I don’t think anyone is avoiding it, it just never came up.
This only makes sense if you suggest a hard distinction between “determined” (i.e. would execute a mass shooting with anything, however meager) and “not determined” (i.e. would not execute a mass shooting no matter what was available). This is so plainly, obviously, utterly not true.
The argument that keeps coming up is that banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines will mitigate the issue.
The counter-argument that keeps coming up seems to be that anything that doesn’t 100% solve the issue isn’t worth implementing. Again–plainly, obviously, utterly not true.

Thirty-two minutes? Fuck you.
32 minutes is an awful long time to say “It wasn’t videogames, you ninny”
most of it is showing examples via clips of people going overboard with their claims mostly from fox news and a clip of kid on xboxlive making fun of the victims/kids.
but the time is more important than the subject so whatever. just putting it out there. can’t make you horses drink nor is that my purpose.
You’re making an assumption that my statement is a counter-argument. It’s not. It’s merely a statement illustrating that more comprehensive change must be made to stop mass shootings. The impact of banning high capacity magazines and assault rifles is overstated More sweeping changes must be made. As I stated 44 rounds is more than enough for a mass shooting however bringing up this point for whatever reason causes people to label me as if I’m against these suggestions. I’m not against them however the reality is that if these are the only changes the public will have a false sense of security which would be a disservice to the American public. Off the top of my head i can think of things that would make an impact. A two key system for magazines would slow down the rate at which someone could change magazines. I have yet to hear any politicians that have suggested this. I can list other measures that can be implemented. Multiple changes must occur to have a significant impact.

California, called the bullet button.
I think that it should require two. That and perhaps some sort of interaction required between shots which would put down on the speed that a semi auto can fire.

I just checked out a gun auction site and someone is selling a 10 pack of pmag 30 round magazines for 800 bucks with 44 bids so far!
I have 15 pmags. I think it may be time to cash in. $$$
They already require that you lower the weapon, and insert a long pin to eject it placed in an awkward position to eject it, there’s others where you have to put the weapon on your leg to do it. Any more and that means drilling holes.
In order to slow down the weapon, you really need to design a whole new piston system, which nobody is going to do. If you do that though, its no longer a semi-automatic firearm, and would have to be chambered shot by shot akin to bolt action.
Not gonna lie, here in Brooklyn you have blacks and hispanics die every single day. You got wars like bloods vs crips, latin kings vs ms13, etc. People get killed daily like it’s nothing and no one cares, but the moment a white female gets killed it’s all over the news like OH MY GAWD WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO. Next thing you know white people will start buying bullet proof vests for their kids.
sorry, too late
This is probably the reaction normal people have:
You know what…Chris Rock may have joked about it but dammit, I’d be down for something like this.

One of the things I have a problem with is that it takes less effort to buy a gun than it does to get a driver’s licence. It’s like… I just walk into a store, buy the gun wait 5 days and then go pick it up (if I’m doing it through normal legal channels). To drive a car you have to take a written test, and prove that you can drive. I don’t follow politics much, so call me idealistic but couldn’t this be an opportunity to create some jobs, and attempt to change the way (some) people treat, and think about guns? What about making people have to pay taxes, take written tests, and a proficiency test in order to own a gun? Hell make it part of the DMV for all I care.
Whenever I see the topic of gun control come up it seems like folks tend to talk about the extremes; gangs, drug cartels, and hicks. Nothing can be done about them. It’s the other people who don’t know how and when to clean guns, or whose kids get a hold of them and shoot themselves, or just don’t even know what it feels like to shoot one that need to be addressed.
As for the guys who go on rampages it’d be interesting to have some data on where they get their guns. Something tells me they aren’t going to a port somewhere late at night to pick them up from gun runners.
Tetris caused this. Fucking blue and yellow squares. Ban Russia.
I picked up two aluminum magazines for $18 each. Pmags were sold out everywhere i checked. As at ARs.
