While I do believe that someone who really wants to kill will find a way, I don’t agree with the idea that stricter gun laws will do nothing.
They might not amount to much, but I’m of the idea that making it that much harder will serve to deter a couple people at least, which is definitely a step up.
Mass shootings generally occur in gun free zones. This creates the ideal situation for mass shootings. That said shooting sprees have be thwarted by citizens.
You won’t see stuff like that on the news however because it doesn’t sell.
When is the last time you’ve heard of a shooting at a gun shop… you won’t because the odds are against the shooter. Mass shooters go where the odds favor therm.
Read up on some of his issues. They are classifying it as a personality disorder and not autism. He was home schooled after fighting the school district (I have been there). One person from his high school stated he couldn’t feel pain physically or emotionally…I just wonder what they fought over. I also wonder if high school was the first time they addressed his issues.
Any way, am I the only person who feels the memorial should not be televised?
Americans have an obsessive and almost comical infatuation with guns and gun ownership.
Guns do kill people. What other purpose does a semiautomatic handgun or an assault rifle serve?
I’m not for banning guns in their entirety. I can understand allowing hunting rifles. There is also competitive shooting, but the guns could just be kept at the shooting range. Seriously, why does anyone need to own a weapon that’s specifically designed to kill multiple people very quickly? An armed citizen has never foiled a mass shooting nor is owning a gun going to stop anyone from breaking into your home because that’s based on the false assumption that they’d know you have the gun in the first place.
Let’s face it. Countries such as France, England, Germany, and Japan have far less gun-related homicides than does the US. Yes, murders still happen in those countries, but even then, there are still far less than the amount that happens in America.
Lastly, how many mass-shootings, armed robberies, and burglaries and foiled by armed civilians? If armed civilians are doing such a great job at stopping mass shooters and other criminals, then:
Why does the US have so many gun-related homicides every year?
Why do those countries listed above have so few? With no gun-carrying civilians around to save the day, then shouldn’t the criminals who will supposedly obtain the guns illegally anyway be having a field day against the unarmed masses?
My co-worker just brought up a good question: Why is it that there are never any black males that snap and go on a killing spree? Are we all just corrected by our parents/put into prison before things escalate that far?
1.) Why is it comical? It’s in our Constitution, the basis of our laws, to own weapons to protect ourselves.
2.) For self-defense from tyrannical government and other invading agents
1.) Gang violence
2.)This is faulty thinking. It always depends on where you live and your social status.
I’m not really opposed to stricter gun laws as long as they don’t interfere with lawful and sane people owning firearms. Problem is its really all or nothing. Dudes a nut, he’s gonna find a way to shoot some folks. I’m with Morgan Freeman, stop the instant celebrity shit, maybe that will help.
I think someone is going to try and hurt the shooter’s brother or roommate, even though they had zero involvement people will pin them with something like “they knew he had mental issues” or something
It was put into the Constitution at a time when the US was under direct assault from the British and really didn’t have a military or a police force to protect the citizens.
Guns do nothing to protect citizens from a government which has the most advanced military technology at its disposal. Gun ownership was widespread in Iraq but it didn’t seem to hinder Saddam Hussein very much.
What?
There are gangs in England, France, Japan, etc. Forgotten about the Yakuza? What does where someone lives or their social status have to do with anything? The US still has far more gun-related homicides than any of those other nations which have banned assault weapons.
out of curiosity, how many ppl here are gun owners?
what do you own?
how do you feel about magazines that hold 30+ rounds?
how do you feel about the term “assault weapon?”
those that are adamantly against guns, what about for home defense? collecting? sport? how do you feel about the laws in your state? DO YOU know the laws of your state? how do you feel about magazines that hold 30+ rounds?
