Oh, don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that owning the game on two platforms is going to be a sensible move for a select few. My argument is that, from a business standpoint, there isn’t enough incentive to put the time and money into an effort that will only net them a handful more copies sold. Even with Sony’s blood money, the game had a limited release schedule. There were other things that needed to take precedence.
To anyone that has 1st hand experience with both PS4 and PC versions of SFV Beta. What is the latency input delay between both versions. I’m currently split on whether to get a new PC or purchase a PS4. I know the PS4 would be the safest bet as it will be the FGC “standard”, however I prefer a open platform of a PC. Thanks in advance.
I have a PC but if it’s true that the PS4 will be cheaper this year (I can only hope) I would definitely pick that up and hope my arcade stick will be compatible. (I want a dedicated gaming system, since my PC specs are sloppy… I guess I should upgrade)
Your stick should be just fine on PC. On the PS4 on the other hand…

It depends on your setup. If you run with regular Vsync on latency will probably be slightly worse then the ps4 version. If you combine a AMD card with a freesync monitor or an Nvidia card with a Gsync monitor input delay will be considerably lower then on a ps4.
You can also simply run it with vsync of for lower inputdelay but then youd get tearing
can you please explain me the advantage of vsync for sf5 ?
the game have framerate fixed at 60 frame. how can nvidia vsync help?
SFV doesn’t have a vsync option. I’m sure they strove to make sure they had the same base input lag.
Capcom has already set both versions up to have 100 percent parity and run/input equally as well. Once all the drivers are out for the PC version so you don’t have to use joy2key and such they should receive inputs and run the same.
SFV runs its own vsync by default that can’t normally be disabled unless you force it off through drivers. So while it introduces tearing you do have the option of lower input lag. There’s also gsync/freesync which gives you the benefits of the reduced lag without the tearing. In USF4 this amounted to a 2-frame lag reduction. Sometimes driver vsync introduces lower input lag than the game’s native solution (like what was the case in USF4).
Though if you’re gonna play at tourneys you might want to stick to not messing around with this stuff because it will probably match the PS4’s lag by default. On the other hand it may offset any lag/inconsistencies you get while playing online so meh.
For for information regarding input lag in PC games refer to Four Wude’s article where he actually shows some numbers with USF4 in particular at the bottom.
sorry, but just to make it clear.
Even if sf5 is fixed at 60 frames, if you use Gsync you will still feel a difference?
My understanding was that gsync help with frame drop.
I don t really understand how it san help with fixed frame.
Please if you can explain it to me I will be gratefull.
plus can someone tell me what happen if you play on a 21:9 screen on pc?
the game add black band on each side?

I use Gsync. It offers a flawless and lagless vsync implementation with SFIV and SFV which alone is worth the price of admission. When vsynced properly, the game really does look fantastic. You are correct that with SFV being framelocked to 60fps that you don’t gain the additional benefits of GSync screens such as 120 and 144Hz synced options. You simply can’t bump the refresh rate up beyond 60Hz to force this. At least, that isn’t the case right now so far as retaining a sane gameplay experience is concerned. I held a discussion in another thread where I detailed how to force higher refresh rates, but it severely broke the game for obvious reasons.
I expect GSync will help pick up a the slack somewhat if you dip below 60fps, however I think in those instances you might want to seriously consider upgrading your rig because Gsync or not, to play SF properly on a PC you need to maintain a steady 60fps unassisted.
I have a steady 60 frame with my laptop( razer blade 2015 with a 970m).
I am also starting a desktop computer. I was thinking about the impact of GSync on sf5.
Thanks for the answer.
What about 21:9 screen. what happen if you play on a 21:9 monitor?
thanks
Just a quick update:
You can get OEM keys for windows 8.1 for less than $20 here.
Just bear in mind that these are OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) keys, which means they’re used by pre-built manufacturers- and are only good for one install. If you need to switch out a motherboard, you’ll need a new key. It’s a no-brainer for me, but some people might not want to get in on that.
All you need after that is a USB thumb drive that is 4gb or more and use this link to create a boot drive out of it.
After you’re done building your PC. plug the usb stick in and boot it up. The drive should automatically be detected and the install will begin.
Why would you want to get Windows 8?

Why would you want to get Windows 8?
The same site has 7 and 10. I’m simply providing an example.
It’s not like Microsoft won’t strong-arm you into 10 anyway.
But you could have at least linked to 7 or 10 which are way better than the shit show that is 8.

Woah, let’s be real man. 10 is only usable once you fix it manually.

Because 7 is no longer officially supported and Windows 10 is a euphemism for the NSA. Eight is the most easy-mode option, issues with the interface notwithstanding.
Windows 7 still has extended support up until 2020 and is way better than 8.
