PSX/PS2 -> DC Adapter FAQs

did you ever get it to work?

is this the Total Control Plus?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4303&item=8105882080&ssPageName=STRK:MEBWA:IT

It looks different than the Total Control Plus on Lik-sang.com

Is this a good converter?

thats the Dragoncast.

The level six converter is wrong on the list. L is L1 and L2, R is R1 and R2. Start and select both convert to Start.

Innovation Converter:
VMU = yes
Other Controllers = sega saturn
Keyboard = yes
Mapping = L -> L1, R1
R -> L2, R2

Most of these converters either convert both the L’s buttons to L, and R’s to R, or the 1’s buttons to L and the 2’s buttons to R. So if you map your stick up like this:

HP=L1
HK=R2

it should work with both kinds of converter.

is the dragoncast a good converter, aside from the VMU fit issues? I can’t find the total control plus (which seams to be the best one as far as I can tell) on ebay.

I have an Innovation adaptor.

Innovation
VMU = yes
Other Controllers = ?
DualShock Vibration = ?
Keyboard = yes
Saturn = yes
PSX = yes
Mapping = ?

ASCII FT2 works fine on it. It use all 6 buttons on the right for 3S. However for 3S using the SC2 stick , I get a repeated button while 1 button is missing. 5 different attack while 1 is a replica of the other.

the dragoncast is a good converter. I have one and the vmu fit just fine on it. It’s actually quite snuggy and won’t slip off easily.

NEOKEN: I already post the informations for the Innovation Converter: :stuck_out_tongue:

so according to the information that was posted, it only maps L to L1/L2, and R to R1/R2. Doesn’t it have a switch on it? That doesn’t re-map right?

Nope, it doesn’t have a remap switch.

forgive me if this is a stupid idea, but do you think you guys that posted info on the converters could go back and edit your posts and add in a rating (scale of 1-5, 5 being “works excellent”) on each of the converters? I imagine that some work better than others. It would also be useful to know what joystick you tested it with.

thanks!:smiley:

did you split your ground wire so that it connects to all the components?

what exactly did you mean by this post? You are asking if there is a ground wire daisy chained to the ground on all the microswitches?

Also, this is the result of two RO joysticks and a PX > DC (dragoncast) converter:

Both the the converters seam to work fine. However, one of my RO joysticks does not work with either converter. One of them has a Black cable, and the other a light grey cable. The light grey cable does not respond at all when connected to the dreamcast. The black cable RO stick however works perfectly! I am going to take apart both of them to figure out waht is different. I believe the actual PCB is the same. One thing is the daisy chain ground was connected a little different, but every microswitch IS grounded. Also, the light grey RO stick works with a Saturn converter and PS1/PS2 without any problems, so I am not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

oh just asking about the daisy chain :slight_smile:
i have a grey cable ro joystick and i am going to get converters
i hope its not a problem with all of them :frowning:

ok this is weird, I opened up the grey one, and everything looked normal. Looking at the PCB I noticed that a few solder connections didn’t look very solid. I used a solder Iron and just reheated the few spots, plugged it in and it worked! I then turned everything off and plugged in a VMU to see if it works. Boot back up and the joystick doesn’t work again, with or without VMU. This is kinda screwy and I can see why people go for sony PCB’s.

ok get this, one of my RO joysticks only works on a certain dragoncast adapter when in the 1p slot with a VMU inserted. Weird huh? Oh well, at least it works.

Okay, both my current psone dual shock sticks are wired so that…
R1 = Fierce punch
R2 = Roundhouse kick

I was told this is the best way to have them wired as it is the most friendly with DC converters. What converter would you say I need from the list above. I’m leaning towards the Total Control plus, will this work with no problems?

Thanks

Does anyone know of a DC adapter that will allow you to plug up a SATURN pad AND will work CORRECTLY (meaning that you can utilize the standard 6 buton layout, instead of use’n the shoulder buttons) w/ Street Fighter 3rd Strike (aka 3S)?

Just so that people know, Total Control Plus 5 does NOT fit this description. For some reason, when you play 3S, you can NOT use the appropriate Fierce and Roundhouse buttons. You still have to access those w/ the shoulder buttons which UTTERLY defeats the purpose of use’n the saturn pad. :lame:

If anyone has any suggestions on how much it’d cost and where to get it it would be much appreciated. Peace

This

is the converter you want to use. R1 and R2 are treated as two different buttons by it.

Anyboy want to buy my total control plus ps2 to dc controller converter? $20 shipped. I also have the InPin ps2 to ps3 adapter. $30 shipped.

Also have ATI wonder elite (remote edition) TV tuner for the pc (Like New). Selling for $60

Holy shit. Nearly 5 year old thread necro and all you do is put your post in the totally wrong forum. Go to the trading outlet.

I was really into this thread until I saw your post. Go here:
