Thanks for the heads up, maybe I’ll pass on Dead Nation. I’m definitely getting Stardust, and maybe I’ll get Wipeout for free until I decide to import the disc version from Europe. I just prefer games on disc, that’s all. I have inFamous already, pretty cool game that had a lot of great ideas that could be improved on.
Just downloaded a few free stuff off that PS Plus shit… Just patiently waiting for AE to show up in the store and i’m gone!
Hey Guilty, I picked up Super Stardust. Man, that’s an awesome game and totally addictive, I was like, just 5 mins to try it out and ended up being an hour. Slick and fun presentation.
Super Stardust is a fun game. I bought it when it originally dropped.
Lol, I know what you mean. When I first picked up the game, I only had about 10 minutes to play before I had school. But then that 10 minutes became 2 hours and I didn’t even bother going. Just faked I was sick xP I’m only disappointed that the free Stardust didn’t come with its DLC. There’s 3 packs of DLC for it. 2 of those packs can be purchased in a bundle for $7.99 and the third is on its own for $1.99. I have these packs and they’re great, but it’s just kinda lame how Sony didn’t throw it all in since they were giving away far more expensive games like inFamous, LBP, and Wipeout HD. So those who want to experience the full splendor of Stardust will have to make about $10 worth of purchases towards DLC(Not that bad). Still, free is free lol Atleast they handed out the game. Impact Mode DLC is a definite buy for that game! It’s only 2 bucks and it’s a lot of fun. Came out only 2 months ago, despite the game being 4 years old now, so it’s great to see it still being supported x)
It’s probably so that the developers still get a slice of pie for their contribution to the free games. It’s a great way to hook someone and then get them to purchase the DLC. LBP didn’t come with the DLC either, nor the other games. I think WipeOut HD was the only one that included an expansion, maybe because they don’t host just the original anymore so they have up Fury. Even the disc version is WipeOut HD + Fury, so that may have something to do with it.
BTW, in general, how aggravating is it to wait for a game to download, start it up, only to be told we’re on version x.xx, and you have to wait for the entire thing to be downloaded again? Why doesn’t Sony host the most recent version only? It would save them bandwidth and save people their time. All my PSN games are like that, I don’t get why they can’t figure that out.
I agree with the DLC gimmick lol It’s working, I’m sure.
And it doesn’t download the entire thing all over again lol just updates. Still, I do admit I would prefer the download itself already be updated so you wouldn’t have to go through the download>install>start>update>restart sequence. I’d rather just be able to jump into the game after download. Which brings me to another problem: installs. I get annoyed with the fact that everything you download has to be installed as well in a seperate operation. Why doesn’t it just install automatically after it downloads or something? Does Sony honestly believe I’m going to sit there and download something for 4 hours and not install it? Lol. It’s not a huge problem or anything, but it is kinda silly when you think about it xP
If it doesn’t work…
Yes, I said that 15 posts ago lol however, it apparently didn’t work for Hawkingbird I hope it did by now since the store isn’t as buggy though.
Man, I’m gonna have AE in 2 hours. PSN Coming back just in time for me to not kill myself.
Actually PixelJunk Monsters, SSF2T HDR, Super Stardust all downloaded full updated versions after downloading full out of date versions. SF2 is about 250 to 300 megs and the “update” is the same exact size, Super Stardust was about 240 and the “update” same thing, PixelJunk Monsters is 64 mb and the update is the same. I think it’s true for BC:Rearmed as well. So, no they’re not huge games but I’ve already downloaded them and then the updates are the same size, and you have to download them again to get the updated version.
The install thing is stupid too, but it’s needed. The system needs to be able to extract the data from its compressed format, and depending on the compression scheme it could require a lot of ram and virtual memory. If you’re in the middle of a game and it started doing that automatically after downloading, it would kill your game and probably lock the console up. It would be nice if you weren’t in a game session that it would have smart installing, and auto install if you’re not using the system.
Hmm I didn’t realize the size of those updates as opposed to the games themselves. Probably since I’m mostly playing 3rd Strike or pinball whenever I’m updating lol And the install thing makes sense. I thought it might have been something along those lines. Thanks for explaining it in full though so I now fully grasp the concept xD I think that PSN + feature that autodownloads updates for you should be standard. Not sure if those are system updates or game updates though. Also, need some cross game chat. However, I fear we’ll never see it. Yet the PSV gets it lol
If PSV gets it, it will probably make it’s way here. I’m not sure I’d really use it, but it may come in handy just to shoot the shit with someone if I’m in a deep session of another game at the moment. System auto-updates should be standard, I don’t know why it’s a + feature, who would buy + just for that?
I can’t wait for 3SO, hopefully they won’t fuck it up and have no spectator mode like MvC3.
It sure as hell would come in handy for me lol the majority of my friend list spams me with invites to games just to talk since I don’t play much multiplayer anymore. Chatting in games sure beats staring at a white room as though your some kinda skitzo though(PS3 voice chatrooms). They really should let us change the backround or something on those lol And give us more funcionality if we can’t have cross game chat. We can’t even listen to music or much of anything else while in chat rooms.
I can’t wait either. Was hoping for a more narrow date instead of Summer 2011, but it might get more specific later today. And hey, summer in general is good enough for me anyway. Better than waiting till winter xP
Summer is fine by me it gives me time to buid my case and get my stick ready. I’m gonna suck though since I never really dived into 3S enough, but now having human opponents is going to be great. As far as mic chat rooms, I never use them. Do they come in handy? I’ve only used text chats and I pretty much only visit No Honor Crew.
Way too many good games on the horizon, I’ll never have the time to play them all and I still have shit on the back burner. And you know what’s worst of all? I usually just end up playing SF2.
They come in handy when combating boredom and your game isn’t enough xP Plus some people are actually nice enough to give you tips on improving your game and whatnot. I’ve made a lot of good friends on the network, though mostly through Uncharted 2 lol The voice chat rooms really suck though. They’re really bland and you can’t really do a whole lot while you’re in there. No music, movies, games, browser, gallery, nothing.
Lol I know I’m gonna be stuck on 3rd Strike when it comes out. Nothing will pry me from it till Uncharted 3 and that probably won’t last long.
Only games I play online are fighters, I can’t do dual analog shooters online, so no Uncharted, Killzone, or MGO style games for me. I wonder what the reasoning for voice chat being so limited? I really can’t think of any. Poor design choice I guess. I’ll see you on 3S when it comes out, I’m really hoping for a disc version and not a PSN version. If Capcom fucks up the PSN version by having Bionic Commando style DRM I am out, I won’t put up with that.
What is the overall view of the security program they offered? It legit? It worth doing?
It’s free, so why not? It literally takes about 3 minutes of your time.
I still need to do this.
