may be) can combo hardcore from a simple 3 frame normal. Examples:

Chun: cr.lk x 2 > EX Legs > possible ultra
Rog: you already know lol
Dudley: cr.lp x 2 ~ st.hk xx EX MGB > whatever

anyways…yeah. everyone already answered the question lol

@Emperor Cow

Sorry if what i had said about your video came off as harsh. I only watched the first video by the way because i was dead ass tired at 4 am lol. The second video sounds good. Ill take a look at it when i get home

You in theory can link ex fuhajins to ultra 2. It’s not impossible due to juggle points. What is the problem is height of juggle and keeping your opponent in the air during it’s active frames.

That’s why the Kaisen glitch works. It splits the fireballs so they are in the air during the kaisen. Otherwise they fall too fast. It glitches due to the hitbox falling off an not being able to go into the last cinematic hit.

I was in the lab fooling around with it again. I hit them up ex fuhajin the dummy is in juggle state i fadc and do my ultra. What i found strange was as soon as i activated my ultra connects, but the second fuhajin also hits and negates the whole ultra, thus causing a huge whiff. Timing is so key to nailing it. Do it too early and you will glitch and whiff. Do it too late and nothing happens. The best way to do this combination is in the corner. Because the corner negates the glitch and the ultra animation continues, but you can see it that the animation isn’t clean.

I see what you mean. I see that jmp low fuha fadc does work. I think I knew that but dismissed it as 2 bars and gotta have s fuha stored and gotta win air to air. Pretty cool. I feel stupid.

The ex does work but timing is key. It works pushed into the corner. The person must not travel back buy in the corner it whiffs.

Oh hey, don’t say your dumb. I just recently found this out. I’m actually glad i shared with you all. Hopefully you can show and amaze some people with these set up. All you gotta do now is practice it. To be honest, i doubt i can find any other set-up for Ultra II. The other ones i am working on are ridiculously hard such as ex dive kick> ex Fuhajin low>fadc> Ultra II. I’m just curious to see how much damage it does or if it even works.

(((UPDATE)))
Thought I’d come and post my final findings on a few of the moves. J.mp> ex low Fuhajin> fadc> Ultra II glitches when not in the corner. Timing is too demanding to use this in a match. Hey Emp cow you can also do two J.Mp> Low stock fuhajin> Fadc> Ultra II. Damage isn’t that much, but still pretty nice to pull off. Other then that, i think that’s all the Ultra II options out there. The one i talked about doing earlier today was impossible. Like you can all try it out but from what i observed you need to beat the second fuhajin which we all know causes the funny glitch. Even so, i don’t think it works.

It glitches because of the distance and the hitbox falling off. You see it’s not a matter of getting one hit, it’s also a matter of keeping your opponent high enough to reach the final hit. Her hitbox is quite brilliant. They didn’t wanna make it op so they made like a million hits that are non cinematic. They all gotta hit right or you won’t get full damage.

I just wish we could do sc hp > low fuhajin. That would be a ultra setup. Then again fuhajin store > release > ultra 2 don’t work in ae so whatever.

I think sc.HP > low fuha is likely to work in AE. It won’t be an ultra setup though, because the fuhajin puts you at JP2, so Ultra won’t connect. Same reason why store > release FADC U2 won’t work.

I found both these videos you made extremely helpful. Its nice to have a guide that shows the basic links first and the complicated ones later. I’m really liking these low EX Fuhajins into EX pinwheel, it looks like it does nice damage and its so simple to perform. Though I don’t really understand the meaties, wouldn’t the opponent just guard them anyways

Also really nice job on the ultra 2 set ups, the only one I knew was EX dive kick into ultra 2 lol

DJ Divine so close to double P’ing on Valle. Juri’s frame trap game is dangerous.
