i believe i was featured on this stream yesterday

but unfortunately, i only used juri twice. but funny thing is, i didn’t acquire any wins until i used her. i’ll be back on stream hopefully tonight. this time i’ll rep her 100%. btw, my 2 juri matchs should be near the end of the stream. so please criticise.

My Juri… she’s a work in progress. I got 1337 player points when doing ranked with Bison and it looks awesome, so I quit ranked. I only have 50 bp with Juri and it’s pretty funny because some players think I’m some scrub then I play decently. My Juri isn’t fancy but neither is my Bison, I win through spacing and reads, I also like poking. I only had my stick for about a month now (and got SSF4 in July, never played vannila) so im still learning. I dropped Chun for Juri because the transition from pad to stick hurt my Chun, I can’t stand her on stick but Juri feels great. I use pink Juri (and Bison) because it’s my favorite color. I’m not weird, I’m a girl lol. Any feedback or advice is welcomed, thanks.

I thought you played really well. The only thing that seemed a bit strange to me was how often you were using that far s.HK against Gen. It seemed to be working fine, though.

Same, think you did well against Red too. Defence was tight, didn’t make it easy for him to get started and you won. :slight_smile:

You have a pretty solid Juri going on there but heres a few general pointers based on my own experince from what I saw in the videos;

  • Learn to use c.mp and c.fp, they’re her best anti air moves. I saw quite a few situations where one of those moves could have being used and you didn’t use them.

  • Be more willing to play fireball wars to keep characters out. One thing I like about Juri is that I can be very offensive in 1 type of match and turtle in another type of match. Based on my experience against another decent Fei - Long, fireball wars can be handy against him.

I can also tell you that Fireball wars are unsafe against Abel, mainly because of his roll.

  • Ex-pinwheel isn’t the get out of jail card its made out to be. Hell, I’m guilty of overusing it myself.

Just my two cents, take aboard what you want.

Just some general advice for you:

  1. Your poking game seems to be developing nicely, keep working on it!
  2. Overall, try learning some easy combos so you can do them every time, like for some examples

    Just try them out in training mode.
  3. Anti air. use c.MP or c.HP to anti-air opponents when they jump-in on you.
  4. You should stop the random pinwheels - pinwheel should only be used when you’re sure its not blocked eg. off a hit confirm combo or as punish (a good player will punish you for over 1/5 of your life every time they block it). Instead I would look at storing a light kick fireball and doing combos from that (eg. c.mk, release fireball)
  5. You block pretty well, you should keep practicing this. Often its better to block and punish, than to do moves.

thnx for the feedback guys. and DR i usually use far ST HK to gain a little ground as well as using it as a poke. i do stop once my opponent wise up and focus it tho. but ppl never focus it which is odd. but thnx for the feedback. i think i’ll tone down on far ST HK usage.

About the anti airs… you’re right I need to use them more. The timing is awkward to me and I need to get use to it. I usually do it too early and I get punished. I’ll have to fix that.

BTW is Juri’s counter move any good? I never used it because I don’t understand how to utilize it yet. Is it worth learning?

You should definitely learn to do combos, since it’s a pretty essential skill. In general, Senpusha should mainly be a combo tool, and doing it randomly can get you punished hard. The EX version is pretty good if you get a good read, but it’s usually not worth the risk. Also, when you do a forward throw, move forward so you can pressure the opponent and push them towards the corner. There’s some other stuff I could mention, but since you’re a new player, I think these are the main things you should be focusing on.

It can be useful. The light version is good for getting out of corners. The medium version can make some space between you and your opponent, but it’s probably the least useful one overall. The heavy version is cool because it can be used offensively, by following up with something like a Shikusen or nj.HK. The EX version is actually her best reversal, with only a 1-frame startup. It can be directed five ways, so it can be used like any of the other versions, with some added utility from the diagonals. Holding up-forward allows you to do a cross-up nj.HK, which catches a lot of people off-guard.

Frankly more juri’s need to stop rushing down 24/7. Theres nothing wrong with just sitting back sometimes and anti-airing. Her anti-air options are so damn good, that its a crime not to. not only that, but it puts the opponent in a reset that causes them to guess on so many levels.

c.mp can be cancelled into a fuhajin low/mid/high store. After this you can choose to jump in ambiguously, release it meaty, dash up, overhead, or just block their silly reversals. You can release a fireball fadc into a 50/50 after this. throw, option select st.mk/throw, dash forward, jump straight up for a fuzzy guard setup, hit confirm a combo…

ALSO, after an anti air its a free FSE activation for even more aggression.

You need to sit back and fuhajin more and make your opponent do something stupid.

Her counter is situational. I wouldnt use it against a good player. I dont think I’ve ever caught karakusa sleeping. I get sweeped EVERYTIME. And that shows you how easy it is to spot a lp counter. Her best one is easily her EX with a diagnal jump path. And even still shit is easily beaten. Her MP one is very good for escaping and I find it hard to punish that on reaction unless in a corner.

Her counter can be armored cancelled into Ultra/super/ex fuhajin/ex sempusha, which is not bad to be honest, but risky, and gimmicky.

I suggest using her counter in situations where your opponent is clearly just retardedly forgetting your options. Example a silly ryu player thinking he could EX Srk you to chip you out, or ultra you from half screen to chip you.

I personally like to use it in fireball wars. I like to make some feel like they can beat me in a fireball war and use it to keep the mix up going. Play around with it, you’ll find a rhythm and timing for it.

You would activate FSE after an anti-air? I can’t see that being effective at all.

yeah i certainly need to learn bnbs. I know what they are it’s just canceling is so new to me. I know how to do bnbs/cancel into sk with Bison, but it’s a motion… like a different sense. If someone asked me to put it into words I’d be unable to. How do you do it with Juri’s pinwheel motion it’s different because its not charge. I did it before… but it was always on accident. I could mess around in training mode, that’s how I figured out how to do Bison’s 5/7 hit stuff.

Not saying you should, but learn how to. It’s a tool that’s Just crazy good with juri. Some characters just have a nightmare of a time vs the purple rain, ya feel me? What’s makoto gonna do vs two fireballs on screen at once plus a 2 hit one on will that kd? What’s Blanka gonna do? Hell, even lord bison has to take a risk to get in. Fuck a cat named barlog! He builds no meter, keep him back.

You can keep up fireball wise with everyone and usually win due to dive kicks and kick and releae nature of fuhajin. Don’t do it vs sagat, guile or rose, but everyone else, please.

Now even if you don’t camp, you can advance with this. Furthermore. It’s just frustrating. Lol.

As for bnb. I don’t get your question. Use lks and lps to create a string and end on a pinwheel. Pinwheel combos with a normal one level weaker. I mean mk combos with light kick, but hk pinwheel does not. You gotta use mk or mp for hk.

FSE moves Juri forward, and has a small window of invincibility. So at certain situations, random FSE can help you out :tup:
