The Rufus matchup is pretty stupid atm. His ridiculous divekick pressure is too strong =\ Once that gets nerfed with the arcade release though, we’ll have a really good chance to go toe-to-toe. If you can zone your Rufus, that’s the safer and more solid plan. Definitely Ultra 2 in this matchup.
Also, Juri is unlike other characters 'cause the risk vs reward is in her favor air wise. She has a dive kick that breaks focus, a j.Strong that leads to really good damage and an ambiguous j.Fierce. Not to mention her nj.Roundhouse is pretty gdlk also. I feel that Juri is one of those characters that can jump often and get away with it. That is until you eat massive damage from DPs =P But that’s why you mix it up with IA Dive Kicks =)
Yeah I’ve noticed that with those options, I get away with jumping a surprising amount of times. j.faps seems to beat or trade with a lot of AA normals, too(don’t recall ever trading in Juri mirrors, beat AA clean). nj.RH is pretty gdlk indeed; I love throwing it out vs Viper especially, Vega too, to beat reversals, bait reversals, j.mp fuzzy guard, whatever; don’t think either can really do anything about it.
Good point about her jump-ins. I’ll try mixing in dives to bait out AAs next time, which is something I should have been doing from time but there we go LOL.
I screwed up a lot, there’s a lot I need to work on atm. But hopefully I’ll be able to sort it out. Lost to the same Rufus again lol. I actually beat him afterwards, but I didn’t like the way that match went, so I only uploaded the loss.
Just learned some new stuff last night, against Rufus: Juri can use c.Strong xx Fuhajin block strings in the corner and Rufus can’t do anything to get out just like everyone else without a strong reversal =P If he tries to jump away, c.MP stuffs; If he EX.Messiah kicks, it’ll sail over Juri after hitting her like 1-2 times, then he’s free to punish with U2 or EX.Senpusha. I kept missing short.Dive Kick -> Ultra but I did manage to land roundhouse.Dive Kick -> Ultra (FML that fat ass floats so far away… maybe forward.Dive Kick will work, will confirm later).
Those matches were a lot more impressive than the last batch, so I’d say you made some pretty quick progression. sigh wish I could say the same thing about my own play.
Props on going for the close LK, c.MP link. I personally try to go to c.LK cus the window is so much bigger. The one time you FADC’d the senpusha, was that on reaction to the missed link/block? Or were you going to FADC regardless? Again, props for going for the FADC Ultra2. I really don’t like the timing on this either, way too tight and fickle for my liking. You could go for c.MP x Senpusha instead and save your Ultra2 for punishes? I dunno… personal preference probably.
Crossup j.LK leaves a pretty big hole on block, and you were doing it kinda shallow. Unless it hits crouching or counterhit, comboing after is gonna be hard, so if you do it deeper you have more chance of a gauranteed combo afterwards. I’ve gotten thrown and DP’d in that small gap between j.LK and the followup, so I mix it up with j.LK (short wait) straight into throw, as opposed to a c.LK and THEN throw. The short wait while holding back covers my ass if they DP, however if their timing is off and they DP late you can still get caught. Wouldn’t work against Rufus cus EX Messiah has such a slow startup that you’d have to wait very long. It may be a bit over the top, but ideally I would go for j.MK at those ranges where I know it will connect. It has worse crossup hitboxes than j.LK but the extra blockstun is worth it IMO.
It’s been a while since I’ve played a Rufus with Juri, but I think crouch teching with c.LP+LK+MP would option select cover you if they rejump>divekick. Either that or +HP, but it’s slower.
EX Senpusha is a better wakeup reversal than EX counter in many situations imo. Senpusha at least covers you if they go straight for a throw or neutral jump early and land on top of the still active cartwheel. I’d save EX counter for matchups/characters/players that like going for ambiguous crossups. It can really save your ass then.
Haha, thanks, I’ve been really trying to improve with this character but…I dunno…
Yeah, I saw that I dropped my link, so I FADC’d that on reaction. And I do agree, I really need to work on my j.lk cross-up deepness, because lately, I’ve been getting DP’d all the time lol.
I usually land that FADC>Ultra 2 lol, that guy’s connection usually shifts around. In this case, I felt I needed to end the match quickly and I decided to go for max damage, but looking back, yeah, I should have just combo’d into something really. It wouldn’t have killed him anyway.
I was thinking about crouch teching with cr.mp, once, I tried teching with cr.hp and got blown up. I would use it sparingly though, because Doofus(and other chars like Cammy) could probably get some CH damage with a bait or trap or something like that.
I’ve really been put off by EX Senpusha to the point where I don’t even use it as a reversal anymore. But I do agree that using it would have been helpful in the match. But not when’s he got Ultra though lol, if I miss, I eat Space Opera Symphony. I really did mess up with the counters, those were accidents, and weren’t supposed to happen.
I need someone to see how my game is progressing >.>
I manage to use well Juri for many situations, but I fell that I still lack in executuion of some combos. Can anyone fight me to see how I’m doing ?
1.Hey just get the damage I seen a bunch of times you did c.mk fireball. Just do c.mk into senpusha.
2. Dont jump with bison head stomp rapes everything.
3. If you stun someone do a more damaging combo.
4. If you have health lead just sit on it because if you start rushing down you will get hit by some random shit and lose the round.
5. lol you got lucky vs bison
6. Dont back yourself in a corner vs gief.
7. Becareful of mashers. you need to space yourself right vs gief.
8. Please learn to block.
9. Stop trying to jump out the corner
10. Get your punishment down.
All in all your more than likely a better Juri than me. Just work on your defense you cant just nervous when people are putting pressure on you. If you want we can play sometime
