Anytime I see Affinity post positively I take it as an omen of horrible things to come. Like Naruto UNS2.
RIP KOF XIII.

Or even better the hit box (collision box) viewing.
Was saying if you were gonna start another thread, it’d probably have been better off in that section. Parlay the topic.
Goddamn you are stupid.
Yo, not trying to be an ass here, but seriously who cares. This collection fucking blows big time. And it shows really just how stupid SNK must be if they expect people to play this shit, and furthermore buy it. You can’t honestly tell me they don’t know that all these games have been emulated for years, and hence can be played for free with impunity. And furthermore, online. People don’t even play them as it is.
What makes them think we would play for these outdated games and deal with their horrible netcode? Do people think playing this stuff makes them hardcore or OG or something? I’m honestly curious as to where the hype is.
here it is-

This release is supposed to celebrate 20 years of Neo Geo this December. Do you really think they would release their newest games when the point of this release is an anniversary and to celebrate nostalgia??
Just because YOU don’t play or like or miss these games, doesn’t mean OTHERS DON’T, this is for the old schoolers k?
Anyway, Suuuuper hype for online AOF 1-3 matches
Happy 20th Neo-Geo
If they released some of their later games on service at launch it would help sell it better. The titles they chose to launch with is crap. They chose old games that were included in their recent PS2 complications. Why would I drop $8.99 for Art of Fighing 1 when I can head to Gamestop and purchase the Art of Fighting collection for that very same price and get all three games in the series?
but the ps2 collection doesn’t let you play online
SNKP games have terrible online.
yeah, hate to say it guys, but online hasn’t been a good experience so far.
I’ve played several matches in KoF 94, and not one has even been playable. they’re all choppy, super-slow, and totally unplayable. Granted, all of those connections were listed as 0-2 on a scale of five, but still. The fact that I can’t find any good connections says a lot, I think.
other than that the presentation and emulation is excellent, I love the look and feel of this whole Neo Geo Station thing. But if netcode is your sticking point, you should probably stay away. I’ll update if I have more luck later. Maybe not enough people have bought it yet in my area. I’ve only come across 3-4 people on there at all, maybe they just all have bad connections.
I’ve had good connections in Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters 94. However I had a LOT of shitty connections to go along with those good ones. Still the same distance based shit as KOF XII. If we can get some region based lists and players then this can be a good experience, however if it stays this divided then it’s going to go to shit real hard real fast.
Man, I wish SNK would get their act together with the online…
Anyway, I’m still probably gonna buy these games when I get a PS3. Even though I’ve played these games to death in the 90s, I haven’t played these games since then.
I’m looking foward to future releases of better games though.
The SNK game that I still want to play is this:
if you actually enjoy playing those games i think thats grounds to classify snk fanboyism as a mental illness
Played 10 SamSho games online last night and had nothing but good experiences.
@Pelvic Thruster: Check under the search function. There you can search for regional matches and define a ping tolerance.
Damn, now I really need to get out of work and home to pick up SamSho.
I still enjoy playing KOF 94, Problem?
setting PING tolerance is key! I have many lagless matches online. Yes there was a bad one, but that was when I used Quick Match.
Also if anyone is wondering where the blood went, just make sure you are playing the Japan region version online.
Why are you searching with PING set to ANY? 0-2 would obviously lead to laggy matches.
And of course not many have bought it yet. Not expecting a community to happen, but that first impression is proof that many people don’t know how to judge online properly.
Basing it on some random quick matches and/or unfiltered PING searches, is asking for more random and unfavorable results. :wonder:
KOF94’s online is lag free and flawless when you connect with the right people. This is the same for any other fighting game online to date. Someone even sent my friend a comment how great the connection was!
I really enjoy the fact that after you defeat a player, they can choose to spectate your play sessions or challenge you again anytime.
This is great for those that want to take a break and come back without having to do the invite/search process again. And it also adds to that arcade feel, the game keeps going like a fighting game at the arcades, instead of the start, stop, lobby, and start again routine that plagues virtually all other fighting games online.
NeoGeo Station games streamline the play sessions far better than anything before it.
I am also impressed that KOF94 controls are very responsive on the PS3 control pad.
Some of the more direction switching commands can be tricky, but things like the Kyokugen super fireballs are easy to pull off everytime. :lovin:
I haven’t turned the graphic smoothing filter on yet, but KOF94 still looks and plays wonderfully, including online. I will start to add people I meet online with good compatible connections and add them list to perhaps create some sort of network between them so they could possibly have more choices of good connection competitors. ^.^
You see Hatred Edge? Things are looking up and more positive improvements than before! Now I finally can sell Super Street Fighter IV and play a quality arcade perfect KOF from now on with PS3! They really should release KOF95, 96, 97 and 98 too! I’ll play them all online! ^.^
(My favorite background is the NeoGeo console background wallpaper. Even though I play in 4:3, you still see it in the background during the menus. Looks wonderful! And is that manual really the original KOF94 arcade manual? Even though it’s a digital manual, it’s a valuable rare treasure! There’s art in there I haven’t seen before!)
yes literally every game’s online is fine with the right connection, jesus, nobody has ever disputed that. the point is good netcode means you can play a wider range of people while bad netcode severely limits the people you can play. also i don’t really trust your assessment of what constitutes “lagless” given youre some weirdo fangirl who never goes outside to play people.
First of all, everyone knows the arcade scene is almost extinct in the west. 2nd of all, one would have to be more than lucky to find a KOF94 cabinet open to the public that a lot of people still use. 3rd of all, depending on the arcade and who goes there, going to those arcades is almost like asking for unwanted attention and trouble. In my experience, arcade communities are not all that inviting and not every town is sunshine and rainbows.
Not to mention it’s not as fun taking all that time traveling just to play for an hour or two, and not everyone want to go through that everyday.
An arcade perfect port like this at home with good enough online play and features provides even more enjoyment, security and peace of mind while potentially offering a broader selection of competition you’d normally never meet, and more freedom in times you want to play without needing to spend extra money on travel expenses.
It’s so easy to play the drama of “bad netcode” instead of making an effort to:
If more people did this, they would spend more time playing with lag free or near perfect lag free matches, instead of ranting here and missing out on a really playable and great online experience!
I’m glad some of you are able to enjoy it, but I haven’t found a single good match the entire time. If I set my ping to only high-level connections, I dint get any matches. I’ll keep trying, I don’t regret buying it because it’s a great package, but until I’m able to find a good connections, I don’t have anything good to say about the netcode.
And I do have a properly port-forwarded and DMZ’d connection, all other games work fine for me online.
