PSN & Xbox Live

Is it just me or do most of the random players online just plain suck? I’m playing both scoreboard and friendly quickmatch on PSN and tend to get opponents that have basically 1 or 2 gimmick patterns. Actual players that THINK and/or have a coherent strategy are few and far between…

play 360 much? every other player i have played on 360 has been competent in their skills. some even talkaive complementing me on my akuma combos.

I only have a PS3 and have tried a little bit of 360 at a cousin’s place. The good ppl online that I’ve run into tend really give me a run for the money or totally destroy me :stuck_out_tongue:

what do you expect? casual players make up for most of the sales for every game on the planet. the hardcore players are a small percentage. so its obviously gonna have a lot of shit players. why is this suprising?

Truth.

I’ve played on my brother’s 360 version a bunch of times and can honestly say the skill level is far lower from my experience.

I doubt it’s because of the d-pad…

maybe in the UK. but the top players are all playing on 360 over here. but theres still 3876587365873657838 bad players, obviously

It could be, but I doubt it. I’m guessing they’d be well accustomed to their own pad more than I, a PS3 owner am…wouldn’t you?

Makes a lot of sense. Over here no one really plays street fighter competitively, so I suppose they’d all be random people who liked the look of the download or haven’t played in 10 years.

Or maybe it’s teenagers/20-somethings that remember SF2 from their youth but never got into the game seriously and need to learn the basics – blocking crossups etc. I do enjoy getting beasted by ppl like NKI tho

stupid question, but how do you choose if you are player one or player two?

I find the xbox 360 pad horrendous in the player two position (although i have no such problems on a friends PS3 - wierd). Even just trying to walk backwards I end up jumping with the vile dpad.

If i host the game, I’ll play the first few matches as P1, then if I lose one match i seem stuck as player two for the rest of time, even if I go straight back onto a winning streak.

The dpad on the 360 is horrendous indeed, but when I play ranked matches in 360 i found that 2/3 times i fight a decent or better opponent than myself. I also started playing on the analog stick in the meanwhile, i seem to be doing better with then the 360 dpad.

On the PSN i am finding over less skills opponents tho…

I’m one of 50,000 shitty players, but I am learning and the only way I can learn to get better is play people at a higher level. I know most of the basics, my biggest problem is breaking old habits from years past. I tend to jump a little too much (not over use, I just don’t think some times and get punished for it). I do agree with you that most random matches are weak, even some one like me that knows very few combos and is still learning spacing and what moves to use at certain times, can win a majority of my randoms. I played someone from here neremixed or something like that and he walked all over me (his Ken dominated me, I let him get a cross up and he took down most of my life) but it was more fun to play him because I had to think about what I was doing and reacting to his strategy, out of 25 rounds I won once with Fei Long (not even sure how) but by the end our matches were a bit more comparable than the first few. I know a lot of you want to play people in your skill level but if you want more competition you have let some of us shitty players come to your level to learn.
