This is going to make some of you very mad: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/research/hicrc/firearms-research/guns-and-death/index.html

Too bad the media wants hits more than actually fucking stopping the killer from gaining any attention.
Sounds like common sense to me. Not sure why anyone would get mad at the fact that guns make death easier to achieve. Hell they even make sex easier, and by sex I mean rape.
I’ve been looking for a sub2000 that takes block magazines just so i can justify buying a 30 round glock magazine.
sent from my Sprint Galaxy Nexus on PPC
Laughable in just about every way. Will respond in depth after my meeting.
I would wager everything I own that more people are shot with handguns and more common weapons than with the higher-powered/sundry weapons people are talking about wanting to ban.
What would banning these things do, other than make people feel better? Or is it better to take away the rights of a few innocent people to soothe the fears of the ignorant (in this regard) masses?
I am pretty sure all they found on the guy was a glock and a sig sauer, both 9mm pistols. A 9mm won’t penetrate a “bullet proof” vest. The gun he didn’t use probably would have. Just remember, he didn’t use an assault rifle to cause this carnage. So banning them would do very little(I am also not saying the average person needs one for home defence). Keeping mentally disabled people from obtaining firearms should be what we strive for. When this kids mom went to buy these guns at a gun store or gun show, do you think the fact that she had a mentally disabled kid showed up on her backround checks(assuming she even went through any, don’t know other states gun laws)? Also 3d printing a gun wont happen lol, unless you want to hold a hand grenade when it goes off.
Actually, I heard from a friend about some guy that made one from a 3d printer. Upon a quick google search, here’s an article:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/wiki-weapons-conducts-first-live-test-for-3d-printed-gun/
well ive reached my end. the convo is not what it should be as we all knew it wouldnt. i came in late, and im sure even what ive typed has just been redundant. a broad ban of guns is unrealistic, ridiculous, and will only create more hostility and rage towards each other and the govt, so for anyone who thinks like that, i just say,i think youre very wrong. a ban on “assault rifles”, whatever that is,go for it, because there are still semi automatic rifles that didnt fall under the first fucking FEDERAL assault rifle ban, and it wont the second go around if it does happen. even if you do, is that law going to be retroactive? what about semi automatic handguns, semi automatic shotguns?
people in uproar just for a ban on “assault rifles” are just expending a ton of energy towards nothing at all. i bet it wont be retroactive, and if you already have them, then good for you, and i bet it will be just as flimsy as it previously was, because shall i say it again, the guys gun would not have been banned federally under the ban, nor was it illegal in their own state, but yet look what it allowed this young man to do. so unless they plan to get rid of all semi automatic rifles period, and make it retroactive, then who cares, and even then, who cares, because all the other shit still exist. handguns, revolvers, shotguns, hunting rifles, and you can go to any home depot to make makeshift bombs, claymore mines, etc… people are in denial and delusional to what someone who really wanted to do something could do.
the conversation should be more about gun safety, mental health, peace, love, psychology and pressures of teens and young adults who could pushed to the edge, etc… the whole gun conversation should not be on the national forum as much as it is imo and mostly for twitter and forums. all this gun conversation is doing is separating us even further and dividing us more. until we realize we cant just ban, kill, and destroy our way out of problems, WE WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WITH VIOLENCE IN THIS COUNTRY.
where there is a will, there is a way. we just need to start developing on people not wanting the will to want to do this type of shit anymore, even if the tools available are readily available, but thats too much work, and im being idealistic, so ban what you want, and lets all burn while drinking moonshine.
oh word. i have just not stayed that much in the loop with it. no semi automatic rifle at all?
you gotta read first mane. i dont know if this is another new article, or an old one posted late, but this article like the ones before it, its NOT a whole gun created by 3d printing, just parts of it. lots of the main stuff is not printed at all
Why does everyone side-step the fact that illegal guns were once legal? They’re made available by the proliferation and movement of firearms. If there are no gun stores to rob, no trucks to heist, no fake FOID cards being made…
Source: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/The-312/July-2012/Where-Do-Chicagos-Guns-Come-From/
yeah basically. people buy and sell guns between one another ALLLLL THE TIME. just someone you work with, a a friend of a friend. it all gets spread and trickled down and around at this point because there are so many around. craigslist anybody. lol
And we’re back.
And those laws came into place because of the dangers of drunk driving. Why is this concept escaping you? There was a problem, then steps were taken to curb it. Not eliminate it – an impossibility – but curb it. The problem wasn’t solved by doing nothing. No problem gets solved by doing nothing.
Hey jackass: what part of the “I fall somewhere in the middle when it comes to gun control” thing I posted twice now didn’t you understand? Stop this “your camp” bullshit. My “camp” is action that aims to prevent mass murder. If a solution is implemented that does that, I’m happy. Yes, I think stricter gun control needs to be a part of that, but hey, if someone finds a way to let people have their fully automatics that, through other measures, lowers the rate at which these massacres happen, that’s fine too.
