Can’t say, I got the Wifi version of the Vita.
My guess is that it uses micro SIM cards
It’s still too early bro.
Wait a few months to gage success and game releases.
I bought a Vita WiFi when I had some disposable income. I’ve never been much of a portable gaming person but with MvC3 and SFxT looking so good on it I had to check it out. I have MvC3 on it and I play more on the Vita than on any other system. Prob won’t be the case with SFxT because I need a stick for that game but I’ll still enjoy taking it on the go. And I’m pretty sure MK will be sweet on this system.
It has a decent library and the equivalent of a full console controller. Most of the good games aren’t new IP’s, but at least they’re new games unlike Nintendo’s first year catalog with the 3DS. The driving reasons not to get one would be the imminent revisions/price drops.
Two buttons LESS than a modern console controller actually. This surprised me, they learned their lesson with the PSP’s single stick hurting control in some games, but still only have 6 and not 8 buttons?
I suppose they figured they can just use the touchscreen/back touchpanel, with games that might need extra inputs but still.
sigh
i think right now its not worth it, but once the games start pumping out it would be worth purchasing.
I didn’t think i would want a Vita at first but i broke down and picked one up. I must say I am enjoying it much more than i thought i would. I think it actually has alot more games to offer than the 3DS did at launch. Uncharted, Marvel, Rayman, Ninja Gaiden, and Wipeout are all fantastic. You also have quite a bit of PSP games to choose from as well and they look great on the OLED screen. PS1 games are supposed to be available later as well. I have alot of free time at work so it is perfect for me.
Whats the online like with the at&t plan vs wifi through the phone?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
AT&T service is extremely limited on their 3g for the vita, with a very noticeable bandwith cap.
No Downloading huge files, or even PSN downloads on 3G. I think the limit is 200 mb a month for the price I pay for unlimited elsewhere.
Now if you are with T-mobile, Sprint or Verizon go ahead set up mobile wifi tethering on your phone and set the Vita’s wifi to your phone.
Especially good if your phone is 4G.
Why Wifi on the other hand, its your typical wifi 802.11 b/g/n , it depend on the quality of that hot spot or router. Got a descent router or hotspot, and you have closed to top speeds.
I had a PSV, then I sold it (needed money quick), just bought a new one and I realize how much I missed my old one.
My pros:
- Solid design
- Large screen
- PSP game downloads make the library awesome out of the bat – Playing SFA3Max, Darkstalkers Chaos Tower, ZHP, and FFT:WotL
- Looks like its going to get decent support (SFxT coming out, plus a few other interesting titles announced every now and again)
- 3G allows me to use it for internet browsing and netflix when I’m really bored
- PS1 compatibility coming eventually
- Eventual PS3 remote play
Cons:
- Size is a little unwieldy – great for playing, bad for putting it in my pocket.
- 3G doesn’t work for downloads, even though you can get a huge 50(?)GB plan. Wasted money on the big plan only to find I couldn’t use it for downloading game purchases.
- Near doesn’t make any sense.
Comparing the 3DS to the Vita Libary yesterday at Best Buy.
The 3DS has mostly the same shovelware crap the DS and Wii are plagued with.
Except for Kid Icarus, I grabbed every worth wild title I want for the 3DS, and 2 of those are N64 ports Zelda and Star Fox.
I also grabbed Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D land.
The Vita’s library on the other hand is half empty, ether best buy sold out or they have supply problems.
Wipe out, Luminies, UMvC 3, SF XT, Disgaea 3, Uncharted, Rayman Origins, Gravity Rush.
It did took me some time to understand near, but it is a social networking and player matching service. Not to the same level as face book or Google Plus, but you can see what players are with in your location and what games are popular and whats people’s opinions on said titles (though emoticons).
Just got MK on Vita minus a few gripes (can’t play vs PS3 players no Ultimate controller option) it plays great MK for VITA is my favorite game. Then in 2nd is UMVC3 the next game I might consider is SFxT I’ll see how the controls translate and pick up an all tekken team so I can skip out out on using the plastic glass triggers.
if anyone is able too mod a vita so I can use an arcade stick on it please PM me I will pay you money.
I though the Tekken Characters in SF x T are have their movesets to Capcom standards?
youre best buy has copies of gravity rush!???!! pick me up a copy and i’ll shoot you extra. haha
This is what will kill Nintendo in the end.
Their third party support is awful and Nintendo can’t pump out enough titles to keep hardcores satisfied.
The problem with casual players is that they don’t play games constantly and don’t buy in bulk like most hardcore players.
I think if any company will bow out of the next console cycle, it’ll be Nintendo.
I would predict they would stay in the portable market since that’s where they make most of their money unless the 3DS earns a reputation for shovelware, too.
It seems like Nintendo’s last good console was the GameCube…
Getting back to the Vita, I was impressed by the screen but just don’t find the titles all that appealing with all the console retreads. I hope it doesn’t turn out like the PSP ultimately – hardware breaking, nonexistent support in the US, confused software library, etc. – but I’m not about to pay $250 for another portable…
I got one on launch day. The hardware is great, the only problem is the lack of games. Once Gravity Rush and Persona 4 come out, I’ll be set for a while.
I’ve mostly been playing PSP games on mine–fortunately they look better than they’ve ever looked on the Vita’s screen. The display looks really good.
BlazBlue on Vita is really nice, though. It’s just like the console version. It’s actually the only Vita game I have besides Super Stardust.
