Public Shooting and GC Thread: Active Shooter reported at LAX

Not really sure what more gun control is going to do at all…

^Reduce the amount of gun related deaths.

Prove me wrong.

If people want to kill someone(s) badly enough with guns they’ll find a way…

really?

Please do provide proof that it will, the burden on proof is on your camp, which is full of shit to begin with. You cite Japan yet always fail to acknowledge the cultural differences or significances, or conveniently ignore Switzerland. This dumb shit got the weapons illegally, making them harder for rational people to get is isn’t going to do crap but make people like you feel “safe”.

Just did this…

Certainly is creepy

has anyone talked about how badly the dad was getting raped in alimony? dude was paying $250k/year on his $450k salary…granted dude is rich, but FUUUUUUUCK!

god damn.
That is fucking monstrous.

Fastest way to dehumanize people is by highlighting differences in race and religion.

Hello, enemies who are universally brown and who worship Islam…

Damn those ninjas cutting onions again

Truth is, the doctors of this world aren’t remotely close to having real answers and cures regarding mental health. Doctors are failing on your everyday illnesses, things like serotonin and dopamine deficiencies. I think working on mental health is important in many countries. There are good doctors in this field out there, but far too few in my opinion.

Me being someone with an opposing view on guns, I can only say the ease in which somebody (unstable or not) is able to get their hands on weapons and do something so utterly awful, it is terrifying. I do think something like this hits home with a lot of families. I do think people are livid that this was allowed to happen to mainly children. Most if not all of those parents would have taken those bullets for their children, other parents I think recognise that and look for a way to stop something like this from happening again.

@ Pedoviejo - He may have picked up the weapons illegally, but he got them from his mum. If you still live at home, how easy would it be for you to take something that belonged to your mum? Or even a friends house if you really wanted it? An extended family members home? Illegally obtained or not, I’m guessing that most people in the US know somebody with a gun. Not even a lockbox would make a difference if you wanted what was inside. Its a question of accessibility, not the case of whether this person legally obtained the guns.

Very interesting video interview with Lionel Shriver on this BBC page at the moment - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20766051

Russia to this day has still not recovered from the effects of the fall of the Soviet Union. There’s also the fact that an arm of their government, the KGB, basically became one of the biggest crime syndicates in the world. Russia is an anomaly and has far more problems that are contributing to its murder rate. It simply isn’t on the same footing as the US or France or England or other nations which have a better foundation.

When you look at all of the other nations which have stricter gun laws and are on the same footing as the US when it comes to their economic stability, quality of life, etc, they don’t even come close to approaching the murder rate in the US.

That doesn’t change the fact that fear is much more prominent in America than it is in other nations, and even if it is just a matter of sport or hobby, that still means that there’s something with Americans and their guns that doesn’t exist in other countries.

Reports were the divorce was a bitter one. She was still very vocal about it. Since she also said taking care of Adam was a full time job, in due he had no problem coughing up the dough if he was as much of a handful as some say he was. But if he had the “mild” form of autism, the personality disorder probably was a bigger factor. (Didn’t save the link since it was not addressed until now and I read the articles mentioning it two days ago).

As soon as I saw that tweet, I instantly wished that some loon with a gun would come to their church and issue out God’s judgement.

Sunday Night Football fans were not impressed when NBC put Obama on the air in the middle of the 49ers vs Patriots game.

Nuclear holocaust is really not an option for any country. Cuban missile crisis was the closest we came, but nobody wants mutually assured destruction. But let’s say that nobody helps. Would the hillbillies be able to win? I think it depends. If its a civil war situation where the south secedes because the country elected a gay atheist female president in 2020, then probably not, because the north would still support the union.

But if it were the result of the usa trying to declare martial law, then they would lose support of most of the country, in which case, the problem of maintaining supply lines and logistics would hamper the government just as much as it would civilians. The government needs to eat food too, and those require roads and such to ship around. Given the large size of the country, a roving band of hillbillies executing a scorched earth policy that lived off the land by looting food and supply shipments (much like Sherman did in the south at the end of the civil war) would at the very least cripple the country. It would not be trivial to crush. Any genocide in response would further increase hostility toward the government.

Also, I don’t think the american civil war was a good example. Incompetent generals herp derp suicide zerg rushing fortified positions. They were trying to fight the war like it was the american revolution, but the minie rifle was far more accurate and better than any musket from the revolution, so lining everyone up in a row and charging was simply a bad idea. It was anything but guerilla warfare. Guerillas would not needlessly suicide themselves. Besides, the south came close to winning a few times early on. The north didn’t want the war, and they were being handed multiple defeats early on, resulting in lincoln hiring and firing multiple generals. The other countries didn’t support the south because lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation, making the war no longer one about the right to secede, but instead made it explicitly about slavery. The other countries couldn’t in good conscience support the position of slavery.

All I’m saying is that a lot of americans support the right to bear arms because it keeps the government honest. I personally don’t own any guns myself, but I can see their point of view. Do I think its realistic? It depends on the scenario like I said. I do agree, its unlikely for hillbillly militias to win (especially with government advances in drone technology), but not completely impossible.
