Seeing this on the news made me pause and take 5 minutes. There really are no words to accompany something like this. I just hope planet earth gets it’s act together for 2013. But we hope for that every year don’t we.

This type of crap always gets skewed until the doctors start releasing death certificates. You can’t blame them too much on that part since numbers are always sketchy especially in the first early reports. But the whole shooter identity debacle is just lazy reporting.

@SaikoStyle IMO: It’s because we live in a society that doesn’t have to worry about the NY shooting missiles at NJ because of the border. Yes, we deal with violence, but, not to this scale on a daily basis. While the Middle East gets fucked in every available orifice and even some made, American’s aren’t use to these sorts of “mass” tragedies. Not to say those that live over there want to be deal with it, of course, but there’s a difference in culture. We fight mass wars over social media/news.
Americans have put themselves in an microcosm of ignorance and only are pushed out when things of these caliber occur. Then once the initial wave of that come and goes, it’ll be back to business as usual.

it means that we have a disproportionate amount of guns in our country compared with others when you compare for populations, that’s more guns potentially falling into the hands of someone other than a responsible gun owner. i never said that almost the entire population of the US owns guns…
