Public Shooting and GC Thread: Active Shooter reported at LAX

They said the Americans would outright crush the Vietnamese during the Vietnam war. Look what happened.

@honeybbq
Actually a large % of violent criminals often test to have some sort of mental disorder or learning disability that went untreated. So it isn’t just a rich white person problem, the reasons for the violent breaking point differ though. Folks in lower financial brackets tend to be shut out of resources and opportunities.

Surely you aren’t comparing American soccer moms to Vietcong?

Eh…look at all the damage that the Weather Underground did; and the WU was just a bunch of hippies. Imagine if they actually been trying to kill people?

You are way to dismissive of people’s general deviousness.

Not everyone is a soccer mom. If our backs are pushed to a wall, we will fight back. It’s a natural human instinct of survival. We were pushed there with the Brits, during the Civil War, and with Japan. Germany just got most of our shit because fuck them, too.

Again I ask, did gun ownership do anything at all to stop Saddam Hussein?

Those guerrilla tactics are doing nothing to stop the US military from doing whatever it feels like. They might kill a few US soldiers but bunch of guys hiding in the woods with inferior weaponry is not driving the US military away.

There is no question that the militia (if you could even call it that) would run out of ammunition. The US is the largest arms supplier in the world and there is also the matter of things like food, medicine, etc. Where would the guerrillas obtain these vital materials? Other countries wouldn’t be able to provide them due the sheer power of the US navy and air force. To be honest, the military wouldn’t even need to engage the guerrillas as much as you’re suggesting. They could simply block off wherever they were until the supplies ran out. The US government also controls utilities such as water and electricity.

You can go on and on about tactics all you want, but no matter ex-military or police officers, the vast majority of Americans aren’t trained in these areas. Even if they were, they simply wouldn’t have the resources necessary to combat the US military. And what restrictions placed on soldiers are you talking about? You really think that the US or any other army wouldn’t resort to brutality to crush a rebellion or or stop guerrilla fighters? Please.

The American colonists were successful in the American revolution because of all the aid provided by the French. They provided everything from training, uniforms, guns, cannons, you name it, you got it. It was also the French navy that defeated the British fleet at the Battle of the Chesapeake and cut off Cornwallis’ retreat to the sea. Without France’s help, that rebellion would have long ago been over with.

The Vietcong were supplied and aided by the Soviet Union and China, and even then, the US military still won every single engagement.

The South lost the Civil War, and if you think that a guerrilla war would have been successful when they were already starving, then you’re insane.

There you go trying to bring facts into a gun fight.

Haha people are amazing

It helps that after a while, the British attitude toward the colonies was “Aw, fuck it, let those unwashed heathens have their swamps if it means that much to them.”

For maximum effect, listen to this while reading that page.

Jeez…it’s just a game.
I have seen about 75% of these posts on here though.
Some don’t deserve to be in this post…like the girl saying there is nothing he can do about it isn’t bad enough to make this article.
Love that they have their handles listed…guess they will gain more followers like them. I would have loved him interrupting an eagles game the way they have been playing this year. I did send angry tweets to abc for showing the game instead of scandal.

I still feel odds about the memorial being televised.

The US couldn’t win in vietnam, korea, and even iraq because they lost the support of the people at home. they could have won if they used genocide, but it would have been a pyrrhic victory. Similarly, if the usa used genocide against its own people to crush a rebellion, it wouldn’t work. the government only has power as long as it has people who support it and who pay their taxes. the same limitations in food, medicine, electricity and other logistical concerns apply just as much to the military. due to the large physical area of the country itself and the vulnerable and centralized nature of our infrastructure, crushing a guerilla rebellion would not be easy. take down some targets, fade back in to the general populace. a few guerillas with guns can easily hamstring the military, just like they have throughout all of history. the military can respond by massacring the general populace, but in todays age of information being immediately available, such actions would be condemned by everyone else in the country, and would be an excuse for other countries to lend support to the rebels.

Reminds me of The Hunger Games ones. These tweets really make me look forward to a world cleansing asteroid.

The paradox behind that is, a lot of the US armed forces are comprised of Billy Joe Bobs.

I agree that attitude is everything.

I had a conversation with some people at a party Saturday about this incident and another one where a friend and his girl had broken down and someone pulled up behind them and turned on their brights, leading them to believe they were about to get robbed (the guy wound up driving off but causing an accident as he did) and everyone in the discussion (even me for a second) was ready to buy guns. Every time something like this happens, people respond by going out and buying guns.

But it got me thinking: When everyone decides that buying a gun is the solution to all their problems, where are we as a society? When you have a bunch of scared people buying guns, holding them close, and rocking back and forth chanting “I won’t be a victim, I won’t be a victim” to themselves, how is that at all positive? People scared of their houses being broken into, dudes worried about street cred/respect, kids being bullied, guys taking it upon themselves to patrol their neighborhoods, etc. I’m for the 2nd Amendment and all, but America has a rather unhealthy relationship with guns.

Thanks to all this, after a guy breaks up with his girlfriend, aside from making up sexual harassment or even rape rumors, the girl can now get revenge by making a claim that the guy plans to shoot up a school and the guy will be picked up like a criminal with no rights.

Media just making things worse imo.

so how long before all this gun talk provokes the next crazy motherfucker tinkering on the edge to prove a point of how much damage he/she can do without a gun at all? then what, are we going to start banning home depot and household products, or forcing businesses to make their customers pay with credit or debit cards so the government can illegally track your behavior to see if you could be buying products to create bombs, poison, etc…

this whole “conversation” shit the media is spewing, and all the other idiots out there needs to be like 10 percent guns, and 90 percent societal and economical pressures, along with mental stability and psychology in general. like as stated here eariler, and stated a million times, you dont need a semi automatic rifle to do a lot of damage, to simply be proficient with hand guns is more then enough, and it doesnt take some ex black ops to get that proficient.

i use to shoot often enough back in my old hometown with my homey, and yeah, one glock and just some fully loaded clips on deck for quick reload is all you need to make quick work of any situation where you plan to fire on unknowing citizens. the shooters in many cases just happen to suck, thats all.

people yelling about assault rifles and there are semi auto shotguns, powerful handguns with extended clips, tons of media on the internet on how to make bombs, poison, etc… lol, and a flat out gun ban is obviously just ridiculous to even bother to mention.

That makes me wonder what countries would aid the rebels if civil war broke out in the US. Canada? Mexico? the UK?? The most I could see any country doing is condemnation of the government’s actions and threatening embargoes (good luck enforcing that by the way)

Didn’t the US just hand out like a billion dollars to Egypt to help with their debt and they still hate us.

Is there anyone who doesn’t hate the US? Honest question.

The US has so many problems. We need to start taking care of the problems here in the US. If we’re beyond broke, why the hell are we handing out so many resources to countries that do not give a damn about us?