I’ve actually taken the time to read what you’re peddling; least you can do is actually read what I’ve posted in return, especially since I’m actually thinking about what I’m typing instead of just mashing my hand on the keyboard like a scrub.
Idiocy at best. Monstrous idiocy at worst. Illegal gun supplies don’t magically remain steady when gun control is tightened; that’s an absurd idea. Illegal guns become harder to acquire, because the legal gun supplies that feed them aren’t running so freely.
Seriously, what’s with people thinking criminals have this ability to magically conjure guns? Is it any coincidence that the groups that peddle this nonsense seem to believe in other bogus-ass magic?
Nice sidestep on the gang violence not affecting school/mall/theater shootings. I expected it but it caught me by surprise nonetheless.
Noise. Don’t like the term? Congratulations: that means jack squat. I can call it an “automatic weapon with a big-ass clip” if that makes you less salty, but fuck that noise. I don’t have to be a gun enthusiast to comment on this issue, and what a retarded assertion to make. Must I be a rapist to speak out against rape? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.
You’re an idiot.
Before you respond, do realize why I’m rightfully calling you that. PROTIP: it’s the part where you typed “you want prohibition.” PREDICTION: whoosh.
I just posted a link to show that they are working on it, not saying at all that you can print up a Desert Eagle right now. But give it some time, and I’m sure down the road you’ll be able to print an entire armory to go with your invisible ghillie suit.
lol so many of you know almost nothing about guns.
we all make fun of gun nuts until we need some people to step up and fight a war.
a gun ban would probably cause more lives lost in the long term (higher rates of crime and violence after it passes). regardless, it’s in the bill of rights and that’s enough for me.
once we set the precedent of getting rid of one because it’s unpopular, we’re done.
Nice signature Weeks
I think most people, including me, would rather take the 1 in several million chance they will get shot at school over the proactive scenario you provided.
‘assault weapon’ is a made-up, and ambiguous, term (for the purpose of banning weapons)
Ever live under martial law? I havent, but I have friends that have and t heyhad to protect their family against roving gangs that had ransacked gun shops. The city I live in (in upstate NY) considering going martial law because of police corruption (which brought significant crime/death right to my front door). it si real. semi-automatic is the least you need
also:
I like how you hate guns. I do to. I dont trust people who get all excited about them. I just see them as a necessary evil (all weapons in general go in this category).
A free society is a hell of a thing
Peace
What ever with the guncontrol. As my great post suggested in the Batman movie shooting, their should be a new penalty for catched killers and that is a painful execution.
Mentally ill or not isn’t an excuse anymore for acts like this and their should be an even dept to pay. Sadly the kid who did this killed himself but in the future, if luck strikes that killers like him are caught, they should be executed. Horribly.
Not ban them? crazy because she was preparing for the possibility of relative peace ending. Who decides if I get an AR-15 or not? The government? The people(LOFL)?
Those restrictions where made to curb firearm violence. That was there purpose of them. So how hasn’t the American Government or people responded to the situation? The America people have been addressing the issue since 34, and has been a big issue since 68.
The part where you say that she didn’t deserve them because she was crazy or because she "obviously"needed them. That’s cause for concern, and that’s a reoccurring theme with the people on your side of the debate. You keep saying we need to ban Assault Weapons, when the majority of mass shootings don’t even use them.
ugh, Black Market. Don’t be stupid. You don’t think the criminal element will simply transport them here if the money is there? Heroin, Methamphetamine, and Cocaine are illegal substances that are heavily smuggled into the US, what makes you think they wont make space for firearms? You think America is the only supplier of “assault” weapons? You don’t think Russia, China, or the massive reserve of old American and Soviet weapons out there won’t slip in? You think, NORINCO gives a shit who buys there weapons? You don’t think HnK, Egyptian, Israelite, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkey, Czech, weapon manufactures can’t be bought?
The criminal element will have ample access to firearms in a country where its as easy as 1-2-3 to get heavy narcotics.
What sidestep, you want to reduce the amount of deaths? Banning them won’t dry up the Black Market which has ample supply. Banning them won’t reduce the gang drug violence that constitutes the majority of deaths. Chicago, DC all show that heavy restrictions do nothing to curb gun violence. These so called restrictions completely ignore the actual problem.
It meas shit because then people like you use the wrong terms and scare people into believing your bullshit. Its not a fucking automatic weapon, there’s a huge difference between Assault Rifle and Semi-Automatic. My issue was that using that term discredits your opinion because it shows that you aren’t even aware of what is it you talk about. Which is why i said,
“Its akin to saying we didn’t evolve from monkeys in an evolutionist debate”
You don’t fucking talk about math without knowing math, as with science, as with politics, as with any cultural issue. You don’t fucking talk if you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. At least know the basics, before you start throwing out bullshit scare tactic, heavily loaded words used by mainstream media to scare you into thinking what they want you to think.
You look no different from this side. Congrats, an idiot calling another idiot and idiot.
